Simpson University launches $7.5M Business, Engineering, and Tech department

Simpson University has groundbreaking news. They will be starting to work on the construction of their new Business, Engineering, and Technology department on campus. The project will cost around $7.5 million dollars and will host students who are enrolled in the new majors available, such as digital media, engineering, and computer information's systems.

They met on Friday morning to discuss their plan coming to fruition, starting with coffee -- and ending with shovels being dug into the dirt where the new educational space will be built.

Dr. Norman Hall, the President of Simpson University, was enthusiastic about the new establishment.

"Well this is a momentous occasion, something we've always looked forward to, so, I'm thrilled about breaking ground on our new business, engineering and technology building," said Hall.
Simpson was founded in 1921 on the grounds of biblical studies and missionary work. It was first founded in Seattle Washington, as 'Simpson Bible Institute'. By 1940, Simpson was offering a choice of programs: Theology, Missiology and Bible/Music.

In 1955, the school moved to San Francisco and started granting bachelor's degrees. The college has widened its academic majors throughout time, and by the '70s became a more comprehensive liberal arts college as well as a biblically based school. The school relocated to Redding in 1989.

Redding Mayor, Tenessa Audette spoke at the ceremony about how much the city values Simpson University.

"Schools and the means of education will forever be encouraged, it will always be a priority of Redding to encourage the great work that Simpson University is doing to train, to elevate, and to develop our needed local workforce," said Audette.

More Expansion for Frontier Conference Football

(Helena) The Frontier Conference Council of President’s has officially welcomed Simpson University as an associate member in football. The acceptance paves the way for Simpson to become the 14th football program in the conference, commencing from the 2025-26 academic year. The addition of Simpson comes on the heels of the conference adding football programs from Dakota State, Dickinson State, Mayville State and Valley City State. That will give the conference 14 football members for the 2025 season and the ability for two automatic selections to the NAIA Football Championship Series. Simpson Football Looks Forward to Upcoming Season

REDDING, Calif. - The 2024 Simpson University football schedule was released earlier today with a full slate of 10 games to look forward to in its first season.

The 2024 season will mark the first season of competition in the program's history as they take on some of the top teams in the nation.

Simpson will be participating independently for its first year and is ineligible for postseason play.

The Red Hawks will play all of its home games at Foothill High School in Palo Cedro, CA.

Simpson has three scheduled home games; September 7th Vs. Pacific Lutheran, September 14th Vs. Southern Oregon, and November 2nd Vs. Pacific Northwest Community College.

Based on the final coaches' poll, the Red Hawks will open its season against #10 The College of Idaho before coming home for its home opener against D3 school, Pacific Lutheran University.

After back-to-back home games, the Red Hawks will hit the road to take on #24 Carroll College, Willamette University, #13 Otowa (AZ), #17 Montana Tech, and Eastern Oregon.

The Red Hawks will play its final home game against Pacific Northwest Community College on November 2nd before hitting the road for its season finale in Arizona against Arizona Christian University on November 16th.

The Red Hawks are coming off a season where they played two scrimmage games against Linfield University's JV team and Pacific Northwest Community College.

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University will be holding events for their big Homecoming Weekend on campus this upcoming weekend.

The festivities kick off on Thursday night with the music department of Simpson University holding their Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Student Union.
