On BAMA alums trading for jerry jeudy. That make 4 former Tide players. The Denver Broncos have now released their star QB, Russell Wilson, their All-Pro Safety Justin Simmons, and their former 1st Round WR Jerry Jeudy. Honestly, I have never trusted their "new" GM, George Paton-- the guy from Minnesota who replaced Elway. He's a schmooze-meister, popular with the owners but, IMO, he has made blunder after blunder since coming to Denver. In fact, he's the guy who mortgaged the farm to bring Russell Wilson to Denver. In that boondoggle, he gave up some 1st round draft picks and $$$$$. He also has a history of hiring expensive free agents who promptly get injured and ride the pine all season. |

'24. He'll work for min NFL wage because he can't work for zero. Someone, maybe SPitt, gets him for $1.2 MM/yr. No one will offer him more and he need not accept more because if he does it just less Denver has to pay him. He'll stick it to Denver and giggle. 24, my mistake. Imo, he's way past his prime. Like cam newton was in new england. Russell Wilson still throws the ball with remarkable precision. And he still has reasonable speed and scrambling ability. His weakness as a QB is his short stature. What I observed during the past two years is that Wilson struggled to stand tall in the pocket and score on crucial drives -- especially in the red zone. The Broncos lost a lot of close games in the 4th quarter that a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning would have won. I think that's the gist of why Paton & Payton are letting Wilson go. |
