It's more than that. I found an explanation once somewhere. Need to dig it up. Core subjects above NCAA mins. Difference isn't great but enough in this case. The fact is not all athletes who meet NCAA mins get into Wisky. It is what it is. I understand that part......and that is a good thing to me. Not off topic..when working my way through college I was working at a service station. The station owner was a good friend of Hop Cassidy, and he would come in once a week or so. One day Woody came in for gas, and I asked if he was going to offer the kid playing QB, DE at my former high school. This is before the NCAA really started looking at GPA. Woody told me he couldn't make it at OSU ......he went on to play at a JC in Kansas.....became all pro TE with the Bengals....and his son was the QB for Bowling Green when Urban started making a legend of himself.

It'll be easier for him to get into UT or bama if he wants to come to the SEC.

Ah Husker High. Good for him. From what I heard a fine young man. Great historical program. Certainly Wisky's loss. He would have been an asset to W and will be to Nebackdoor.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Barry Alvarez wants UW to return to former appeals process for recruits By Jeff Potrykus of the Journal Sentinel Updated: 2:11 p.m. Chicago – Although Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez insists a change five years ago in the appeals process for prospective UW athletes has not hurt the Badgers’ ability to compete in the athletic arena, school officials are working to return to the old process. According to Alvarez, who spoke to reporters Thursday at the Big Ten preseason football meetings: Under the previous system, if recruits were denied admission to UW coaches could appeal to the individual college at UW. “You had coaches who knew student-athletes and recruited them and had been through the screening process,” Alvarez said. “They’ve done the screening. That is what we try to emphasize. “Our coaches understand the profile of our incoming student-athletes…And they feel that certain people will have success or have a chance for success. “And they can present that case because they know they have researched these individuals.” The change, which coincides with the hiring in May 2010 of Adele Brumfield as UW’s director of undergraduate admissions and recruitment, meant that all appeals were handled first by UW’s Admissions Department. “Now, when it goes to Admissions,” Alvarez said, “they don’t talk to the coaches. They look at scores. They look at numbers. They look at whatever they see… “We’re discussing with our administration going back to the way we did it, where we take our appeals to the individual colleges rather than through Admissions first. “Hopefully we can have this in place by next year.” Several high-profile football recruits in the 2014 and ’15 cycles were not admitted to UW. The latest, Dallas tailback Jordan Stevenson, announced via Twitter on Thursday he has been admitted to Nebraska and will play this season. UW, coincidentally, plays at Nebraska on Oct. 10. “I feel bad,” head coach Paul Chryst said. “The kid did everything we asked him to do. I feel for him and the time of the announcement. “But I also think it gives us the opportunity to visit to make sure we’re doing the right thing for the university and the program.” Asked if the change in the appeals process had hurt UW’s ability to compete in the Big Ten and nationally, Alvarez smiled. He then noted UW made it to the Final Four in each of the last two seasons under Bo Ryan and that UW has competed in three of the first four Big Ten football title games. The Badgers are picked to win the Big Ten West Division again this season. So why change back to the old process? “I think it is only fair to our coaches and some student-athletes and our coaches that their stories should be heard,” he said. Chryst insisted UW can get enough quality athletes to remain competitive. “All recruiting is is about finding the fit,” he said. “And there’s enough players that Wisconsin is a great fit for. “That is our job to go recruit them and get them to campus and once they get to campus make them the best players they can be.” Find this article at: www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/320154291.html

College Game Day will open the season in Fort Worth, Texas, as the University of Wisconsin opens the season against Alabama.
It's the first regular-season Badgers game to be featured by ESPN's pre-game show since Oct. 22, 2011, when fourth-ranked UW played at No. 15 Michigan State. It will be the ninth time a UW game has been featured on the traveling studio show and the first time for a Badgers season opener.

Earlier this summer, various media reports suggested Wisconsin and Syracuse were discussing a football series at some point down the road. On Thursday, the Badgers confirmed the scheduling: Wisconsin will host Syracuse at Camp Randall Stadium on Sept. 12, 2020. Syracuse will host Wisconsin the following year at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 11, 2021.
Wisconsin and Syracuse have met five times, most recently in the 1997 Kickoff Classic in East Rutherford, N.J. The Orange won that game 34-0. In fact, Wisconsin's only win in the series came in 1972, when the Badgers won 31-8 in Madison. In total, the series stands 3-1-1 in favor of Syracuse.
Additionally, Wisconsin has rescheduled previously scheduled games with BYU and South Florida. The Badgers were originally slated to travel to USF in 2017; instead, that game has been moved to Aug. 31, 2019, to open that season. As for the BYU game, Wisconsin will now travel to Provo, Utah, to face the Cougars on Sept. 16, 2017. BYU will return to Madison the following season. The trip to Provo was previously slated for 2019.
Finally, Wisconsin finalized a few more future non-conference home games: New Mexico (Sept. 8, 2018), Central Michigan (Sept. 7, 2019) and North Texas (Oct. 5, 2019).
Other future home-and-homes Wisconsin has on tap include Washington State (2022 and 2023), Virignia Tech (2024 and 2025) and Hawaii (2022 and 2024).

10, Will beating Maryland make up for losing Diamond Stone's commitment?
A. Yes. B. If the Badgers lose, it means Rosin's going to ban people because Maryland fans tend to get banned and we love Rosin! Thanks for coming back! We missed you!
11. Will Northwestern be the game where the Badgers shoot themselves in the foot and costs themselves a win?
A. No, it's in Camp Randall and the Badgers handle their business at home. B. No, because it's already happened. C. Why don't you trust the Badgers will win all the games they're supposed to?
12. What will Minnesota's highlight be for 2015?
A. The Badgers losing the national championship in Basketball B. Bo Ryan announcing his retirement. C. The Badgers losing to Alabama. D. Doesn't matter -- Wisconsin keeps the Axe anyway.
