Shingles

Was up visiting my 96 yo father last weekend.
The poor guy came down with shingles a week or two ago. He is not a happy camper.
We all thought of the impact it had on Dianne Feinstein, so we're paying attention to it.

Meanwhile, I decided it was time to get my shingles vax shot, which I did today.

My Sweetheart had shingles about eight years ago. Hers was on her back and shoulders right where her bra strap was. She went braless for about six weeks until it healed. She just said Dial Anti-bacterial soap eased the pain a little..
My former father-in-law had shingles around his waist right at his beltline, and he wore a suit to work five days a week. His came back about every three or four years, for about six to eight weeks each time.
I got my shingles vax about five years ago.

Maybe 25 yrs ago I got hit w Bell's, which is the same virus. Looked like I had a mild stroke. So I went running before coaching a kid's BB game and told my wife where all of the cans were buried, if I didn't make it back . Guy I coached w, that night, was a MD, took one look and said it was Bell's. Hit some steroids and Vitamin "X" and I'd be fine. He also said be thankful it wasn't shingles. To this day, I still can't whistle. Did Shingrex when it came out and before that whatever was the drug of choice. Zosta something or other. Never had any issues w either.

I don't think there is an age limit on shingrex but maybe there is. Now for your dad, he'd have to wait maybe 7 months getting the two part shot and some might suggest it won't matter re time but .........
