What are you talking about? Getting saved has all the meaning. Getting baptized just symbolizes being reborn. You should get baptized after being saved as a sign of faith but being saved by the blood of the Lamb is what's important.

Are you saying you need to be Baptized w water, by a particular sect, to have salvation or is it, as you said, a symbol? Matt 3:11 It's a sect thing. You want to be in the man-made club, accept the unnecessary symbol. <shrug> Fine by me for you to do that. Certainly less painful than an identifying tattoo.

Fair enough, that was cold and perhaps we agree, baptism is BS, other than for some social experience, which is unnecessary for the bigger picture. Not much different than folks putting a College logo tattoo on their visible body. That neither is any of my business, doesn't mean I can't render an opinion.

Going under backwards represents the death. Coming back up represents the resurrection, reborn so to speak. I was baptized in the same many as Jesus, full immersion, many years/decades after I was saved. I didn't have to get baptized. I chose to as a public affirmation of my faith and salvation.

How do you know that you were signing a contract with God and not Satan?
How would you know the difference just looking at the person who baptized you? He could have been an agent of the Devil, delivering another soul to the underworld.

I was baptized (fully immersed in a Baptist church) at 14 but I realized as I got older that I was not fully committed to Christ. I was saved again in the Methodist church and received a damp hand on my head. Some denominations sprinkle.
Baptism is a symbol of being anointed with the Holy Spirit.
