BAMA's 2017 class gets a boost from the #2 dual threat qb from Hawaii
Tua Tagovailoa, a four-star quarterback from Honolulu, Hawaii, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide after 11 p.m. central on news station KHON2.
Tagovailoa becomes Alabama's ninth commitment for the class of 2017.
"I feel like I'm home over there," Tagovailoa told KHON2. "Everybody on Sunday goes to church and that's something big in my life as far as spirituality. I couldn't ask for anything better."
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Tagovailoa is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country and the No. 61 overall recruit. He recently visited Tuscaloosa on an SEC stop that also included Auburn and Ole Miss. Other finalists included USC, UCLA, Texas A&M and Hawaii.
"Coach Nick Saban is a really good guy and a really humble man," Tagovailoa told KHON2. "Soft-spoken, but the words hit."
Tagovailoa's commitment comes nearly two months after Warner Robins, Ga., four-star quarterback Jake Fromm flipped his commitment from Alabama to Georgia.
Tagovailoa's coach, Cal Lee, noted the hospitality at Alabama in an interview with AL.com last week.
Tagovailoa threw for 2,583 yards and 33 touchdowns to just three interceptions and rushed for 576 yards as a junior for the Crusaders last season. He beat out a returning senior starter for the starting quarterback spot as a sophomore.
Tagovailoa's commitment continues in the mold of dual-threat quarterbacks committing to Nick Saban since Lane Kiffin has been the school's offensive coordinator. Alabama signed Jalen Hurts from Texas in the last class and Blake Barnett from California in 2015

Don't you think Saban could have changed some in the past decade? People mellow as they get older, I know I have

Don't you think Saban could have changed some in the past decade? People mellow as they get older, I know I have I know I have as well. I used to throw things and yell a lot during games. A big loss would bother me for days. Kids tend to have that affect on you, I guess. Different priorities and all.

Don't you think Saban could have changed some in the past decade? People mellow as they get older, I know I have Nick? Nick Saban??? "A really good guy and a really humble man." That's not change, that's a complete overhaul. This is the guy who had people fired in Davie (Dolphins HQ) who spoke to him without his speaking first.

If anyone sees Walt around the boards, ask him to pin this 2017 recruiting thread and unpin the 2016 recruiting thread. I sent him a message, but he hasn't responded yet.

You think Redskins fans get as angry at Spurrier as Dolphins fans do about Saban?

A lot of mad folks in Alabama after that. He didn't even say goodbye to the players.

"It feels lovely to be committed to Georgia," Carter said. "I cannot really explain the feeling. My family actually likes it more than I do, if that is even possible."Carter's family is looking into moving to Georgia in January. The spring visit to Georgia played a big role in the 5-foot-11, 196-pound tailback picking the Bulldogs. Carter's family is also looking into moving to Georgia in January. The spring visit to Georgia played a big role in the 5-foot-11, 196-pound tailback picking the Bulldogs over Texas A&M and LSU. "Because of Coach Dell McGee," Carter said. "When I went on my visit, I just loved the atmosphere. It just felt wonderful. It was great to be around those coaches and players." The addition of Carter gives the Bulldogs 14 commitments to date and puts them within striking distance of passing Alabama for the No. 2 class in the country per the 247Sports Team Rankings
