You hear about Davis Tweet today? Says something about he woke up this morning and wrote something about having a chance to feed his family. Then him and I think it was CJ Henderson going back and forth on recruiting him and Henderson wrote something like I need ten thousand bro. Got to believe these kids are trolling fans big time, but I don't think it's a good idea to troll about getting paid. No, I didn't see that tweet, but I did see about a week ago that Davis was reconsidering Miami before he denied it. Since CJ Henderson only wants $10K, that should be no problem for UF's south Florida bagman. I saw a thread last week that he "reached out" to our coaches. Trouble being it seems he and the coaches dont know anything about it. Lot of chatter today on Henderson trending to Miami, so maybe we got a tax refund in. I don't follow recruiting like i use to, but I saw several tweets on UF recruiting being in disarray. Also said your class is in the 30's on ranking? What's going on up north. Yall have limitrd numbers this year?

I don't follow recruiting like i use to, but I saw several tweets on UF recruiting being in disarray. Also said your class is in the 30's on ranking? What's going on up north. Yall have limitrd numbers this year? Last night, UF lost a 4 star CB from California who had been committed since last July. He said something about doing right by his family, but he's still considering UF, UGALY, and UNL. I don't have a clue why he'd leave DBU unless it is to stay closer to home. UF is down to 14 recruits. CJ Henderson? Don't have a clue, but UF has made a few plan B offers at CB in the last few days. That tells me all I need to know on Henderson. Miami picked up a 4 star OL from St. Thomas Aquinas. UF would have had a very good shot, but Mike Summers, UF previous OL coach, going to Louisville has left UF with a coaching slot that won't be filled until after NSD. UF isn't in need of a bunch of OL, but it still hurts to lose out on a quality OL because of the coaching change. UF is down a defensive coach as well due to Collins moving to HC at Temple, but that hasn't affected recruiting that I know of as Randy Shannon was moved into the DC slot. UF will likely hire an OL and LB coach after NSD. A full class will be 24 which would take UF up to the 85 limit. As you know, Jeremy Foley never allowed UF to be over the 85 limit as of NSD even though there are always a few transfers after spring ball. It looks like the new AD hire is sticking to this same recruiting philosophy. I keep reading that UF has a bunch of silents and that UF is going to have a record close on NSD. I've always been in the camp that I want as many knowns as possible before that last weekend closes before NSD. Right now, today, UF is 10 short of a full class. UF had a record signing day close of 6 last season so Mac will get some kids on NSD. My concern is UF is going to pull up short, say 20 recruits, when they should have signed 24. We'll all find out on NSD if a big close was ever in the cards. I do not like silent commitments. I'd rather take a sure thing if it meets our needs rather than having so many that haven't publically committed. As a side recruiting issue, UF missed its biggest recruiting weekend of the season when the hurricane caused the cancellation of the LSU game. As you know, the game was subsequently played in Red Stick with UF winning 16-10. I'm not sure UF has made up for the loss of that recruiting weekend. Edit: This is a timely article from SEC Country on 6 decommitments from UF's 17 class: GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators lost a commitment Wednesday from 4-star cornerback Elijah Blades, one of the top prospects in their Class of 2017. Blades in the sixth prospect to de-commit from UF during this recruiting cycle. Here’s a look back at who Florida lost. 3-star WR Lavarus Tigner, Deerfield Beach, Fla. Tigner was the second prospect to pledge to the Gators for 2017. He received an offer in June 2015 and committed on the spot. However, grade issues caused him to exit the class on Oct. 19 of that year. Tigner’s recruitment never materialized because of his academics and there’s been no news on him since his junior season. 3-star DT Jordon Scott, Largo, Fla. Scott chose Florida over Florida State and Ole Miss last spring. However, his commitment to UF in May (at 350 pounds) was contingent on him losing weight before he enrolled early. Instead, he gained weight during the summer and fall. Scott parted ways with the Gators on Nov. 1 and committed to Oregon on Christmas after officially visiting Louisville and Ole Miss. 3-star JUCO DT Javier Edwards, Brenham, Texas Edwards committed to UF on June 2, the same day he received an offer from the school. However, he did not shut down his recruitment and visited Arkansas and Colorado, as well as Florida. He de-committed from the Gators after his trip to Arkansas, and it appeared he would pick the Razorbacks. Instead, Edwards surprisingly signed with Colorado on Dec. 14. 3-star RB Adarius Lemons, Clearwater, Fla. Florida’s top RB target in this class has been Lemons, who was ranked No. 1 at his position in the state before his senior season. He flipped from North Carolina to the Gators after visiting for Friday Night Lights. But three months later, he backed off that pledge because of his suspension from Clearwater High. Lemons attended a secondary school in the fall to improve his grades and returned to Clearwater. He officially visits UF this weekend and hopes to rejoin the class. 4-star DT Fred Hansard, Princeton, N.J. Hansard chose Florida over Rutgers and Tennessee on Aug. 26, revealing his decision in a commitment video with Bleacher Report. He attended Florida’s last home game against South Carolina and afterward told SEC Country he was “100 percent commit” to the Gators. However, Hansard officially visited Penn Sate on Nov. 26 and flipped to the Nittany Lions during his trip to Happy Valley, citing that he wanted to be closer to home. 4-star CB Elijah Blades, Pasadena, Calif. Blades committed to UF last summer after visiting the school for the first time, but his pledge began to look shaky in the fall once he started gaining new offers. He returned to Gainesville on Jan. 13 for his official visit and claimed he was still solid with the Gators after that trip. But Blades officially visited Nebraska the following weekend and the Cornhuskers caused him to de-commit this week. Southern Cal is also in the mix for him. National Signing Day is Feb. 1.

Darrell, did you do this with your UF south Florida bagman bs? Even with a new HC, there is no difference in Miami. It is the culture of corruption at Miami that never changes. This type of crapola is why I'm disgusted that UF is playing Miami in Orlando in 19. Jeremy Foley on the way out should have never booked that game. I hope new AD Scott Stricklin gets the word not to schedule the candy canes in the future. This from Zach Abolverdi at SEC Country:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Rumors surfaced Thursday about the Florida football program committing an NCAA recruiting violation.
A source close to the program vehemently dismissed the allegations to SEC Country on Friday. A message board post — which later made the rounds social media — alleged that two UF assistant coaches offered cash to a prospect at Homestead High School. The poster also alleged there’s a video and it was provided to the NCAA.
The program source who spoke with SEC Country said Florida has not offered or recruited anyone from Homestead High School in three years. Florida State’s Ermon Lane, a 5-star prospect in 2014, is the last Homestead player UF recruited, according the source.
SEC Country also learned Friday that verbal commitments for the Gators were contacted by Miami staff members who asked the recruits if they would reconsider the Hurricanes because of the alleged NCAA violation at Homestead. Members of Florida’s 2017 football recruiting class told SEC Country they received a text message from UF calling the rumors false.

The rumor took off like a rocket because some Georgia or Georgia Tech rep saw it and ran with it. And you are crazy if you think coaches from other schools are not constantly contacting all of our recruits, every school, trying to see if they get a little wedge in. Nothing there and nothing dirty about it. It is recruiting.

Let me be clear, I despise the program you root for. I don't want UF to ever agree to play that culture of corruption program again.

But, as usual, you offer nothing to prove our staff had anything to do with it. Your staff contacted a Miami recruit who was not yet enrolled but had already moved into the dorms a few years back. Didnt think thzt was particularly cricket, but its recruiting. Again, I like UF, but they do every bit as much as most other schools do in recruiting. Its just your personal bias against Miami.

Gators open spring ball on February 28:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The two-time defending SEC East champion Florida football team opens spring practice on February 28. In addition, the Gators will host their Pro Day on March 28 at Florida's Indoor Practice Facility. Coming off a 9-4 season in head coach Jim McElwain's second season, the Gators will have a different look in 2017. That makeover starts this spring with five early enrollees starting their collegiate careers this spring. The group of mid-year enrollees includes defensive lineman Kyree Campbell (Woodbridge, Va./Wyoming Seminary Upper School), tight end Kemore Gamble (Miami/Miami Southridge), linebacker James Houston (Fort Lauderdale/American Heritage), athlete/QB Kadarius Toney (Eight Mile, Ala./Blount) and offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort (Miami, Fla./Booker T. Washington). After practicing during the week of Feb. 28, Florida will not practice during the week of March 6 due to spring break. The Gators will resume their spring schedule the following week beginning on the Monday the 13th. The Gators are looking to build on the momentum they've created in and around the program as Florida enters Coach McElwain's third season. Since he arrived at Florida, UF ranks second in the SEC in total wins (19) and conference wins (13). However, the team that stands first in each of those categories is Alabama, who defeated UF in the last two SEC Championship Games.

Latest 2017 NFL draft projections for Gator prospects:
The various mock drafts, of which there are many, continue to shift from week to week while the NFL Draft remains three months away. The prognosticators remain divided on which Florida cornerback will be selected higher between Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson. Hey Darrell, that nasty ass negative recruiting about the NCAA rules violation backfired. UF took both CJ Henderson and Brian Edwards away from scUM on NSD. (chuckle) Mac said at his afternoon news conference referencing scUM that UF isn't going to lie and negative recruit with the recruits.

Funny,I saw a couple of stories in the last few weeks about kids dropping UF because tbey said they couldnt trust the coaching staff there. All I read on Richt is how straight up with the kids he is. We got two new starters at corner in todays class so yo are welcome to enjoy both of those boys. We met our needs with speed at WR and three OL that can compete for playing time immediately. I recall Henderson tweeting last week he "needed ten thousand." You gedt asny signing day discount?

WR CJ Worton is no longer on the UF football team. He has been a major disappointment at UF. As he is a rising senior, either he is out of football or he'll have to transfer to a FCS program if he wants to finish his football career in 17. I doubt he will be allowed to return as he seems to have worn out his welcome at UF.
Looking back to when both CJ Worton came to UF and Earmon Lane went to FSU, both were major failures at WR for both schools.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida head coach Jim McElwain entered his National Signing Day press conference smiling, and he left with a grin.
Can you blame him?
If you do not follow recruiting hour-by-hour and happened to plug into the Gators' recruiting efforts via social media the past couple of weeks, you might think Florida was busy chasing Pop Warner players while the rest of college football pursued five-star studs.
The doom and gloom bordered on insanity at times, which, let's face it, in recruiting is more commonplace than should be allowed by law. However, such is the game and if you are a head coach of a program like Florida, well, it comes with the paycheck.
"That's OK,'' McElwain said Wednesday. "That's part of it."
Still, it must be gratifying to get in the last word.
That is what McElwain and the Gators did, signing 18 players to add to the five midyear enrollees already on campus and participating in spring workouts. In the end, the Gators closed fast and furious to finish with a class that is ranked in the top 10 nationally by Rivals.com (ninth), Scout.com (10th) and 247Sports.com (10th), and 13th by ESPN.com.
McElwain's mood was evident soon after he high-fived Albert at the start of his press conference.
"I can't tell you how excited I am for the day, how excited we are as a program, how happy I am for the guys who chose to be Gators,'' he said. "There's a lot of things that go into it, a lot of relationships, a lot of things to be built.
"Things are trending so fastly upward I can't believe it. We're getting there with facilities, which has been a huge asset for us as we continue to move forward collecting future Gators." Florida head coach Jim McElwain was all smiles when discussing the Gators' haul on National Signing Day. (Photo: Tim Casey/UAA Communications) McElwain had plenty to be optimistic about, including a pair of late additions on offense that set many of the same doom-and-gloomers trending in the opposite direction on social media: running back Adarius Lemons and receiver James Robinson.
Lemons played at Clearwater High but missed the second half of his senior season due to off-the-field issues. Robinson starred at Lakeland High and recently ran into off-the-field trouble during a recruiting visit to Ohio State.
Robinson's signing was announced on McElwain's Twitter account right before he arrived at the team's indoor practice facility for the press conference, and while at the podium, McElwain announced the Gators had just received and approved Lemons' NLI.
He answered questions about Robinson's surprise addition.
"Obviously, as in all players, the important thing is you do your research and your background," McElwain said. "My guess is there's a few people in this crowd right here that have some regrets on things they've done, and yet at the same time take responsibility for it. Here is the good thing: We get an opportunity to be involved in his life.
"We get an opportunity to help him move forward, as we do all the players on this team. I'm excited about him being a Gator."
Defensive lineman Tedarrell Slaton (American Heritage High in Fort Lauderdale) and cornerback C.J. Henderson (Columbus High in Miami) are two of the biggest gets for the Gators on Wednesday from players previously uncommitted.
Henderson is one of six defensive backs in the class and one of 11 of the top 50 prospects in Florida signed by the Gators, which is the most of any school in the state. The Gators, after signing four of the state's top 50 prospects in 2016, nearly tripled that total Wednesday.
"It's a compliment to our staff, it's a compliment to high school coaching in this state, and also to the players, wanting to stay home and represent their home state and make this state, make this university and make this program great,'' defensive line coach Chris Rumph said. "Like I tell those guys all the time, you can accomplish all your dreams and all your goals at the University of Florida."
In addition, the Gators did an excellent job of gathering talent in the Tampa Bay region, an even greater task now that former UF assistant Charlie Strong is head coach at USF. Lemons, Robinson, Lakeland Kathleen linebacker Ventrell Miller, Tampa Jesuit running back Malik Davis, Tampa Bay Tech receiver Daquon Green and Tampa Hillsborough defensive end Zachary Carter all signed.
As McElwain departed to enjoy a National Signing Day staff event for his coaching staff, support staff and their families, he clearly was pleased at what transpired Wednesday and over the course of the past week.
Some had the Gators down and out. He never did. The recruiting cycle was just heating up.
"I think we'll enjoy a nice evening with a great class. What was it? A strong finish,'' he said, alluding to a question earlier from a reporter. "Is that what it was? Appreciate it."
And off into the late afternoon sun he went. Still smiling.
