The only date available for both teams if the game is rescheduled is the week before the UGALY game. If rescheduled, the game will start at 14:50 of the first quarter with UF at the Idaho 14 yard line as a result of the long kickoff return by Valdez Showers:
By Chris Harry GatorZone.com Senior Writer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Long delay. Long kickoff return. Long faces.
The University of Florida's 2014 season opener against Idaho was suspended late Saturday night after multiple delays due to thunderstorms in the area.
The game was scheduled to start at 7:02 p.m., but one lightning strike after another, all within the 8-mile radius of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, kept pushing the kickoff back again and again.
Gators coach Will Muschamp let the soaked fans that remained know how appreciative he was by pumping his fist at the student section.
Finally, after a two hours and 48 minutes, Idaho's Austin Rehkow put toe to ball at 9:50 p.m. and the Gators' season got underway. Junior Valdez Showers -- with a fitting last name, given the circumstances -- took the short kickoff near the Vandals sideline, darted to his right and raced 64 yards to the Idaho 14-yard line, as the leftover fans at The Swamp cheered wildly.
And just as UF quarterback Jeff Driskel brought his unit to the line to debut a new offense under new coordinator Kurt Roper, officials stepped in, huddled and announced that lightning had struck again inside the 8-mile parameter.
More rain followed.
About 40 minutes later, the game was suspended for good.
“As everyone saw with that opening kickoff, I thought that our guys were ready and fired up to play," UF coach Will Muschamp said in a statement. "We appreciate the fans coming out and supporting us and sitting through several weather delays. It was amazing the energy and passion shown in the stands all night. The Gator Nation showed why they're the best fans in the country, starting with one of the most enthusiastic Gator Walks that we've had since I've been here.”
Though neither team staged media availability after the game, there was concern among both sides about the field conditions. For a Gators coaching staff besieged by injuries last season, who could blame them?
“It's unfortunate that the weather didn't cooperate for tonight's season opener,” Muschamp said. “After long discussions with the head referee, it was determined that the field conditions were too dangerous for the student-athletes.”
More details will be forthcoming regarding the status of any potential makeup game. If the game is rescheduled, it will be restarted from where tonight's game left off, officials said, but that determination will be announced at a later date, along with ticket information.

UF's now first game opponent is Eastern Michigan. EMU beat Morgan State 31-28 at home yesterday. That game also had a lengthy lightening delay. The long-range forecast for next Saturday is a high chance of thunderstorms. (shaking head)
The good news is our suspended players, Darious Cummings/Jay-nard Bostwick/Demarcus Robinson, are tied to the Idaho game and will be allowed to play in all remaining games. If the Idaho game is rescheduled, they will have to sit out for that game.
The other silver lining with the lightening/rain out is David Sharpe and Marcus Maye have been given another week to get their injuries healed.

John Blanchette @jpblanchette Idaho AD Rob Spear said there's "not a lot of interest" from either side in playing a UI-Florida game on their common open date of Oct. 25 As long as Idaho doesn't get burned financially, I can't see them wanting the game. And frankly, it's not in UF's interest either. We can take a little financial hit, unlike Idaho. I'll bet concession sales Saturday night equaled or exceeded a normal game.

I don't think this game hurts UF very much....but if by some weird coincidence, the EMU game gets rained/lightning out...the Gators would start to feel the lack of real game minutes to work out the kinks.
September 20th looms closer and closer.

There is some speculation that the game could be played in December. However, I don't see how that would be possible if UF makes it to the SECCG.
Hopefully, UF gets to play the one-way ticket and UK before going to Tuscaloser. I also don't give a rip about putting a beating on Idaho the week before UGALY.

Let's be honest here. The suspended players were never "tied" to the Idaho game. They were suspended for the gators first game, which you yourself just posted is now set to be Eastern Michigan. Now I don't have much concern over this actually, but let's call it what it is..... Coach Boom needs his best players getting some game-time action before the real schedule starts up, so he's not going to keep his word about holding them out for the first game. It is what it is. If they are now suddenly "tied to the Idaho game" that simply means that Boom knows that: A) If UF does play Idaho (unlikely) then holding out his best players is like, oh let's say...an off week before UGA. B). If UF doesn't play Idaho (likely) then his best players get an off week before UGA and still get the exact same amount off playing time in before the real season starts up. Either way Boom gets exactly what he wants by simply rewording his definition of the term "suspended for the first game". His new definition of " suspended for the first game" reads like this: PLYERS SUSPENDED FOR THE FIRST GAME: Player(s) who are suspended for the "first" game of the season are hereby suspended from said game unless something causes said game to be cancelled. In this case the previously suspended players can actually then play in the newly appointed "first" game. BUT, in the case that the original "first" game is actually rescheduled and is played at a later date, in which case the players who were originally scheduled to be suspended for the "first" first game of the season must then become "tied into" that "first" first game opponent and therefore will be suspended for that "non-first" game (should it happen). But ONLY if the first " first" opponent is rescheduled the week before UGA.

But ONLY if the first " first" opponent is rescheduled the week before UGA. Bama's jailbirds didn't play? Hypocrite. Once the game kicked off, the players became tied to that game. The rosters available for a rescheduled game if there is one must be the same. The down/distance/time will pick up where the game left off after the kickoff. If the players sit out against EMU and Idaho is rescheduled later, it would be double the punishment, two games instead of one game. Looking at UF's schedule, based on the first week games, UGALY is the toughest game left on the Gators schedule.

UF is only playing 11 regular season games in 14 - Idaho officially cancelled and given a return date in 2017:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer
Published: Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 4:59 p.m.
Last Saturday’s Florida-Idaho game started and ended with one play. And that’s the way it’s going to stand in the record books.
Officials from both schools announced Wednesday they have agreed not to resume the game that was suspended by lightning and unsafe field conditions.
The game will go down as a “no contest.”
The two schools considered several scenarios, including resuming the game on Oct. 25, an open date for both schools, but decided canceling it was best for both schools.
"We looked at a number of options and, in the end, we both thought it was in the best interest of our student-athletes and football programs to play out the remainder of our respective schedules as they stand," UF athletic director Jeremy Foley said.
The two schools have agreed to play a game at Florida Field in 2017.
Florida will fulfill the terms of the contract between the two schools and pay Idaho its $975,000 guarantee by February 1, 2015, as outlined in the agreement. UF also will refund those who purchased tickets to the game.
"I want to thank UF, especially AD Jeremy Foley, for the professional and first-class way they worked through this issue and the focus on student-athlete welfare," Idaho athletic director Rob Spear said. "It was not in our best interest to play 10 consecutive weeks without a bye week. We look forward to our return to Florida in 2017."
Had the game been resumed on the open date for both schools (Oct. 25), the Gators would have concluded the regular season with games on nine consecutive Saturdays.
"Like all Gators, I wish we could have played the game Saturday night, but I support the decision made by both athletic directors," Florida head coach Will Muschamp said. "As I said earlier this week, our focus is getting our players and team ready for Eastern Michigan and we are excited to get back out there in front of our passionate and loyal fans."
Starting quarterback Jeff Driskel said Tuesday that the players would be OK with whatever decision the schools reached.
“There are a lot of logistics that go into it that are well out of my reach,” Driskel said. “You know, whatever they tell us to do, that’s what we’re going do and that’s basically all there is to that.”
Junior defensive end/outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. said Wednesday that the Gators are ready to move on regardless of the decision.
“It really doesn’t matter,” he said. “Going into the season when you start getting things rolling, you don’t think about that anymore. That was last week.”
All fans who purchased a ticket through the Gator Ticket Office to the Idaho game will be given a full refund of the single-game ticket price that they paid for the game. This includes all Gator Booster and UF student season-ticket holders, single-game, group and mini-plan ticket holders who purchased through GatorZone, those who called, visited, mailed their order in to the Gator Ticket Office or those who purchased through the TicketMaster Exchange site. The regular ticket price for the Idaho game was $25, the student ticket price was $15 and group ticket pricing varied.

Robbie Andreu @robbieandreu Durkin on Caleb Brantley: He's made great strides since he's been here. He's grown leaps and bounds, very talented guy.
I was very surprised when Brantley wasn't on the depth chart. This is the way I would have had it:
DT: Leon Orr/Caleb Brantley OR Joey Ivie NT: Darious Cummings/Jay-nard Bostwick

There is an 80% chance of heavy rain at the 4PM kickoff today. If it were my decision, I'd get permission from the SEC Network to move the game back to 7PM or 8PM when the chance of rain drops to 50% or below. If it is a wait and see situation, I wouldn't be surprised to see a night time kickoff that the SEC Network can't televise due to other broadcasting commitments. Bottom line, I think the game will be played after a weather delay of 3 to 4 hours. I don't expect the lightning to be near as heavy as last week when the Idaho game was suspended and later cancelled. forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=29.67420&lon=-82.3363&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical

The weather service is predicting heavy rain, the type that could flood the field like last week. That is an unsafe field condition to play the game. If the rain isn't as bad as predicted so that it doesn't flood the field, the game should be played. It isn't the rain, it's the condition of the field. In less than 3 hours we'll know.
