Even with a Demonrat governor, the State of Louisiana recognizes the importance of the 2nd Amendment. We aren't known as "The Sportsman's Paradise" for nothing.
I'm actually thinking of taking advantage of this. There's a gun out there somewhere that has my name on it. There's a place where I can go and get any **8Z&& pistol I want at the police price, not at a "police discount."

Whatcha thinkin about gettin? I was thinking about a Glock 19, since it is almost identical in size to my Glock 30. But then I already have the Taurus G3, which is also about the same size and has a better trigger and narrower grip than Glock does. The Taurus also has an external thumb safety, if you are into things like that.

9mm might make a hole almost as big as .45 but .45 will never be less than .45...

9mm might make a hole almost as big as .45 but .45 will never be less than .45... That is true, especially for younger shooters. I am 70 now, developing arthritis, and losing the wrist strength I once had. It's getting hard for me to play guitar, too. I have zero qualms about the .45ACP inside my house, but at longer outside ranges, I think I'd rather trust the controllability of the 9mm. Heck, if I knew a .22 Magnum was a dependable fight stopper, I would use IT.
A 9mm directly on the nose, eyesocket, temple, or in the frontal lobe area is a pretty good fight stopper. So is one to the sternum, that will easily penetrate to the heart.
As you get older your reflexes slow down, so it's sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. If you are armed, but you have no tactical advantage, and a war is NOT going on, it's probably best to just hold your water and be a good living witness.
Wnen it comes down to it, any bullet will KILL over time, but it is the medium to large calibers that you need to STOP mayhem immediately.

Like a 12g pump action short barrel shotgun for home protection? That's a nice choice, but for inside the house distances, a 3" 20 gauge will work just as well. Especially with a short barrel, a 12 gauge isn't easy to use for fast repeat shots unless you practice a lot. Try it with 3" magnums! LOL
I have a very nice tactical 12 gauge (pistol grip stock and 8 round magazine), but it stays unloaded in a hardshell case. A .45ACP handgun within arm's reach almost all the time works for me.
