I'm glad I don't go there any more. Once inside, it's awesome, but getting there and leaving are a major PITA. I can't walk 4 miles to the stadium any more. I don't want to sit 2 hours in traffic any more, either.
Thank God most of the game are televised. But if you have NEVER been there, one visit when a major team is in town is something you must experience.
Alabama and Ole Miss are two really big games, and don't forget the earthquake game against Auburn.
By the same token, I'd love to experience the Shoe, the Coliseum, the Swamp, and many others as well. Seeing them on TV just ain't the same.
I guess I could google it but I'll ask. Why does LSU number their field every five yards? Good question. Maybe one year they had extra number paint left over, or they just want to be different. I never really thought about it. To me, that's just LSU. They used to alternate between dark and light green every 5 yards, too.

Then SID Jim Corbett decided to have numerals painted on the field in Tiger Stadium every 5 yards at the request of radio play-by-play announcer John Ferguson in 1946. As most LSU Football home games were played at night, this made it easier to spot the advancement of runs (“he’s at the 35, 30, 25, 20…”) and call the action.

Might be the same reason they alternated green colors every 5 yards. B.R TV personality John Ferguson was THE Voice of the Tigers for many years, and when he retired, his replacement sucked in comparison. His replacement would say shit like "it's 1st and 10 at the XYU 40. Jones runs for 9 up the middle! Tigers are now facing 2nd and 4."
WTF??
Another B.R. TV personality from a competing station, Sid Crocker, was the Tiger Stadium announcer for years. Both men had distinctive voices.

I remember a college game on TV back in the '70s. The home team RB broke a run and announcer called out, "He's at the 35, the 40, the 45, the 50, the 55, the 60,..."
