After his year as OC of the Washington Commanders (under Ron Rivera) former Kansas City Chief's OC Eric Bienemy is heading to UCLA, as OC and associate head coach.
Bienemy grew up in SoCal, before his career as an All American RB at Colorado.
He was Colorado's OC during a disastrous year with Jon Embree in Boulder, before eventually working for Andy Reid in KC.

They are an interesting duo, Foster and Bienemy. It will be interesting to see how they put UCLA back together.

It appears to be the new trend. HCs becoming OC/DC at both the pro and CFB levels. They'll get paid enough, millions,. and get to focus on coaching. And at the pro level, get back part of their life.

He was Colorado's OC during a disastrous year with Jon Embree in Boulder, before eventually working for Andy Reid in KC. fwiw, ki-jana carter deserved the 1994 heisman. too bad he had to split the vote with kerry collins. what's weird about bienemy is that most of the coodinators who coach under andy reid go on to other head coaching jobs. but nobody in the NFL has wanted to hire him as HC despite him winning two super bowls as KC's offensive coordinator. kc's offense was fantastic against the eagles in the super bowl last year. this year, they won primarily b/c of their defense. something about him turns off teams. not sure what it is. he must not interview well? speaking of andy reid, i looked it up and he has a legit chance of becoming the all time winningest coach in NFL history. he needs 68 wins to catch don shula. he's 65 years old. he has mahomes for the forseeable future. i think he'll likely pass shula. belichick needs 26. not sure he coaches again though. i think it's possible a team gives him a chance if they think they are close and need him to get over the top (cough cough cowboys) but i don't think he will be hired to rebuild any teams.

Not sure what the issue is with Bienemy not getting an HC offer-- perhaps a lack of executive experience and success? His brief tenure as an OC in Boulder was a debacle for the Buffs. But he thrived as an Andy Reid subordinate. As for the Chiefs offensive history, I know it well, because Denver plays them twice a year. Tyreek Hill was an awesome weapon for KC, and their offense lacked that threat this year. Mahomes found a way to win in the playoffs, with Valdez-Scantling, et.al., but Hill is a unique threat.

Rumor is he doesn't play well w others and needs a strong HC to clean up after him, moderate his behavior. OC is his Peter Principle, some think. Andy reid came to the Philly interview w a detailed 5" "playbook" of how he'd do it. Perhaps EB doesn't interview well for a HC position. Plus the "new" NFL coaching tree doesn't include his type. Or Bill Belichick's ftm. The NFL is starving for offense, so there's something afoot. Not everyone is fit to be HC.

Every year the eagles owner threw a team party on a monday nite but chip refused to adjust his schedule. Also, after chip was fired, he left town and refused to pay monthly rent on a 10k per month lease. landlord sued him and they settled out of court. fwiw, I’ve heard from people that people who worked with bill O’Brien at Penn state were not sad to see him go. He was supposedly difficult to work with.
