I swung and missed on that prediction.I'd have picked la too. it's one thing for a most talented team to get upset in a short series, but it's confounding to see it happen over and over like it has to the dodgers. btw did anyone see harper staring down arcia, twice, as he rounded 2nd on his 2 hr's? that's so philly. lol

I'm having a 'Phillies going to win the World Series' deja vu... They are getting hot, right at the right time...again.

The three best teams in baseball have been eliminated.
That has to change. Clearly the break in rhythm of the best teams as they wait around for the wild cards to play off is having an effect.
The Dodgers probably played the worst baseball of the season after the 5 day gap. They were awful...Seemed as though the whole team was out of sync.

I'm having a 'Phillies going to win the World Series' deja vu... They are getting hot, right at the right time...again. honestly the phillies have been very good for a while. they were five games under .500 on Memorial Day and ended the season 18 games over .500 which is a net 23 wins. on the other hand, the dodgers were 12 games over .500 on memorial day and finished 38 games over .500 which is a net 26 wins. so i wouldn't say the dodgers were that much better than the phillies most of the season. and over that span, we had to play the braves a billion times as well so the schedule was a bit tougher. also, the phillies best player bryce harper missed about half the season b/c he had major elbow surgery last offseason. even when he finally came back, he wasn't himself until mid/end of august. it's not so much they are getting hot at the right time. it's more that they got healthy at the right time.

The Dodgers probably played the worst baseball of the season after the 5 day gap. They were awful...Seemed as though the whole team was out of sync. i don't think it's losing rhythm as much as it is both the phillies and diamondbacks were playing stressful, pressure baseball up until the final week of the season. the phillies and diamondbacks had to win at the end of the season to advance. in the case of the phillies, they had to win to get homefield in the wildcard round. the diamondbacks didn't clinch until one of the last days of the season. meanwhile, the braves and dodgers were on cruise control for most of the final month. i think with the series only being 5 games, the teams that are already mentally focused and prepared have a huge advantage. fwiw, i think diamondbacks have a great chance against the phillies. they were very streaky this year. but when they were good, they were very good. and when they were bad, they were very bad. they seem to be very good again. at the same time, the phillies have a bunch of guys that could get hot at any moment. castellanos was the guy who got hot against atlanta. they still haven't gotten anything yet from kyle schwarber who has a history of being a productive, clutch post season player.
