Still ET...you have to admit, losing those 3 from your class would be a major blow. Losing them to FSU would be worse. QB Will Grier is the only can't miss on player in this class. He's solid and will be getting an early start as an EE. Strength and conditioning needs to put 20 pounds on him over the next year, but this kid is a can't miss super star. I was hoping he could redshirt his first year, but Tyler Murphy transferring likely nixed that. Dalvin Cook, with all due respect to Darrell who thinks he's a better CB, is the best RB UF can get in this class, but he's a luxury. The problem is that UF has stuck with him so long that it will be hard to get another top RB this late. Given that UF will be 4 deep at RB and 5 deep with RB/S Valdez Showers, it isn't critical that UF gets a RB in this class. After next season, Mack Brown will be the only RB to leave the program. UF can bring in two in 14 like they did in 12 and be just fine. Ermon Lane and JC Jackson can be replaced. It's their choice right now. If clear intentions aren't made known, it'll be UF's choice after the dead period expires. I've seen many a good player lose their seat on the UF bus by wavering and having another good player step up and take their seat.

As for Dalvin Cook, I agree that he is a stud at RB, and will likely fight for carries as a frosh no matter where he ends up. With that said, the one position where I think the Gators are solid is at RB. Matt Jones, Lane, and Taylor, are all very good players. Cook would be icing. I disagree with you though about Ermon and JC Jackson. The Gators are woefully lacking in talent at wide receiver, and both of those guys are very good at wideout. True, if there is one position where Florida churns out good talent, it is wide receiver....but there's a reason Lane and Jackson are in the Rivals250.

What will Lane and Jackson bring to UF that the Gators don't already have? Give UF a WR like that big stud FSU starts and then I'd agree with you. That guy is a difference maker.

What will they bring to the table?
UF right now, going into next season, has maybe 1 or 2 wide receivers total...that scare anyone at all, and that is Robinson, and mayyyyyybe Fulwood. Robinson is the only one in the same zip code with regard to height.
I follow recruiting pretty closely, and the only wide receivers who I recognize on the Gator roster next year are Bailey, Robinson, Fulwood, Pittman, Dunbar, and Debose. Robinson is the only one out of that group that I would be concerned with, if I were a solid defense. You guys simply don't have enough playmakers at receiver. There's a reason nobody fears UF's passing game, and it isn't ONLY because Driskell isn't that good.

I've seen many a good player lose their seat on the UF bus by wavering and having another good player step up and take their seat. You do love to obsess about the corner comment. Remember that I said I'd love to have Yearby and Sony so we could stick Cook at corner because many think he would also be the top rated cornerback if he was being recruited to play there. He is dynamic with the ball in his hands and you would only do such a move if you had the problem of a lineup of Duke, Yearby, Sony and Cook, in order to get him on the field. As is, we also have Brandon Powell committed. He has said he is willing to move to cornerback if Cook commits, but some people think he may bolt for UT if we were to get Cook. Got to say, Cook has really made it interesting. At some point in his recruitment UF fans, UM fans and FSU fans have all felt he was a lock and at some point they all felt they lost him. Everything I see now puts FSU most likely, followed by UM and then UF. So, he probably winds up at Texas.

There are no guarantees that Lane or Jackson will be playmakers as true freshmen. Lane had a down senior season. What separates these guys from Ryan Sousa who recently decommitted FSU and committed to UF?
Robinson? Ahmad Fulwood had a better year than Robinson. Demarcus Robinson was a bit disappointing to me with the opportunities given to him. I'll agree he has potential, but potential doesn't perform and win games.
Andre Debose? We know he can lead the SEC in kickoff returns. Anything at WR beyond that is gravy train.
UF has some young WRs so again I ask what Lane and Jackson can give to UF in 14 that UF doesn't already have on the roster? I'm more enthused about seeing what Moral Stephens brings to the table as a true freshman. He's a hybrid WR/TE type of player UF doesn't now have on the roster.
Having playmakers is important. I just don't see Lane and Jackson as the type of players to come in and make their marks as true freshmen. UF will have to work with the players they have now. How bad can that be as UF's 12 WR recruiting class was rated #1 in the nation by several recruiting services? At some point, they should pan out in a good way for UF.

This kid may take Austin Hardin's ship if he beats him out. Hardin has been a major disappointment in terms of accuracy and length:
Gators adding walk-on kicker By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent

Florida’s starting kicker job will have some more competition in 2014.
Former Army All-American Brooks Abbott is transferring to UF in June.
The Jacksonville Bolles alum left Virginia Tech in August after one year with the Hokies as a preferred walk-on.
During his freshman season, he was used 39 times as a kickoff specialist but did not try a field goal. Abbott connected on 11-of-15 attempts (long of 47 yards) as a high school senior.
He spent this past semester at Florida State College in Jacksonville and can play next season for the Gators with three years of eligibility remaining.
Abbott will start out as a preferred walk-on and compete with Austin Hardin and Frankie Velez. In 2013, the two made just 10-of-20 field goal combined attempts.
“The struggles of the kickers this year played a big role in my decision to come, but those guys are very talented,” Abbott told The Sun via text message. “Coach (Will) Muschamp is a no-nonsense kind of guy who will tell you how it is and go with the best player. That's all I wanted in a coach.”

It's not that the kids aren't wanted. They would be part of building the roster just like other recruits. Realistically, they won't be game changers for UF in 14.

UF signs JUCO OL - will enroll in January:
UF football lands JUCO lineman By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent

It didn't take long for Florida to replace Ian Silberman following his transfer to Louisville earlier this week.
UF coach Will Muschamp offered a scholarship to Tyler (Texas) Junior College offensive lineman Drew Sarvary a few days before he planned to sign with Texas Tech, the school he committed to on Oct. 1.
Despite the short notice, the Florida native flipped to the Gators on Wednesday and faxed in his national letter of intent.
“Thankful for all my opportunities but I have decided to sign with the University of Florida,” Sarvary wrote on his Facebook page earlier Wednesday.
UF coach Will Muschamp announced the signing hours later.
“We are excited to have Drew join the Gator football program,” Muschamp said in a UF release.
The 6-foot-5, 318-pounder signed with Florida A&M out of Tallahassee North Florida Christian in 2012 and started 10 games as a true freshman, with his first start coming on the road against Oklahoma.
Sarvary played this past season at Tyler Junior College and was a first-team selection in the All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference.
ESPN senior recruiting writer Jeremy Crabtree scouted Sarvary earlier this month and shared his thoughts about him on Twitter: “Saw this kid in the bowl game two weeks ago. He's nasty.”
The Gators now have 19 members in their 2014 class with the addition of Sarvary. He has two years of eligibility remaining and will be one of seven early enrollees for Florida in January.
The other 12 verbal commitments are not binding until those prospects sign their national letters of intent Feb. 5.

Alex Murphy to transfer to UF - brother of Eric:
By Kevin Brockway Staff writer
Published: Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:12 a.m.
Last Modified: Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 12:31 p.m.
After an older brother’s success at Florida, Alex Murphy is looking forward to carving out his own legacy with the Gators.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Murphy confirmed Wednesday he’s transferring to Florida. Murphy visited Rhode Island last week after leaving Duke, but felt the chance to play for Florida coach Billy Donovan was too good to pass up.
“At the end of the day, it was just my comfort level with the program and the coaches,” Murphy said. “It was a gut feeling. It was where I wanted to be.”
Murphy said his older brother, former Gator and current Chicago Bulls forward Erik Murphy, played a role in the decision. Erik Murphy scored 1,052 career points and was part of three straight UF Elite Eight teams before being drafted in the second round by the Bulls last June.
“He obviously was an advocate for the program, and he told me numerous great things about his time at Florida,” Murphy said. “But ultimately, it was my decision.”
A redshirt sophomore, Murphy said he intends to enroll at Florida in January and will try to apply for a waiver from the NCAA to play next fall. Murphy redshirted his freshman year at Duke due to concussion issues. If Murphy doesn’t get the waiver, the earliest he would be eligible to play would be in December of 2014 (the day after final exams for the fall semester). He can begin practicing with the Gators immediately in January.
Murphy was the 15th-ranked player in the Class of 2012 when he initially decided to enroll at Duke. At 230 pounds, Murphy can shoot out to the 3-point line like his brother, but also showed the ability to score off the dribble in high school. But in two-plus years at Duke, the combo forward was unable to find consistent playing time in Duke’s deep and talented rotation.
Down the road, Murphy could play a big role in UF’s frontcourt. Florida’s all-senior starting frontline of Patric Young, Will Yeguete and Casey Prather are graduating at the end of the season. In addition, it appears junior center Damontre Harris’ days with the Gators are numbered due to disciplinary issues. Donovan said he doesn’t expect Harris to play at UF.
Asked about playing time, Murphy said: “I don’t expect anything to be handed to me. I want to earn what I get. That’s why I wanted to come to a big-time program like Florida. I want to come in, play my role and show the coaches what I’m capable of doing and how I can contribute to the team.”

UF announces Gators vs Michigan to open 2017 season:
By SCOTT CARTER GatorZone.com Senior Writer
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley receives calls regularly that pitch potential nonconference games for the Gators.
The latest offer was too good to pass up: Florida vs. Michigan at AT&T Stadium -- aka Jerry's World -- to open the 2017 season.
The 2017 Cowboys Classic is scheduled for Sept. 2, 2017, and will be broadcast nationally. When Foley was recently approached about the possible neutral-site game against the Wolverines, he was intrigued for several reasons.
"You don't get these opportunities very often,'' Foley said. “Our schedule has been pretty consistent through the years. We were presented this opportunity and just thought it was something that our fans would embrace, our program would embrace.
"It would give us great national visibility. Obviously, a very difficult ballgame against a storied program -- that excites us."
The matchup against Michigan will be the Gators' first nonconference game away from the Sunshine State since a loss at Syracuse in 1991.
While Florida and Michigan have met twice in bowl games, this matchup is a showcase game to open the season in front of a national-TV audience (broadcast plans will be announced at a later date). The Wolverines opened the 2012 season against Alabama in the Cowboys Classic before more than 90,000 fans at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
While this is a rare move for the Gators under Foley's leadership, he emphasized the game does not signal a shift in Florida's scheduling philosophy.
"I think when you are presented with unique opportunities you need to look at it for your fans' sake, for your program's sake,'' Foley said. “It's something we will not do on a consistent basis because we like playing seven home games. Seven home games are obviously important to our program, important to the city of Gainesville.
"It will be very much the exception, not the rule, but to sit here and totally close the door on these opportunities just doesn't make sense."
Ticket information for the game will be announced at a later date. The neutral-site aspect of the offer was very important to Foley.
"The opponent was extremely attractive. The facility, the city, and the national exposure -- I think it will help in recruiting,'' he said. "It will give fans a great experience to get away, follow the Gators and start the season."
Coincidentally, this won't be the first meeting between the Gators and Michigan at AT&T Stadium. Foley and Florida's administration got a good look at the facility in the spring when the Gators men's basketball team faced Florida Gulf Coast University and Michigan there in the NCAA Regional rounds.
The $1.2 billion stadium opened in 2009 and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said he wants the state-of-the-art facility to be "more familiar than the White House."
The stadium has already hosted a Super Bowl and is scheduled to host the 2014 NCAA men's Final Four and, in 2015, the first college football national championship game under the new playoff format.
And in 2017, a Florida-Michigan season opener.
"This is a great opportunity to expose the University of Florida nationally, playing one of the greatest programs in the history of college football, I think a tremendous trip for our fans,'' Foley said. “We just haven't done much of this, certainly as long as I've been athletic director. I think there are a lot of positives that come out of it."
