Did you guys catch the few defensive series when both Khairi Clark and Thomas Holley were playing together at DT? Both guys are 6'3"/320. It looked strange to have two 1 technique DTs on the field at the same time. Holley actually got in on one of the QB sacks. He's fast to be so big. Judging by their gut sizes, both could stand to lose about 10 lbs. Holley isn't on the depth chart, but his PT has been increasing over the last couple of games.

While the UF O didn't do much the last 3 quarters, you have to give the Mizzou punter and D the credit they deserve. The punter repeatedly put the UF O in long fields, punted 4 times inside the UF 20, and the tiger D backed it up. However, when the UF O had short fields in the second half, the Mizzou D stood tall then too. Against a lot of teams on their schedule, the tigers can score 14 and then win the game with defense and special teams. The UF D wouldn't allow it last night. The Gators flipped the script on the tigers with the UF O scoring 14 and the UF D scoring 7 and the UF D shutdown the Mizzou O:

COLUMBIA, Mo. — In the development of Florida's offense, the Gators may have taken a slight step backward Saturday, but it didn't really matter thanks to a suffocating performance by the UF defense, which is in beast mode at the moment.
Facts
Quick hitters
In a defensive struggle, the Gators had the superior defense. UF dominated the Missouri offense, harassing true freshman QB Drew Lock and not giving up a third-down conversion until the game’s final seconds.
2. Cornerback Jalen Tabor put the game away midway through the third quarter when he returned an interception 40 yards to give the Gators a 21-3 lead. It was his second pick-six of the season.
3. In two SEC road games this season, the Gators have yet to give up a touchdown. They held Kentucky to only three field goals in a 14-9 win on Sept. 19.
-- Robbie Andreu
Dominant throughout and creating a nightmare scenario for true freshman Missouri quarterback Drew Lock, the defense led the No. 11 Gators to a 21-3 win over the Tigers on homecoming night at Faurot Field to move East-leading Florida to 6-0 and 4-0 in the SEC.
“It wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination,” UF coach Jim McElwain said. “We're going to enjoy it. Sometimes in this business you have to win like this.
“(The defense is) tuned in, they're locked in. They're challenging each other. They're challenging the offense. They're fun to watch. They play the game fast, too. They're one heck of a unit. One of 14 on third down. We got off the field. That's huge.”
The victory sets up a likely top-10 match-up between Florida and LSU in Baton Rouge next Saturday night.
“Best defense in the country against the best player in the country (Leonard Fournette). I would say that,” said sophomore cornerback Jalen Tabor, whose pick-six in the third quarter sealed the victory.
With the six wins, the Gators are bowl eligible in the second week in October.
Missouri falls to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the SEC. Kentucky is now the only other East team that does not have at least two conference losses.
Appropriately enough, the defense produced the big play that put Saturday night's game away — a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Tabor to give the Gators a 21-3 lead with 6:25 remaining in the third quarter. It was Tabor's second pick-six of the season.

Sunday October 11, 2015 Gators Show in Show Me State 21-3
Kelvin Taylor scored a pair of touchdowns for the Gators. Chris Harry By Chris Harry GatorZone.com Senior Writer
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- If you're truly a top-10 team, like the Florida Gators are about to be, performances on the road like Saturday night against Missouri are the expectation.
So call this one a "Show Me State statement."
It may not have been overly impressive, but it was utterly effective. A week after manhandling then-No. 3 Ole Miss, the Gators handled their business as if they were on a business trip -- which they were.
Junior tailback Kelvin Taylor had two first-quarter touchdown runs, sophomore cornerback Jalen Tabor had a 40-yard interception return for a score and the Florida defense overwhelmed the two-time defending Southeastern Conference East Division champion Tigers 21-3 before a black-and-gold crowd 70,767 at Faurot Field.
In victory, the Gators (6-0, 4-0) seized command of the SEC East. They now lead every team in the division by at least two games and hold tiebreakers over three of the East teams, based on head-to-head wins.
"It’s been a pretty emotional stretch," UF's Jim McElwain said after becoming the first Gators coach since Galen Hall in 1984 to win his first six games. "We needed to win a game like that. We didn’t play great. In fact, we played not very good offensively, obviously. But we had our defense step up when it needed to and gave us a kickstart. We flipped the field a couple times."
He paused.
"I’m OK with it.”
UF quarterback Will Grier, making his second start on the SEC road, completed 20 of 33 passes for 208 yards. Taylor rushed a career-high 28 times for 99 yards and the two scores. Together, they led drives of 75 and 82 yards in the first period -- both capped with 1-yard TD runs by Taylor -- to stake the Gators to an early double-digit lead. From there, the UF defense took over, outshining a Mizzou unit that started the game ranked first in the league in both scoring and yards allowed.
"The offense came out fast," said junior safety Marcus Maye, who had one of UF's two second-half interceptions. "They put points on the board for us right away, so we just wanted to feed off that."
And feast on a true freshman quarterback.
Mizzou's Drew Lock, starting for just the second time due to a suspension to Maty Mauck, was under siege most of the night in finishing 16 of 39 for 151 yards and the two picks. The Tigers (4-2, 1-2), who demolished UF each of the last two seasons, found next to nothing going against the Florida defense. Mizzou finished with just 257 yards and went 1-for-14 on third down.
MU, in fact, did not convert its lone third down until 36 seconds remained in the game.
In two road SEC games now, the Gators have yet to give up a touchdown.
"Our defense is for real," tight end DeAndre Goolsby said.
“Boys ball out," Taylor said of his defensive mates. "As an offense we want to keep making plays every time we go out there and score, but at the same time our defense does a great job playing for us too. I feel like it was a team effort win and we just got to keep working with each other and keep playing great ball for each other.”
Tabor's pick-6 at 6:25 of the third period basically iced the game. It was his second interception return for a score this season.
"My whole high school career, I only had one," Tabor said.
Taylor finished off an impressive opening march for the Gators, who rolled 75 yards on 12 plays, with Taylor accounting for nearly half the yards (21 rushing, 14 receiving). He carried a couple Tigers defenders with him on a 4-yard run on third-and-2 on the play before the touchdown to keep things moving.
The Tigers answered the UF score with a 21-yard field goal from Andrew Baggett after Lock took his offense down to the Florida 5 in just three plays before the Gators stiffened on defense.
"They gave us some new stuff we didn’t see on film," Maye said. "But we adjusted the second drive and eventually we slowed ‘em down."
After that first possession of 62 yards, the Tigers gained just 195 yards on 13 possessions the rest of the way, punting nine times.
"They out-executed us," MU coach Gary Pinkel said. "They are a really good defensive football team. We just made mistakes they didn't make. Obviously, offensively we're still having some problems."
On UF's third possession, Grier needed just eight plays to get the Gators into the end zone. A facemask penalty against Missouri, 19-yard run by Taylor and a 21-yard Grier-to-Ahmad Fullwood completion to the 1 set up the junior tailback's second touchdown for a double-digit advantage.
“Once it was 14-3, I felt like if we buckle down on defense, we’ll win the game," Tabor said. "All the offense has to do is put up something."
The Tigers had a chance to cut into the 11-point margin, but Baggett's 54-yard field goal attempt was wide left. UF's Jorge Powell returned the favor with 3:04 to go in the first half when he missed a 36-yarder.
The score remained 14-3 deep in the third period when Lock tested Tabor, the sophomore cornerback, on a sideline route. Tabor timed the play perfected, snagging the ball high, stumbling a few steps, but managing to keep his balance, stay in bounds and race up the Mizzou sideline to put the Gators ahead 21-3.
“We feel like if our offense puts up at least 14 points, it’s going to be hard to beat us because we’re going to buckle down," Tabor said. "We know we’ve got the right players."
Right mindset too.

COLUMBIA, MO – The No. 11 Florida Gators are undefeated, bowl-eligible, and in the driver’s seat in the SEC after an impressive defensive performance in a 21-3 win on the road against Missouri. Jim McElwain is the first coach to win his first six games at the University of Florida since Galen Hall in 1984.
Beating the back-to-back SEC East Champions, coupled with a Georgia loss to Tennessee has given Florida a two game advantage over every team in the SEC and Florida is the master of their own destiny with the opportunity to bring a division title home to Gainesville for the first time since 2009.
How about that?
The Florida Gators who were 11-13 over the past two seasons are 6-0 and are the only team in the SEC East that controls their own fate.

Just read Will Grier suspended for the season? That's a major kick in the nuts for you guys. Fuckadoodledoo! This from the Gainesville Sun - press conference coming up in a few minutes - can kiss this season of hope goodbye - at least those that wanted Treon Harris will get to see it first hand (shaking head):

Florida is expected to confirm at a 2:30 p.m. news conference that starting quarterback Will Grier has been suspended for at least the remainder of the 2015 season for a violation of NCAA rules.
There is a report that Grier will attend the news conference.
Grier became the full-time starter in the third game of the season and has helped lead the Gators to a 6-0 start and No. 8 national ranking.
Sophomore Treon Harris, in a dead heat with Grier for the starting role throughout preseason camp and the first two games of the season, takes over as the starter.
The Gators face LSU in Baton Rouge on Saturday night in a battle of top-10 unbeatens.

I'm still numb from the news on 10.12.2015, but I'd be remiss to not include the HBC retiring from South Carolina: www.gatorzone.com/carter/blog/2102I started the day in anticipation of McElwain's Monday presser and then the news of Grier and Spurrier pops. Wowzer!

Since we are now halfway through CJM's first season it seems a good time for me to evaluate how I feel about him. His introductory press conference didn't sell me much on him. His sincere love of all things UF came across too much like a used car salesman. And that feeling really hasn't changed much. I love his press conferences and how affable he is, but for whatever reason I still question the sincerity of it. But that isn't what is important. With important stuff he has blown me away. The way he rebuilt a crippled oline is just phenomenal. Getting WRs to actually catch balls and get open. His handling of the Treon/Will battle has been masterful. Molding his game plans to the talent on hand rather than his vision I think is the biggest improvement, And I love the way he is laying the foundation for a long term successful program, not just at the SEC level, but at the National level. So in summary, I think he was a great hire, and if he doesn't sincerely love the Gators yet, that's just a matter of time.

I think Mac is still in awe of being with UF. He'll learn the love part as his tenure grows. In much the same way, Urban Meyer enjoyed being with UF, but I don't think he ever fell in love with UF. I really do think Mac will take that next step.
The OL? Outstanding job as you stated. What was once the biggest negative on the team is now trending from neutral to positive with each game:
-RSR Trip Thurman has a chronic shoulder problem, but you'd never know it after Mac gave him the spring off. Thurman plays both LG and C. -3 true freshmen OL have been molded into a 10 deep line, Martez Ivey; Tyler Jordan; Fred Johnson. -Bringing Mason Halter in as a graduate transfer from Fordham paid the immediate dividend hoped for. Halter can play most line positions.
Mac found his WR playmakers and has stuck with them. Players like Latroy Pittman who are overmatched and shouldn't see the field don't. Players who have potential are sitting until they can get the job done, see CJ "can't run a pattern and then catch the ball" Worton. Bringing in Antonio Callaway on NSD was huge. I've see it said in multiple locations that Callaway is the best WR out of Miami since Amari Cooper.
I like the way Mac uses his TEs too. As you know, that was one of my biggest gripes about Muschamp running good TEs off to other programs while converting player from other position to be nothing more than blocking TEs. Playing LSU is timely as Clay "hands of stone" Burton was the TE that dropped a pass in the endzone and a sure win late in the 4th quarter against the tigers last season.
On the QBs, I actually thought he dragged the battle out too long. I wish he had made the decision a game sooner.
Overall, Mac has delivered in taking UF to a higher level both on and off the football field. Definitely an excellent hire. At 53, he's a bit older than the previous hires, but I suspect we will get 10 to 12 good years from him.

Florida cornerback Deiondre Porter was suspended from the team indefinitely Wednesday following his arrest earlier in the morning on aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Facts
Deiondre T.L. Porter was arrested on the following charges:
Felonies • Aggravated battery • 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon • Firing a weapon or throwing a deadly missile into a building or vehicle
Misdemeanor • Criminal mischief
Source: Alachua County Clerk of Court
“He's no longer with the football team,” UF coach Jim McElwain said during the SEC teleconference call. “He is suspended indefinitely for obviously a choice, his choice not to be with us. It's one of those things that we obviously don't condone.”
According to the Gainesville Police Department arrest report, Porter pointed a gun at his pregnant girlfriend and fired a shot into a wall she was leaning against in her apartment on Sept. 29 during a heated confrontation over whether she was cheating with one of his teammates.
The night before, according to the report, Porter had followed his girlfriend into her bedroom, pulled a gun and put it to her head, demanding she reveal if she was intimately involved with one of his teammates.
Police found a bullet hole in the wall and also recovered a .45 caliber shell casing near where the victim said Porter was standing when he fired the shot.
A day later, GPD officers contacted Porter in a vehicle in which he was a passenger. The driver, a friend of Porter's, was found to be in possession of a .45 caliber handgun.
Porter, a redshirt freshman from Tampa, is facing four felony charges and one misdemeanor charge, according to court records.
He is facing two second-degree felony charges — one for aggravated battery and one firing a weapon into a vehicle or building — and two third-degree felonies for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
The one misdemeanor charge is for property damage of less than $200.
Porter's bail has been set at $160,000.
Porter is a key player on special teams.

LB Jeremi Powell is back
LB Alex Anzalone is still in a sling, but is ahead of schedule - I don't think he'll be back this season
PK Austin Hardin is still out - I hope the game doesn't come down to UF needing a kick
