?? a play action pass on 4th and 1 by the 3rd string qb to a 4th string receiver = trick play? it was that kid’s (julian sayin) 1st series in his young career. it wasn’t a bomb or even a long pass in the air.

I don't know where they were on the field, but going for it on 4th and 1 when you are leading Creampuff #2 by 49 points is bush league.

lol. take a knee? w/5:00 left in the game? let the kids play. do you tell the back ups in hoops to stop taking shots? 2nd stringers during a blow out baseball game to not swing at pitches? you never know when the guys on the bench may need to be in a game when it counts. nothing replaces game experiences. it was a 4th down play designed to pick up a first down that ended up going 60 yds or so.

So with 5:00 left in the game, WMU was going to score 56 or more points to come back and win..  Wow!  Talk about NO CONFIDENCE in your own team.
Like I said, going for it on 4th down against a creampuff that has no chance to win is bush league.   Going 60 yards or so only shows how really BAD the other team was.
Playing a high school team is hardly a "real game experience" for the alleged #2 team in the country.  The backups get more experience against their own players in practice.  Or they should.

Next up: Creampuff #3.

I do get your point, though.
The backups probably won't play much when OSU starts playing REAL teams.

The problem for me with the play is the strategy. At that point in the game, why are you throwing the ball? Play action up 49-0 on 4th and 1?
Even the announcer says what everyone is thinking, "Everyone is expecting that run". Why? Because it is 49-0 late in the 4th. In that situation, you run the damn ball, or you punt and give your 3rd string DLine some reps.
Everyone is expecting it because that is what you should be doing in that circumstance.
