Well, vandalizing and looting the store will fix everything! We see a picture of the shooter --- how about the kid who was killed?
No one should be shot running away from an alleged shoplifting incident. No one should be shot for simply shoplifting, period.
Mr. Chow is perhaps guilty of some type of homicide. Whether it will actually be murder will depend on his indictment, and the skill of his defense attorney(s). It will be interesting to see who the gun found next to the body belongs to, and whose fingerprints were on it, the magazine, and the bullets in the magazine. There is no mention of Mr. Chow's statements, if any, to the police after the shooting. Mr. Chow's son told the police that the kid had a gun. How did he know this? How many shots did Mr. Chow fire? How many of them hit the kid?
If it is revealed that the kid pointed a gun at Mr. Chow while he was running away, well folks, now we have a new ball game.
What was a 14 year old doing with a gun? Who did that gun belong to? If the gun was not in the kid's hand, why was it found AWAY from his body? If it were simply in his waistband, it would have been found on or under the body.
Despite the media's prejudice and hopes, this one doesn't seem to be all that cut and dried.

It is illegal for a 14 year old to have a gun.
Yes, he had the right to defend himself, IF Mr. Chow had raised his gun and pointed it first. The kid would still go to jail for possessing a gun. What part of the body a person is shot in has nothing to do with who was threatened. If the kid raised his gun at Mr. Chow, and had then turned away just as Mr. Chow was raising and firing HIS gun, then too bad he was hit in the back.
You have never investigated a crime scene, and obviously the "reporter" never has, either.
Just sit back, shut up, and wait for the FULL investigation.
Now I am gonna guess that the kid's gun turns out to be stolen. I MIGHT be wrong.

Children shouldn't be handling guns without adult supervision, PERIOD.
It's as much for their own safety as it is for the public.
I know what the article says about how it all started. They also said there was some kind of argument at the door. Was there some kind of tussle during which Mr. Chow saw the kid's hidden handgun? We still have to find out who pointed a gun at whom first. We know who fired, but that is immaterial if someone is pointing a gun at you. No law says you have to let the bad guy take the first shot before you shoot in self-defense.
The lawyers will get to settle this one.
And I hope the Sheriff DOES identify and arrest every animal who vandalized and looted the store. I hope they are all tried and convicted. The mob thuggery must stop. You have the right to protest, not have a mini-riot.

I don't agree with children having guns in public without immediate adult supervision, i.e., an adult family member right there WITH them.
Children shouldn't be handling guns without adult supervision, PERIOD.
It's as much for their own safety as it is for the public.
