Due to popular demand, here we go with our 2013-2014 Bowl Pick'em Douche Contest.
We got 35 bowl games, so I'm going to divide them up into 3 rounds. They don't break down evenly, but there's a break on Sunday, the 29th (for NFL games, I'll assume), so that's going to be a break.
Picking against the spread, same format as the regular season. Someone else needs to step up their game, or I'm going to run out of space on my signature line for all of my accolades.

uh, no clue on the movie. ROUND 1 (December 21 - December 28) NEW MEXICO BOWL Washington State -4 v. Colorado State. csu's first winning season/bowl since '08, for wsu the first since '03. so both should be excited to play in this one, but the cougs have played the much tougher schedule, and beat usc, beat ariz (both on the road) and nearly knocked off auburn in the opener. csu did not beat a winning team this year. washington st. FAMOUS IDAHO POTATO BOWL Buffalo +1 v. San Diego State. hey... 2 bowl teams that osu played this year. who says the bucks didn't play a top notch schedule? lol. both had shots at division titles til the final week of the regular season. ub's lb mack will be the best player on the field, but sd st has played and won in boise on the blue turf before, and this is their 4th straight bowl game. aztecs. LAS VEGAS BOWL Southern California -6 1/2 v. Fresno State. talent edge to sc, but emotional edge to fsu, who will be geeked to get a shot at an in-state giant. i'll take the points. fresno st. NEW ORLEANS BOWL Tulane -2 1/2 v. Louisiana-Lafayette. another in-state matchup. last year la-laf crushed the green wave 41-13. this year they play in the superdome, tulane's home stadium. first winning season in over a decade for tu. 3rd straight new orleans bowl for the cajuns. tulane. BEEF O'BRADY'S BOWL East Carolina -13 v. Ohio. was a little surprised the bobcats got a bowl invite this year. their d is woeful. way too many weapons for the pirates. east carolina. HAWAII BOWL Oregon State -3 v. Boise State. 1st 4 loss season since '05 for boise. they've beaten the beavers a few times recently, but their d was really below their standards this year, plus they just lost their head coach. oregon state. LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA BOWL Bowling Green -5 v. Pittsburgh. would love to see bg pull this off, but they just lost their coaching staff too. pittsburgh. POINSETTIA BOWL Northern Illinois -1 v. Utah State. tough emotional spot for niu, who went from bcs bowl to poinsettia bowl. lynch is a real talent, but usu has a good d and the emotional edge. utah st. MILITARY BOWL Marshall -3 v. Maryland. great year for the herd, especially their offense. but playing in annapolis is a big plus for the terps, and they can leverage this as a launching pad to head to the big 10. maryland. TEXAS BOWL Minnesota -4 v. Syracuse. gophers had a surprising year... good running game and a surprisingly decent d. orange has the same method, but not as good. minnesota. FIGHT HUNGER BOWL Washington -3 1/2 v. BYU. i think this is one of the more attractive matchups. byu played a nice schedule this year, uw was in the tougher league but is losing their coach to sc. byu. PINSTRIPE BOWL Notre Dame -14 1/2 v. Rutgers. one program the big 10 invited who turned it down vs a program who accepted. hate giving 2 td's, but i will. notre dame. BELK BOWL North Carolina -3 v. Cincinnati. basically a home game for the heels, who ended the season strong. north carolina. RUSSELL ATHLETIC BOWL Louisville -3 1/2 v. Miami. l'ville may have been the most overrated team in the country this year, and they're still favored, in fl, over a canes team who i think is just as, if not more, talented. miami. BUFFALO WILD WINGS BOWL Kansas State -3 1/2 v. Hmmm, must be from Italy!" oh my god. now i got it. my mom actually gave me a one-legged lady lamp ornament this year at t'giving (gave all the kids something from the museum she visited earlier this year in cleveland).. and it was one of the ornaments that got destroyed when our tree fell over this week. i miss that ornament. mark scott tosu 81 |
