This is like a 50-0 Super Bowl game. Vegas is just killing the Panthers. I don't think I have ever seen a bigger beatdown in the SC.
Edit: 6-1, so like 42-7 in football terms.

Vegas had the benefit of a rules changes, since CBUS and Minni came in and inexperience in dealing with those changes by others, I think. But essentially the NHL model was to insure expansion teams were successful. Kraken are less successful and others' experience w Vegas motivated a change in their decisions.

Bettman took a lot of heat for continuing to add franchises when existing ones like Florida, Columbus and Arizona have struggled to find success so he did everything in his power to make sure the new teams didn't struggle to prove he was right. The Jackets do share a lot of the blame based on the bad decisions they have made over the years but I don't think comparing them to the success we are seeing with Vegas is entirely fair.

And spot on. The Kraken did make the playoffs this year in their second season. In my opinion, the only reason they didn't have success their first year is because Ron Francis botched the expansion draft so badly. Vegas gave them the blueprint the year before, Francis just didn't follow it.

Vegas gave them the blueprint the year before, Francis just didn't follow it. mike/daleko, i do realize the expansion draft protocols have changed dramatically, that said... nashville, who entered the league in '98, has made the playoffs 15 times in 24 years and I believe made 1 final. atlanta/winnipeg, who started in '99, has made the playoffs 7 times, I think, 6 of them since moving to winnipeg in '11 and made a western conference final a few years back. minnesota entered the same year as the jackets in '00, and have made 13 playoffs, 1 of them all the way to the conference finals. w/exactly the same restrictions columbus had. vegas has made the playoffs 5 times in just 6 seasons, winning a cup. in just its 2nd year seattle made it to the western semis. in 23 seasons, the cbj have made the post-season just 6 times. 1 in the franchise's 1st 12 yrs, 2 in the 1st 15 yrs ('09, '14) before 4 straight from '17-'20 when you thought the club had turned the corner and actually won a couple series before going back to normal the last 3 years. easily the worst of all the newest teams, especially with the jets' recent success. did I mention I'm not bitter?

I say it's karma for giving Doug MacLean full control of the franchise early on. 😉
