USC has worked with lawyers for Reggie Bush for years to help him get his Heisman trophy back. This finally happened. USC and Bush attorneys have petitioned the NCAA to have the Bush decision reconsidered. The original ruling required USC disassociate themselves from Bush. Now they have been able to welcome Bush back to the USC fold and had planned on Bush leading the team onto the field in their opening home game. Bush's lawyers put that on hold shortly before that game. Now, Bush has filed suit against the NCAA and USC for NIL money from 20 years ago, well before NIL was even an idea for college athletes. Bush and attorneys also want USC to pay his legal bills. How much Bush is asking for in restitution from USC and the other two defendants is unclear. McCathern said that experts told him USC made “hundreds of millions” off of his client’s name, image and likeness through various revenue streams
