The article doesn’t say what actually happened with Gaetz at all, other than suggesting obliquely, that it was some sort of extortion scam. But the article ends without any further information as to the truthfulness of any of it. Additionally, it totally ignores the investigation which disclosed payment from Gaetz to these women. I suppose the excuse will be linked to the extortion scam, but that scam claimed 25 million bucks from Gaetz’s dad. I find it tough to believe an extortioner is trying to get 25m from tiny payments in a Venmo account. It certainly implicates Greenberg as a scumbag, which he was. |

Any number of factors could make securing a conviction very difficult to the point where a prosecutor may not want to bring charges, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a ton of evidence that points to him. For instance, a Venmo payment from Gaetz to an escort service that employed a 17 year old isn’t proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Gaetz had sex with a minor. But it is certainly circumstantial where his confirmation as AG would be entirely in jeopardy. |

As our supposed Florida law expert, was Gaetz ever arrested, charged and prosecuted in Florida? If not, why not? Because the lack of a criminal charge doesn’t mean the underlying actions and behaviors didn’t occur. Any number of factors could make securing a conviction very difficult to the point where a prosecutor may not want to bring charges, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a ton of evidence that points to him.
