All this again calls into question...what do we want to call champion? Do we want a season champion? Do we want a tournament champion like a March Madness kind of thing? Would we be satisfied with the scenario that been painted here before, similar to the 2011 thing? (Florida & Alabama are LOADED, open the season #1 & #2. Week 5 has a show down, in Florida, and Florida beats Bama by 7. The next week, both teams go back to methodically kicking butt....MOV by no less than 30 points, and Bama starts the slow rise back up the charts, and by week 8, is back to #2. The regular season ends, the Gators at #1, the Tide at #2, and in the SEC championship game, Florida wins late in the 4th quarter by a FG. Bama drops a bit, but we're in phase 2 of the CFP...and with 8 teams in the tournament, Alabama is in at #7. In the end, there is Florida Vs Bama, for all the marbles. Bama wins, 14-13. Winning one out of three, and we're gonna call them champions...I don't see any argument there, do you? I want a national champion determined by a tournament. I want the P5 champions to have an automatic invitation along with the 3 best remaining at-large teams. Yes, that's an 8 team playoff. We can't get there soon enough for me. |

Let me first apologize for calling you a dick. That was uncalled for so my bad on that. As for arguing and debating, true enough but Mark's stance on this particular issue hasn't change in almost a decade. Every time the topic of the Bama/LSU rematch is brought up, the '06 OSU/Michigan game is referenced and he provides the same stance... every time. We all do so I don't understand why folks continue to doubt that stance. |
