Hosting your first dual meet after back-to-back road wins to open the season? Exciting.
Having one of your biggest SEC rivals as the opponent? Motivating.
Competing for the first time at home as the defending NCAA champions? Priceless.
Such is the scenario for the No. 3 Florida Gators, who square off against No. 6 Georgia Saturday at 7 in the O'Connell Center.
The meet kicks off Pack the Dome weekend at UF, with the goal to draw a combined 25,000 fans to the four sporting events scheduled. The O'Dome also will play host to the Florida-Auburn swim meet Saturday at 11 a.m., the Florida-Tennessee men's basketball game Saturday at 4 p.m., and the Florida-Auburn women's basketball game Sunday at 3 p.m.
“I am incredibly stoked for this weekend,” said sophomore All-American and reigning SEC Gymnast of the Week Bridget Sloan. “I was thinking about it last week, like 'Oh my gosh, one more week and then we're home.' I really do hope we can pack the dome and have everyone come out and support us.”
Considering two of the top four all-time home gymnastics crowds — highlighted by a program-record 10,855 in 2008 — have been recorded at Florida-Georgia meets, Sloan may well get her wish.
The Gators (2-0, 1-0) are coming off a 197.075-196.225 win at No. 18 Auburn last Friday after traveling across the country and opening the season at No. 4 UCLA on Jan. 11, where they prevailed by the smallest of possible margins (0.025) in a 196.65-196.625 win.

But it isn't Nole bias when you say that if Driskel doesn't improve you'll finish at 7-5 or 8-4. Makes perfect sense. LOL

If he comes back ready to go from his broken leg, Kurt Roper will have him an offense tailored for his skill set. At 6'3"/240 and good speed, Driskel can be a monster in the right offense. I'll be making my prediction when Driskel shows he's physically fit and how he does in Roper's offense plus how some of the other injuries play out as well. Bottom line, you have to be right that Driskel can't improve for your prediction to also be right. I'm not ready to agree with that assessment at this time.

Actually...I don't have to only be right in that vein. There are several ways the gators can go 8-4 this year. Driskel sucking is just the most obvious.
Your offensive line has to improve more as well...but in your defense it had several injuries and couldn't build continuity.
You also need to shore up more on the defensive line. Fowler is a bona fide stud and Bullard looks very solid, but Powell is gone, right? I wasn't overly impressed with Jacobs or Cummings....but with another year, who knows?

No continuity on O is exactly right. It started with Driskel having his appendix out the day before the start of fall practice and with Matt Jones having a viral infection that kept him out of practice until the week of the Miami game. There were other injuries, but those were the two biggest at the time.
Fowler and Bullard are future NFLers. Bullard is a classic SDE who was forced to play inside way too much due to injuries at DT.
Jacobs started two years in a row and is now graduated.
Cummings will do fine. He actually played well in his junior season.
UF redshirted several players at DT who should have played last season with all of the injuries. Jay-nard Bostwick was touted as being ready starting from LSU onward, but Muschamp never pulled his redshirt. It made me mad as hell to have a run stopping DT on the bench under a redshirt when we needed the talent and depth.
Powell is off to the NFL, but he was an underperformer for me in his time with UF. It wasn't the injury so much as he always seemed to be a step slower than what was needed at the OLB/Buck position.
To me, the biggest need on offense is to find a TE who can do more than block. The pass catching TE less offense UF ran under Pease was stupid to say the least. Colin Thompson could fill the 1 spot if healthy. The 1 and 2 last season were blockers only.

I think it is unlikely that you get Harris. I'm not sure on Worton...he could go either way.
I'm not sure we get Jackson either at this point. Some of it depends on what other recruits do. If Marlon Humphrey wants in at FSU, I don't think we could take Jackson. If Malachi Dupree wanted to be in, I don't think we'd hold on to Worton.
Granted, I think both Humphrey and Dupree are long shots at this point, even though I think we have a decent shot at Hump.

I honestly don't think Treon Harris flips, but if he did I'd bet it would be Miami over UF.

On Adoree' Jackson, he'll be a Gator if UF gets his visit on 1/31. He also participates in track, long jump, and UF is by far the best from his finalists.

The word on our end of things is Adoree' Jackson wants UF and his parents want him closer to home at Tennessee. He's in California now, but he's from Illinois. UF's lead recruiter for him is meeting with him tonight to try to secure his final visit. If he comes to UF this weekend, he'll likely be a Gator. His parents will just have to come Gainesville to watch him play. Coach Holloway of UF's current 2nd ranked indoor track team and defending outdoor track national champion has a spot for Adoree' on the track team as well.

Florida’s recruitment of C.J. Worton took a positive turn for the Gators Tuesday.
The Homestead South Dade receiver decommitted from Florida State, announcing his decision via Twitter.
Worton received offered on Jan. 9 from UF, where his older brother, Cody, was a walk-on safety for three years (2006-2008).
Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and receivers coach Joker Phillips met with him Thursday before he officially visited Florida this past weekend.
Head coach Will Muschamp conducted an in-home visit Monday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder has twice postponed an interview with The Sun this week, but described his trip to UF as “awesome” when he spoke with the Orlando Sentinel.
It is unclear if Worton will take any of his remaining official visits, but he is now expected to sign with Gators.
