Disagree, and here is why. There is a straight down the base path view and over half the plate is still unblocked. All a base runner has to do is run near the defensive player and he can be out by 10 feet and still be ruled safe. This should not be an unreviewable call. Umpires know their continued employment depends on what the commissioner wants so they will make this call often. Ronald Acuna said he could easily steal double the bases as last year with this new ruling.

If I'm the shortstop and I limit your accessibility to just the outside half or even less of the bag, I then know exactly where to drop my glove and be certain to tag you out even without looking to see where you are. It's unfair. If you've got the ball while I'm still 10 feet out, then tag me if you can without blocking the bag.

Disagree, and here is why. That’s some ticky tack nonsense on that call. First of all, the fielder is in the process of fielding the ball. Second, he’s on the inside part of the bag where the runner isn’t going to slide anyway.

Perhaps does not get called in the regular season, but obviously the idea is to extend the blocking of home plate to the other bases. Player will adjust.

For sure, they are making a statement in spring training. And yes, players will adjust even though they shouldn't have to. I get the "logic" behind all of this, but blocking home plate is a different than what is shown in that video. But, MLB has gotta be MLB....if they weren't, they wouldn't have anything else to do.

If you watch the vid, there's a shot of a first baseman with his leg laid out flat, blocking all access to the bag on a P/O throw. It clearly impedes the runner from getting a hand back on the bag. That begs the question, how much access is enough to be fair? Apparently, MLB thinks...'more than last season'.
