I've been picking squash for three weeks now, snap beans for three weeks, and bell peppers for two weeks. Tomatoes will start ripening in about three weeks and my sweet corn will be ready to pick in three to four weeks.
As for the community garden for the needy folks, I have two acres set aside and planted. so far we have picked six bushels of beans and eight bushels of squash. We take it to the local fire station and bag beans and squash for distribution in the community. Several friends with land are doing the same. We deliver to about 100 households each week.
