This bank robbing thug in Florida thought he was safe behind a computer monitor. He was dead wrong.
Notice the monitor didn't even MOVE when the .308 caliber bullet went through it, and was still functioning after the shot was fired. The POS robber ceased to function.
Slow it down at the 1:45 mark and watch.
An important lesson to be learned here. Concealment might hide you, but COVER protects you.
If you have identified a threat in your home, and he then tries to hide behind a corner, anything .38 caliber and over will penetrate most interior walls and do serious damage on the other side. You will of course have to guess exactly where the bad guy is, and fire multiple shots in case you are unlucky enough to have one or two of your rounds hit a stud, but that's OK. That's why the Constitution puts no limit on how many rounds your gun can hold.
I don't recommend this as Tactic #1. The best thing is to maintain your COVER and wait for the bad guy to come around the corner. MAYBE the police will eventually show up and you won't have to shoot at all.
But if worse comes to worse, fire away. Replacing a wall is cheaper than a family member's funeral.
As an aside, I truly hope i NEVER have to shoot someone inside my house. The resultant blood pools, blood and possible brain splatter, are really messy, and I would probably have to hire a crew of pros to clean up.

I don't own any of those. I have enough different calibers to reload already.
I forgot to mention that if you slow down that video to 1/4 speed at the point mentioned, you can see the back of the thug's head explode and send pieces of skull and possible bullet fragments, depending on the configuration used, into the wall behind him.
There's a good reason they blurred his head after he was down.
I'm pretty sure there a lot of other centerfire calibers that would have the same results at such a close range. Just use a heavy FMJ bullet.

I guess you would have to ask Lee County exactly what bullet their sniper used for this CQB situation. Looks to me like the distance was 30 feet or less.

Gold Dot rifle bullets expand also because of their exposed lead tip.
Police normally use hollowpoints because they don't want the bullet to overpenetrate, and expend most of its energy inside one target.
Hollowpoints also ricochet less if they hit a flat solid surface instead of the bad guy.
We were issued frangible bullets for our Mini-14 Tacticals, so that we were shooting mostly splatterbugs.
I don't know what our SWAT guys used, since the team was made up mostly of untrained cowboys. I declined their offer to join.
