so joe paterno, that coach who went 61 years without an ethical blemish in the shark infested waters of college football...was praised today by the state's star witness against spanier, schultz, curly... like i said a billion times before...this was negligence, not a cover up. pennstate.scout.com/2/1311132.html |

I don't think it does. at all. mark scott tosu 81 i didn't say it cleared the coach. i think one of the big issues in having this conversation with people is that people assume i'm trying to portray paterno as a victim who is innocent of all wrongdoing. all i'm trying to show is that paterno did not cover up for Sandusky's crimes. paterno's decision making was not based on a fear of negative publicity. i'm just trying to show that while paterno screwed up, his motives were not sinister like freeh concluded, which was the basis for penalties against penn state. mcqueary's testimony verifies that paterno never told mcqueary to keep quiet. paterno never mcqueary not to speak to anyone else about what he saw. that's the big take away. |
