Darrell, the SEC doesn't see it your way. Harrison is playing Saturday against LSU without missing the first half. Nuff said. Actually I didn't see anything saying they did not feel the ejection was warranted. That he plays doesn't affect me at all.

Loucheiz Purifoy thankful for mother's good news:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gators cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy has had a lot on his mind lately. And some days the fact he did not have a career interception until Saturday night didn’t seem that big a deal.
On those days Purifoy often was thinking about his mom.
“I wanted him to stay focused and keep his head up,’’ Rená Floyd said Monday. “He won’t tell you, but he’s got a lot on his plate trying to worry about me. I always tell him, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine.’ I don’t want him to worry.”
The 46-year-old Floyd was able to make it to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday for Florida’s 30-10 win over Arkansas. She felt well enough to drive down from Pensacola with one of Purifoy’s sisters.
Loucheiz Purifoy
Prior to the game Floyd even stopped by her son’s apartment and pulled out a mop.
“You know how boys are,’’ she said. “I cleaned up some.”
In late August Floyd traveled to a clinic in Birmingham, Ala., with her sister Belinda for a day of tests. Floyd needs a kidney transplant and Belinda went to see if she was a good match.
The clinic called back a few days later and asked Belinda to come back for another visit.
“They tested her from head to toe,’’ Floyd said Monday afternoon as she rested from a dialysis treatment earlier in the day. “It’s a process you go through.”
The clinic recently called Floyd and gave her the good news: Belinda is a compatible donor.
Purifoy was one of the first people she called to tell.
“I was in shock. God answers prayers,’’ Floyd said. “I really want to wait until football season is over if I can. I keep praying that will happen.”
Until the doctors call with a specific date for the transplant, Floyd will continue dialysis treatments three times and week and send blood samples regularly to Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Purifoy finally snagged his first career interception and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown against Arkansas. There was chatter last week about Purifoy’s slow start. Other than for a blocked punt at Miami, Purifoy didn’t have many season highlights.
He made up for that by halftime Saturday, including a sack, forced fumble and pass breakup prior to his interception. Purifoy was named Walter Camp and SEC defensive player of the week for his performance.
He didn’t make any excuses when asked after the game about his quiet start.
“It’s a lot of pressure, but you take it and deal with it,’’ Purifoy said of the high expectations prior to the season. “You’ve got to play and fill up to what people expect. I don’t like letting people down. If I let my team down then I ain’t doing my job.”
Florida coach Will Muschamp said that wasn’t the case despite the lack of big plays.
Floyd was thankful she was there to see Purifoy’s first pick.
“When he intercepted that ball and made the touchdown, I was jumping and a clapping and then I had to sit down,’’ she said. “I broke down and was crying. I was so happy for him. He always says, ‘I’m going to get me a pick.’ It was so exciting.”

Miles says LSU defense will help Mettenberger more The Associated Press
Published: Monday, October 7, 2013 at 6:41 p.m.
Last Modified: Monday, October 7, 2013 at 6:41 p.m.
While Les Miles is not pleased by the 67 points LSU yielded in a six-quarter span, the Tigers' dominance of their last half of football offers hope with the toughest stretch of their schedule looming.
The 10th-ranked Tigers' defense was shredded on the ground and through the air by Georgia for four quarters and by Mississippi State for two more. But LSU yielded just three points in the second half of its 45-26 victory at Mississippi State on Saturday.
Miles says LSU is "making strides on defense."
LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger is on pace to set school records in yards and touchdowns passing. But he'll likely need help from the Tigers' defense in upcoming SEC games against No. 17 Florida, Ole Miss, No. 1 Alabama and ninth-ranked Texas A&M.

I read somewhere that Dante Fowler is 6'3"/277, not 266. Dante is a freak of nature playing DE/Buck:

The quarterbacks he’s been hitting and harassing all season may find this hard to believe, but Florida defensive end/outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. is actually a big softy off the field.
“He’s a big kid,” senior defensive back Jaylen Watkins said. “He’s tough on the field, but he’s like a little teddy bear off the field. He’s funny, he jokes around. I’ve never seen him mad, either.”
Fowler said that’s an accurate description of him.
“I’m just a big, goofy, teddy bear guy,” he said. “I’m just nice to everybody. It’s crazy, though, because on the football field, I’ll probably say some things and people will be looking at me like, ‘What?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry bro, it’s football.’
“I always want to play mad. I feel like it brings the best out of me. You always want to be serious on the football field. The offense is not your friend. I’m not going to let them be my friend and be all buddy and pal with me. I want to break them.”
Fowler said his goofy side off the field comes naturally.
“Look at me, I’m smiling right now,” he said. “I like to play around and stuff. I just turned 19, so I just try to live life. I’m still a kid. I’m not 21 yet. My mom still washes my clothes and things like that.”
UF coach Will Muschamp said Fowler is a good guy to have around.
“Dante has a great personality,” he said. “He’s a lot of fun to be around and coach. He’s a joy to coach. You can coach Dante hard. Guys of his caliber sometimes are not approachable in that situation. He’s a guy that takes coaching. He wants to be coached hard.
“When he makes a mistake, he wants to know what he can do to get better. He’s just a very coachable player. That’s what makes him a really good player.”

THE PRESSURE WILL BE ON THE DEFENSE
It used to be relatively easy to scheme a defense against LSU. You played the run on first and second down, then played the pass on third down. The Tigers were so predictable, which probably has a lot to do with Alabama beating the Tigers in the 2011 national championship game and one of the reasons Will Muschamp was able to scheme the Gators to a 14-6 win over LSU last year in The Swamp. When Florida trots out on the field at Tiger Stadium Saturday, Muschamp and his defensive staff will have their hands full. This is one of the most dynamic offenses in the country with Zach Mettenberger playing like a first rounder at quarterback and Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry playing like they’ll be starting somewhere in the league next year. Throw in the fact the Tigers have four running backs, all of whom would start for Florida, and you have yourself a full fledged dilemma. How do you scheme against these guys? Stack the run, they kill you with the pass. Drop seven into coverage and they pound you with the run. To win this game, Ronald Powell and Dante Fowler are going to have to play out of their minds coming off the edge and there can be no mistakes in the secondary, which is bolstered by the return of Marcus Roberson after missing three games with a knee injury. It will take Florida’s best effort of the year to win this one.
FLORIDA-LSU FLASHBACK, 2000
The week after Florida’s defense was taken to school for more than 500 yards in a 47-35 loss to Mississippi State in Starkville, Steve Spurrier made wholesale changes, the most notable at quarterback where Rex Grossman got the start against LSU and its new coach Nick Saban. Grossman didn’t disappoint the sellout crowd at The Swamp, hitting 18-28 for 276 yards and three touchdowns, all to Jabar Gaffney including one on the most memorable play of his career. On Grossman’s first touchdown pass, center David Jorgensen snapped the ball over his head. Grossman looked like an outfielder the way he tracked the ball down, picked the ball up cleanly on the bounce, then turned and threw to the left corner of the north end zone where Gaffney came down with the pass for what went down as a 26-yard touchdown. The Gators went on to hammer the Tigers, 41-9.
WHY NOT THE ZOOKER?
Miami of Ohio did Tuesday what it knew it would have to do in November, so rather than delay the process, jettisoned Don Treadwell, who started the season 0-5. Miami has been on a downhill slide the last few years, a distressing turn of events at the place called “The Cradle of Coaches.” Given what Miami pays (about $400,000) it could go after some young coach with no proven track record, or do something smart like hire Ron Zook. Zooker doesn’t need the money (settlements at Florida and Illinois have him set for life), he’s an alum who played there for Bill Mallory, and he will definitely recruit like crazy and put the program in shape to compete with anyone in the MAC. I’ve always been convinced that in the right place, Zooker can win big and Miami of Ohio is the right place.

Mark, I agree with you. UF seems to be getting more respect than the Gators deserve having lost to the only good team they've played. However, that changes starting with at LSU this week. UF still has at LSU, at current unbeaten Mizzou who plays at UGA this week, UGA in Jax, at USC, and FSU. There are too many good teams on UF's schedule to look past anyone. It's truly one game at a time that counts.

A colleague of mine walked up to me after the Florida-Arkansas game and said what a lot of us have been thinking. “I don't know anything about football. Because if you would have told me Florida would be better with Tyler Murphy than Jeff Driskel I would have told you that you were crazy.” Ditto. When I was speaking to Gator Clubs around the state in August, my standard joke was that I might be the next in line to play quarterback if Driskel went down because there was nobody behind him. What we didn't know was how much Murphy had improved behind closed doors. I think there's also this — he's a gamer. Look, there was a reason he was fourth-string behind two true freshman in 2011. And third-string behind two sophomores last year. But Murphy has shown that hard work and film study can pay off. That said, we'll never know what Driskel might have done in these last three games had he not suffered the season-ending injury. Murphy's biggest games are still to come, but it's not like he'll be going against the 1985 Bears defense. His next four games are against teams that rank seventh, eighth, 10th and 11th in the SEC in total defense.
At the same time, the Gators still have to face five teams who would be ranked in the top 20 of the BCS if it were released today (according to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports). It's a brutal gauntlet even if it's different than what we were expecting because of this sudden lack of defense in the SEC. It certainly makes for some entertaining viewing. Georgia's games this season would make a wonderful mini-series. While the Bulldogs caught a break when Pig Howard dropped the ball just before the goal line, you have to think Aaron Murray is right in the middle of the Heisman Trophy race now. He's had enough Heisman moments to last two seasons.

A win in Red Stick for UF would be statement game for sure. While UF is 2-3 over the last 10 years in Red Stick, the Gators are 16-14 historically. UF has had success playing at LSU.
UF seems to be taking motivation from the 41-11 embarrassing woodshed whipping the tigers put on the Gators 2 years ago. LSU can't afford a second SEC loss. Both teams will be highly motivated to win the game.

From Dandy Don:
10/8/13 5:45 am CT
Good morning, Tiger Fans,
The LSU football team is busy preparing for what will undoubtedly be the biggest test thus far for the Tigers’ high-powered offense when they take on the Florida Gators this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. The game will be televised on CBS with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Tracy Wolfson on the call and will mark the 10th straight year that both LSU and Florida – permanent cross-divisional opponents - enter the game ranked in the Top 25.
What makes this year's game especially interesting is that it will feature one of the league’s most prolific offenses against the league's top defense. LSU’s offense ranks among the SEC leaders in scoring (3rd at 45.5), passing (3rd at 291.5) and total offense (4th at 488.8), while Florida’s defense leads the league in scoring (12.2), total defense (217.0), pass defense (152.0) and rushing defense (65.0).
Yesterday Coach Miles met with the media for his weekly Lunch with Les press conference, and here is a complete transcript of what was said, as provided by LSU’s Sports Information Department. LSU also released this week’s Game Note yesterday and it is filled with impressive stats. Below are a few of those stats, along with a few key comments from Coach Miles’ presser.
From LSU’s Game Notes:
• Zach Mettenberger was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for his play in LSU’s win over Mississippi State. With 1,738 passing yards and 15 TDs, Mettenberger is on pace to set the school record in both categories.
• Mettenberger has thrown for 300 yards or more in back-to-back games, joining Tommy Hodson (1989), Rohan Davey (2001) and Matt Flynn (2007) as the only players in school history to accomplish the feat.
• Odell Beckham Jr. leads the nation in all-purpose yards with 228.2 per game and he’s averaging 21.1 yards every time he touches the football. He’s accumulated 1,369 all-purpose yards on 65 touches this year (3 rush, 7 punt ret., 19 kickoff ret., 35 rec., 1 ret. of missed FG).
• Beckham and Jarvis Landry form the nation’s top wide receiving tandem as they’ve combined for 77 receptions for 1,302 yards and 13 TDs.
• LSU has scored 30 or more points in the first six games of a season for the first time in school history and they’ve accounted for 400 or more total yards in all six games – also a first for LSU. For the first time in school history, the Tigers have scored at least 35 points in six straight games.
• Mettenberger has started 19 straight games, the longest streak by an LSU quarterback since Herb Tyler had 37 consecutive starts from 1995-98. Mettenberger is 15-4 as LSU’s starting quarterback.
• Jarvis Landry has caught 42 passes this year with 31 of them going for first downs. Of those 27 first down receptions, 14 came on third down.
• LSU has played 14 true freshmen so far this season. The 14 true freshmen rank as the nation’s third-highest total, trailing Texas A&M (17) and UCLA (16). In nine years under Miles, LSU has sent a total of 87 true freshmen to the field.
From Monday’s Lunch with Les Press Conference:
• When asked for an injury update on Tajh Jones, Loston and Jarvis Landry, Miles said that all three should be ready for this week’s game, but that the one furthest away is Jones.
• Coach Miles called Rashard Robinson an “exceptional guy” and said that he is ready to play corner, which is why Jalen Mills played nickel.
• Coach Miles spoke highly of Corey Thompson who started Saturday in place of injured Craig Loston, saying that Thompson communicated well with the secondary and made some tackles.
• When asked why we didn’t see the backup quarterback late in last week's game, Miles explained that he wanted Mettenberger to work on the four-minute drill, plus they were just going to be handing the ball off anyway.

Les Miles comments on UF at his weekly press luncheon:
On to Florida. We'll be challenged. A very, very talented team. They have good players. They'll be coming to Tiger Stadium. Any time that we get these two teams matched up, I can think back into '07, and think back into times that we've faced Florida in this stadium, they've always been very competitive, a great challenge certainly to both teams. So good, quality Florida team, ranked number 17, which in my opinion, they look a lot better than 17. They're the No. 1 team defensively in the league. They're allowing 12 points, 217 yards, 65 yards rushing and 152 yards passing. They lead in all major defensive categories. Again, a very sound scheme. They don't give up big plays. Again, Will Muschamp does a great job with that defense.
Offensively they're averaging 25 points, just under 400 yards a game, 107 yards rushing and 200 yards passing. And they, again, good balance. The quarterback is a play maker. Tyler Murphy, and they have two very, very quality running backs and this Trey Burton comes in. He's a play maker. He leads them in receiving, and he can play quarterback kick. I thought he seems like we've been playing that guy for a long time. We need check his eligibility. But a very, very quality team and we're looking forward to getting to work on him today. It's a workday. We look forward to welcoming Florida to Tiger Stadium, and we expect that it will be a loud, very, very home team friendly crowd.

UF's SEC results from 2012 and 2013 to date. The Gator D hasn't given up more than 20 in SEC play. I don't think it's a stretch to think LSU will get 1/2 or less of their 2013 average point production of 45.5. I'm calling the game 24-20 UF:

Georgia Southern will be on pay per view - I'll probably just watch it on BWTGs:
UF's Nov. 23 home game against Georgia Southern at 2 p.m., on PPV Special to Gatorsports.com
Published: Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:06 a.m.
Last Modified: Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:06 a.m.
Florida’s Nov. 23 home game against Georgia Southern will kick off at 2 p.m. and will be on pay-per-view to viewers of participating cable systems, satellite systems and commercial establishments throughout Florida.
Per SEC television contracts, when an SEC team does not have its game selected for live TV by one of the SEC’s television partners (i.e. CBS, ESPN, SEC Network, etc.), it is permitted to offer that game live on a statewide basis on pay-per-view. Therefore, this game is not available to Sun Sports to air live on its network, but Sun Sports can produce the telecast and make it available to Florida cable/satellite systems and commercial establishments to deliver via pay-per-view.
Cable/satellite systems offering the game on pay-per-view will designate a channel location, separate from Sun Sports’ channel, for the pay-per-view presentation. Viewers should call/contact their local cable/satellite company for further details. Outside Florida, the game will be offered via ESPN GamePlan.
