lol. take a knee? w/5:00 left in the game? let the kids play. do you tell the back ups in hoops to stop taking shots? 2nd stringers during a blow out baseball game to not swing at pitches? you never know when the guys on the bench may need to be in a game when it counts. nothing replaces game experiences. it was a 4th down play designed to pick up a first down that ended up going 60 yds or so. So with 5:00 left in the game, WMU was going to score 56 or more points to come back and win.. Wow! Talk about NO CONFIDENCE in your own team. Like I said, going for it on 4th down against a creampuff that has no chance to win is bush league. Going 60 yards or so only shows how really BAD the other team was. Playing a high school team is hardly a "real game experience" for the alleged #2 team in the country. The backups get more experience against their own players in practice. Or they should.
Next up: Creampuff #3.
I do get your point, though. The backups probably won't play much when OSU starts playing REAL teams.playing in front of 100k+ (although by that point in the game it was likely around half that) is an experience that can't be duplicated in practice. and if any of tosu's starters go down-you know, that happens sometimes in football-having that live game experience doing something more than just taking a knee or running off tackle will matter. if it had been the last minute or two of the game? I'd be on your side, regardless of whether you're being serious or not. but w/more than 5:00 left? had absolutely no issues w/it.

Run the ball, get the 1st D, and then if you want to run your play-action stuff, go for it. I get that. But my first gut reaction to that play was of 'disrespect' of the opponent, and not just to the players, but the opposing coaches as well.

Give your backups playing time when the game matters. That is REAL pressure. Rotating players in and out keeps them fresher, longer. Give your punter real game practice at kicking the ball out of bounds inside the opponent's 2 yard line. Give your FG kicker real game practice at kicking a long FG that might actually win a game one day.
I'll leave you with this: If LSU had pulled such a classless stunt, I would be VERY unhappy with Brian Kelly.

In today's game of NIL & transfer portal at will, I would prioritize our 4th string QB, a former five-star recruit who began his career as an early enrollee playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide before transferring to Ohio State, a little bit higher in the bids for playing time...besides, the 3rd string D probably gets more 'experience' in practice than they would have going into that particular game,

Had it been Ryan Day calling the plays, it would've been running plays off tackle__but Chip Kelly is doing the play calling, and he likes to score

He got Oregon 3 years of probation and reduction of scholarships. He was a loser at UCLA. How many National Championships has he won?
Just to be clear though, I have nothing against the Ohio State football program as a whole, or their record of success.

I can promise you this... there is no cfb coach worth his salt in the country who would see a 4th and 1 play-action pass that went 15 yards in the air w/5:00 left in a blow out thrown by a 3rd string qb to the #10 receiver on the team as classless. especially in a game like this where both sides (niu-nd not withstanding) already know coming in the expected outcome. w michigan had their backups in as well, btw. playing backups in games already decided are the safest way a coach has to determine whether they're worth putting them in when the outcome is up in the air. that's true regardless of the end of the scoreboard you are on. movie' on.

I guess you can look at it that way when Creampuff U knows they are being paid to get slaughtered in what is basically a glorified scrimmage game."OK men. You KNOW you are going to get your asses kicked. Just try not to get hurt. We don't get NIL bucks like they do" Movin' on to Creampuff #3. How much are THEY being paid to be a sacrificial lamb?
