Ole Miss on October 3 will be a night game at 7 or 7:30 EDT televised on ESPN, ESPN2, or the SEC Network. I hope I'm wrong, but the rebs are likely going to beat the crapola out of UF. Unlike steaksauce, I think the rebs are the real deal. It would be a major upset for UF to pull out a win even with the game in The Swamp. Nkemdiche alone will destroy our OLine.

The depth chart for the UT game (UF is calling for a blue out for the vols):
www.gatorzone.com/football/stats/depth.pdf
With Alex Anzalone out, could be a season ending injury, Anthony Harrell looks to get his first game action of the season. He'll be needed to help stop the UT running game. Harrell is the graduate transfer from Georgia Tech. His father, James Harrell, played for UF back in the late 70s.
With Jeremi Powell out with a foot injury, Marcus Maye will move to LB when we're in the dime package. Maye actually played some MLB in dime package against UK. Nobody noticed so Mac brought it up in his Monday presser.
Mac says he's going to make sure Antonio Callaway gets more touches. That's timely.
Mac says it's likely both QBs play this week. Given Will Grier's mixed results due to running too quickly and leaving big plays on the field while playing the full game against UK, I can see Mac starting Treon Harris if he has a good practice week and because it was Harris that won the at UT game in the 4th quarter last season. If Harris does okay, he might get the whole game like Grier did. My preference remains to start Grier, but play both as the game flow dictates.
Matt Rollins (LB) and Jordan Sherit (DL) will practice this week. I don't know what injuries kept them out, but Rollins has been out since toward the end of fall camp. Rollins came to UF with high expectations, but he has been consistently on the injured list so far. With Anzalone and Jeremi Powell out, this would be a good time to have him healthy.
Cyontai Lewis (TE) is still out with a cast on his hurt hand. My guess is Lewis is out as he would be unable to catch the ball even with a smaller cast on his hand and Mac has shown that he won't play anybody until they are ready to play. We'll be fine with Jake McGee and DeAndre Goolsby, but Lewis has already shown that he is an excellent TE. I really wanted his cousin Bo Scarbrough who went to bama to come to UF with Lewis, but it looks like UF has gotten the better of the two so far. When McGee graduates, I can see Lewis and Goolsby as the 1 and 2 with Carmen Knight right behind them. UF has some really good TEs.

Stakes Only Get Higher as Gators Turn to Vols
By Chris Harry GatorZone.com Senior Writer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- So the Florida Gators are good enough to win a couple non-league home games and beat Kentucky on the road.
That much we know three weeks into the 2015 campaign.
Frankly, that’s been the case for quite a few Florida football seasons.
And as long as we’re dealing in truths, the Gators have won 10 straight over Southeastern Conference East Division rival Tennessee. Last year, the Gators defeated the Volunteers 10-9 on the road by erasing a 9-0 deficit in the fourth quarter and further frustrating the folks of Rocky Top in a series that has turned completely one-sided. UF has won 23 of the last 29 meetings, dating to 1976, with only five losses since the series turned annual in 1992.
So imagine how fired up the Volunteers (2-1, 0-0) will be for their latest crack at the Gators (3-0, 1-0) when the two collide Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
UF coach Jim McElwain would say the game represents another opportunity to play and those opportunities are few. In the more abstract, though, it’s a chance for the Gators to continue that search for an identity, be it at quarterback (Will Grier’s starting status is not a given), at the skill positions (no tailback has been dominate; no wide receiver has stepped to the forefront), on defense (mostly outstanding to date) and special teams (too many missed field goals; not enough flashy returns).
Also, another chance to reclaim The Swamp as the pit for opponents it used to be.
“We’re looking forward to having our fans come out and make this one of the most feared places to play. And for us? Elevating our guys,” McElwain said Monday, two days after his team held on for a 14-9 win at Kentucky to open its SEC slate. “It’s really interesting. You put yourself in position by winning ballgames to play in bigger ballgames. And yet, this is the biggest game of the season because it’s the next game.”
In winning Saturday night at Lexington, the Gators overcame an electric environment and fired-up foe to defeat the Wildcats for the 29th consecutive time. The streak, the longest active run for one FBS team over another, is impressive. The manner in which it was extended, not so much.
UF, with Grier playing the entire game, managed just 245 yards of offense and scored only twice on five trips into the red zone, and went backward on another in the second half after a first down at the UK 28. One of those red-zone trips ended with a Grier interception on first-and-goal at the Kentucky 5 when he tried to lob the ball over a UK defender in the end zone.
“Give it to a lucky fan [by throwing it away], but those are things you learn from and good thing it didn’t come back to bite us,” McElwain said, adding later that not all of UF’s struggles should be put on the quarterback. “The position, I get it, everybody has to write about it. [But] It has as much to do with the other 10 around you and then your decisions in distributing the ball.”
Florida’s six second-half possessions resulted in four punts, the interception and an end-of-game knee after an interception by UF cornerback Quincy Wilson in the final seconds clinched the game.
That sort of productivity -- or lack of -- won't cut it against Tennessee.
“It’s just little things,” sophomore slot receiver Brandon Powell said. “Nothing we can’t fix.”
The next few days at practice figure to determine who’s under center; and for how long.
“Obviously, Will went the whole game, [but] don’t read anything into that as far as how this goes this week,” McElwain said. “That’s something we’ll talk about as we go. I wouldn’t look into that more than we were kind of in the flow there a little bit.”
Grier went the whole game at the expense of sophomore Treon Harris, who made his first big mark as a Gator last year when he entered the Tennessee game on the road and helped spark UF to its come-from-behind win.
McElwain praised Harris’s handling of the situation the other night.
“He’s a true team guy,” McElwain said. “Obviously disappointed and yet -- you know what? -- he’ll prepare, he’ll be ready and we’ll see what happens this week.”
The Gators will be without without inside linebacker Alex Anzalone (shoulder) and backup running back Case Harrison (thumb) for a second straight game, as well as outside linebacker Jeremi Powell, who suffered a leg injury Saturday. The status of tight end C’yontai Lewis (hand) will be determined later this week, but defensive end Jordan Sherit (foot), relegated to blocking on PAT and field-goal units only at Kentucky, is expected back.
Tennessee, now in Year 3 under Butch Jones, looms as the most talented and explosive of the Florida opponents yet. This was supposed to be the season the Vols, winners of four of their final five games in 2014, took the next big step.
After tabbing Joshua Dobbs as their starting quarterback midway thru last season, Tennessee averaged 36.7 points and 431 yards while winning four of its final five games. This season, with Dobbs at the helm, those offensive numbers show 46 points and 435 yards per game, yet in a 31-24 home loss to then-No. 17 Oklahoma, the Vols blew a 17-0 lead and managed only 254 total yards (a mere 125 passing) against a Sooners defense that a week later surrendered 603 yards in a 52-38 win against Tulsa.
Now, Dobbs and his mates will line up against a UF defense that checks in No. 2 nationally (258 yards per game) and first in the country in run defense (55.3 yards per game).
At Kentucky, the Gators blew up the Wildcats’ offensive front. Though UK did come away with 115 rushing yards, the Wildcats were victimized for 10 tackles behind the line (for 58 yards in losses), including six sacks, with two each from Jonathan Bullard and Alex McCalister. On Monday Bullard was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
After watching UK quarterback Patrick Towles throw for 369 yards and three touchdowns in last year’s triple-overtime Florida win, the UF defense limited Towles to just eight completions on 24 attempts for 126 yards and picked him off twice.
“We just got back to the basics. Technique. Having our eyes in the right place,” Wilson said. “We know how to get the job done. It’s just those little things that caused us to give up all those yards. We just focused on the little things throughout the week and we came back better against Kentucky.”
The UF defense got a big lift from the return of junior strong safety Keanu Neal, whose nine tackles rated second only to 10 from inside linebacker Jarrad Davis, who was all over the field.
The Gators will need a lot more this week against a Tennessee offense armed with more dangerous skill-position players, be it running backs Jalen Hurd (300 yards, 5.2 per carry, 5 TDs) or Alvin Kamara (195 yards, 7.5 per, 2 TDs), or the seven receivers, led by sophmore Josh Malone (9 catches, 92 yards, 1 TD), who have caught at least three passes and are averaging better than 10 yards per reception.
For the record, neither the 10 consecutive wins, nor the Gators overall mastery in the series, will be a factor.
McElwain won’t let it be.
"Rivalries, streaks, whatever they are, every coach will tell you each game is an individual event. It's a different set of players,” McElwain said. “I just believe in, if you take care of now, the game is going to come no matter what. Just don't get caught up in all that. Focus on the now and that's what we try to do."

Mac not sugar coating the offense - I wouldn't be surprised to see Treon Harris start against UT:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer
Published: Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 12:38 p.m.
During the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday, Florida coach Jim McElwain was being asked about still working through some kinks on offense, and he jumped in before the question was complete.
“I’ll say working through some kinks,” he said with a laugh. “You’re being nice to me today.”
While the Florida offense obviously still has a long way to go, the defense seems to be playing at an elite level after its dominant performance at Kentucky last Saturday.
McElwain had a lot of good things to say about his defense.
“It’s a defense that’s fun to watch,” he said. “Here’s what I like, the way these guys have kind of embraced each other. It was fun to watch that defense play that game. Then being able to watch the videotape was even more special.”
Overall, McElwain said this is a team that doesn’t really have an identity yet, but he likes this group.
“Obviously, a work in progress, and at the same time, it’s a fun group to be around,” he said. “These guys are dialed in, they’re focused. They do the extra, they come prepared.
“So far, we’ve figured out how to win a couple of ball games. We’ll kind of just continue to slug along and try to get some more, I guess.”

I've just read a rumor that 3 players are possibly suspended for the Tennessee game? Tabor, McAllister, and another?
Any truth to this? If so...the Gates may be in real trouble.

I've just read a rumor that 3 players are possibly suspended for the Tennessee game? Tabor, McAllister, and another? Any truth to this? If so...the Gates may be in real trouble. The rumor started on the 247 Sports UT board. So far, I haven't seen any UF based confirmation.
The 3 players rumored:
Treon Harris - QB Jalen Tabor - CB Alex McCallister - Rush DE
The rumor is failed Mary J tests. If true, the SEC will require multi-game suspensions as it would be the second offense for all three. Lost in the hub bub of the Treon Harris accused of rape situation last year, he also had a failed Mary J test.
Zach A. of the Gainesville Sun said the three players were dressed out and practicing this afternoon. Based on that, I'd presume the rumor is bogus, but only time will tell.

Mac presser in less than an hour. The rumor has been fairly consistent that Treon Harris and Jalen Tabor are out for at least UT. Alex McCallister is rumored not to be suspended. This should be a fun presser. I'm off to get some popcorn.....

Not having Tabor on the other side from Hargreaves is big, because Tennessee can chuck it all over the yard.
Plus UT has a good d-line. I thought Harris brought a scrambling dynamic that Grier doesn't do as well.
This tends to point to a Vol win. Time will tell...

This from the Gainesville Sun:
By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent
Published: Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 5:45 p.m.
Florida will be without two of its key players Saturday.
Quarterback Treon Harris and cornerback Jalen Tabor are suspended for the Tennessee game due to a violation of University Athletic Association policy, UF coach Jim McElwain announced Wednesday.
"I'm not angry at them at all. They had a choice. It hurts. We have a lot of guys who care about this team," McElwain said.
"They'll be back next week."
Neither Harris nor Tabor, both sophomores, have violated a UAA policy before and should serve one-game suspensions. Harris was briefly suspended in October 2014 after being accused of sexual battery but was reinstated when the complaint was withdrawn.
Tabor was cited for marijuana possession in May 2014.
Harris, who started the final six games of last season, has 269 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns in two games played this season. Tabor, a full-time starter since late last year, has 10 tackles and a pick-six in 2015.
Both players were in a car in December, 2014 with JC Jackson who had Mary J in his possession. Harris was charged with driving without a license. Tabor couldn't have been charged or he would be facing a multi-game suspension. Apparently, they didn't learn their lesson to stay clean. (shaking head)
As you know, JC Jackson was later dismissed from UF when he was involved with and later charged for his involvement in an armed robbery.
Treon Harris will be missed, but with his deferred rape charge, driving without a license charged when using Mary J could have been charged as well, and now this suspension, he can kiss his QB battle with Will Grier goodbye. I expect he'll be a transfer next spring. His suspension leaves UF in a tough QB situation as Will and Treon have been getting all of the 1 and 2 reps in practice.
If Will Grier goes down, it's game over for the UT game. Luke Del Rio hasn't been NCAA cleared to play so UF will be down to Vandy QB/WR transfer Josh Grady. I'm not sure what UF could do beyond that, but nothing can be done that would satisfactorily replace Grier or Harris.
Jalen Tabor? I like Quincy Wilson just as well, if not better. Tabor and Wilson have shared the spot opposite Vernon Hargreaves. I doubt Tabor will be missed too much as depth/experience in the defensive backfield is excellent. Hargreaves would be a far bigger loss as he is a top 10 caliber NFL draft talent. Tabor and Wilson are still works in progress.
I was relieved that Alex McCalister wasn't involved in the suspensions.
Bottom line, I'm disgusted with the selfishness shown by Harris and Tabor that has let down the whole team.
