Marco Wilson CB), a top 3 round projected NFL draft pick, didn't get any recognition. Marco played Nickel in the last 5 games of 2019 for the good of the team as Trey Dean was being abused by the better passing teams. To be sure, the NFL won't miss his value as a multi-position player. The watch list people don't understand the talent Marco possesses to have proven to be so valuable for the Florida football team playing both CB and Nickel.
EDIT 12/1/2020:
1. Marco Wilson Kaiir Elam have been a disappointments much like the rest of the Florida defensive backfield sleep walking through the season compared to the Gator standard. Marco and Kaiir along with the rest of the UF defensive backfield has 2 more regular season games to hitch up their big boy britches.
2. Dameon Pierce has played well, but he shares the RB position. UF uses 3 RBs regularly in the games.
3. Kyle Pitts has proven to be the best TE in the nation.
4. Ventrell Miller has proven to be an excellent MLB worth the preseason recognition.
5. Kadarius Toney has had a breakout senior season as predicted. He does it all so he rightly deserves to be on the Paul Hornung list.
6. Evan McPherson likely won't win the Groza. He has missed a couple of FGs, the last was a doink off the right upright vs. Kentucky last Saturday.
7. Kyle Trask has had a superb season, dare I say Heisman season. He is deservedly the Heisman frontrunner with 34 TD passes against 3 INTs. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields have moved down to 3 and 4 on the Heisman list. Turns out the perceived preseason hamburger at Alabama, Mac Jones, is Trask's current biggest threat to keep him from winning the Heisman. Through 8 games, a statistical comparison of the two QBs:
KT: 195-273, 2810 YDS, 34/3 TD/INT
MJ: 173-227, 2728 YDS, 23/3 TD/INT
With SEC only games, the two QBs will play 8 similar opponents. UF will have faced USC and Vandy while Bama will have faced MSU and Auburn. All other opponents will be equal.
So far, 5 common opponents have been played: UK, Ole Miss, A&M, UGA, and Mizzou.
The combined stats for each against the common opponents (ARK isn’t included for KT & TENN isn’t included for MJ):
KT: 125-180, 1803 YDS, 21/2 TD/INT
MJ: 106-139, 1748 YDS, 14/3 TD/INT
Based on the stats, KT has the clear edge in TD/INT, but MJ has the edge in YPA (12.6 for MJ vs 10.0 for KT).
Many reporters are currently speculating that the Heisman should go to the QB of the winning team in the SECCG. The Heisman should go to the best player, not the best team. Kyle Trask deserves to be the current Heisman frontrunner based on the stats. If he continues on pace, he should win the Heisman.
