penn state vs the bucknuts! two top five teams.
some quick thoughts on the game:
1. osu is a 3.5 point favorite, which seems right to me.
2. james franklin is 1-9 vs. ohio state so this is a big game for his legacy.
3. ryan day is 2-6 vs top 5 teams so if ohio state loses, his inability to win against great teams might become a more established narrative that dogs him. would hate to see ryan day take his frustrations out on lou holtz again if people start to question his ability to defeat top teams. that was elder abuse last time.
4. penn state star QB drew allar was hurt against wisconsin. i have no sources and i do not have a medical degree but all indications is that he will play. he's been seen moving around very well in practice but they will make the final decision at the last moment.
5. this might be the first game in a long time that penn state has the upper hand at the line of scrimmage as ohio state is a bit banged up. ohio state's struggles to run last week against nebraska is well known.
6. ohio state will have an advantage with their skill players as they always do. i feel like every NFL team has an OSU WR at the top of their depth chart.
7. psu's offense is not bad though. drew allar looks like he's going to be a solid NFL prosect. tyler warren is going to win the mackey award. i even think a legit argument can be made for tyler warren to be a heisman finalist if he has a big game. psu has a strong running game with two very good RB's. although it would be nice if we have our starting left tackle anthony donkah, who left last weeks game with an injury. and psu's new offensive coordinator, andy kotelnicki has been successful at keeping defense's guessing.
8. jason kelce will be at the game and will be on college gameday.
9. after initially committing, trump will not be at the game.
10. 12pm kickoffs for these big games stink. should be a 3:30pm kickoff. i hate Fox. psu students and fans have organized a boycott of the fox CFB show who will be live at the game. wonder if that will be noticeable.
my prediction - in previous seasons, there was always a sense of dread when psu was playing ohio state or michigan. but this year, the vibes around PSU are pretty strong. even though USC doesn't have a great record, the psu comeback win i think may have given the team a big confidence boost heading into this stretch of the season. the defense has gotten better every game. obviously ohio state is extremely dangerous, will howard is playing with a chip on their shoulder and they have elite WR's who can make a big play anytime. i just feel like this is a psu win. i'll go psu 27 osu 23. just feel like psu is due to get some bounces. we'll see.

Fox was saving the 8pm time slot for Game 7 of the World Series, not happening now....Agreed on the 3:30pm time slot

You sound pretty confident...how many of JoePa's nephews are on this year's officiating team?

understandable analysis. . the 12 noon start still had a fantastic atmosphere/environment, along w/much fewer too inebriated fans. ha. it also allowed me to make it back home to central ohio before midnight, which I liked, but I've been to state college for a bunch of night games ('05, '07, a twilight start in '09, '14 and '16) and obviously those have been electric for the kids. both teams blew scoring opportunities in the red zone, and if you add in howard's 1st pass that went the other way for 6, that adds up to 2 td's for each team that coulda/shoulda/didn't. the game ended up playing out pretty close to the talent levels of each team imho. a tense engaging entertaining cfb matchup, that I will miss when it goes away after next season for a while.

The 1st weekend of November my family has a tradition to head to Hermitage, PA to start the Christmas season
We 1st go to a store called Kraynaks which is a seasonal store that has a very large Christmas display you can walk through. We do that and do some shopping there
We then head to Daffins chocolate store. Some of the best chocolate you'll ever taste. So we get some goodies there
We always end with a trip to Golden Corral for their lunch buffet
And since it was Ohio St/Penn St gameday everyone was decked out in their teams gear.
Saw pretty much equally those in Ohio St gear and Penn St gear out and about. Of course my son, wife, and I were in our Buckeyes gear
While at Golden Corral an older gentleman, with a Penn St sweater on, came up to me and politely let me know Penn St was up 10-0 with a smile on his face.
I would've loved to meet him again a few hours later
