The CFP may name the teams, but the NCAA controls all of college football in the bowl season. No team can play in a bowl game that is not sanctioned by the NCAA. If you think the NCAA has no influence over the Playoff Committee, you're mistaken.

you mean other than what college can, cannot play college football? and what constitutes a D1A, D1AA, Dll, Dlll school? Please list the criteria the NCAA uses to choose bowl teams for the CFP.

you mean other than what college can, cannot play college football? and what constitutes a D1A, D1AA, Dll, Dlll school? Please list the criteria the NCAA uses to choose bowl teams for the CFP.

You claim the CFP Committee assign teams to bowls. Why don't YOU post here what gives them the authority to do that? The Sugar Bowl had an agreement with the SEC that they could invite the SEC champion. The BCS changed that ONLY IF the SEC champion was invited to the BCS championship. That is the same for the CFP. In 2012, the Sugar Bowl and the B12 agreed that their champion (or runnerup if their champion was in the BCS NC game) would be invited to the game.
So just how did all that cede control to the CFP Committee? Does the CFP Committee assign teams to the Rose Bowl?

Plenty of time to crow later. We haven't even had the early signing period yet - 12/19-12/21 with the most action on 12/19.

UF is at #20 in the 247 Sports Composite, but will probably be 8-10 come national signing day in February. There have been lots of national championships won with such classes. UF has 18 commitments, but will likely sign at least 25. If history holds, UF will have a couple to leave the class and UF will end up poaching a few from others. It's always a fluid situation until the players sign and fax in their LOIs.  

There is no telling who could step up to unseat both bama and UGALY. USC historically finishes fast on NSD although I don't expect that this year with a sub .500 season and a dead head coach walking. Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint.

Bama is headed in that direction depending on how many players Georgia can still sign come NSD in February. The tide is sitting on 26 while the poodles are sitting on 22.

UF is up to 15/16 in the rankings depending on who you look at. UF signed 20 on ESD, has one LB who needs scores and grades before he can sign in February, and can sign up to 5 more and a plus one if there is a star who wants to come. I thought UF was going to move up to 8-10 come February, but it looks more like 10-12. I don't see a plus 1 available that would move UF into the top 10. UF needs to fill in the next 6 weeks: 

2 CBs - Has high % chance with 2 excellent 4 star CBs of which 1 is rumored to have signed papers, but wants to announce on 1/5 at an all-star game.
1 DT - No clue at this time
1 SDE - No clue at this time
1 S - No clue at this time

Presuming the committed LB gets his qualifying act together, that's 26 recruits for the final 19 class with a plus 1 available. The needs are on the defensive side of the ball so this is no time to falter in filling needs. Effectively, Mullen is looking hard for a DT, a SDE, and a safety.

Florida's haul on 2021 NSD = 0. I've never seen this happen before, but there is a first time for everything.

What Florida had done in 2021 recruiting:

12 - Early Enrollees
10 - Signees in the ESP in December
5 - Scholarship Transfers
27 - Total

If transfer portal recruiting were added to the recruiting rankings which it needs to be for an accurate reflection of 2021 recruiting, Florida would be a solid mid top 10 class.

In addition to the above, Florida picked up a preferred walk on transfer LB from Akron, hometown Orlando, and may pick up a preferred walk on true freshman DT/NG out of Miami later today, a 4 star player who hasn't been shown any love by top P5 programs after he decommitted from Miami. He has been begging for a ship at Florida, but he isn't a priority at this time. He'll have to prove himself at Florida first as a walk on. Florida is holding out for a transfer OL. Depending on what happens with after spring attrition, Florida may add between 1-3 more transfers.

BAMA also has had most of its commits signed and enrolled in school only waiting to see what two or three more guys will do.

On a sidenote this recruiting class could be the greatest of all time.

I don't want to get into the best of all time thing since you never know for sure who worked out and who didn't until until 2nd or 3rd year, but Alabama has the head and shoulders best class in the nation in 2021. Congrats, another masterful job by Nick Saban who gets more out of more, unlike Kirby Smart who gets less out of more.

Looks like 5 star S Terrion Arnold out of Tallahassee will sign with Alabama this afternoon. This must have been well known for a time now as Arnold was upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars recently on 247 Sports. 

Dan Mullen tried his best to get Arnold to sign with Florida in December. When that didn't happen, Mullen gave his ship to a transfer portal player at a position of need for 2021, one of the graduate transfer DTs coming in to shore up the DL in 2021.

One message sent loud and clear to rising high school seniors who are interested in Florida is that you had best take your seat on Florida Jet Airlines in December during the 3 day ESP if you want to guarantee yourself a ship at Florida. Dan Mullen is the King of the transfer portal and Florida is TPU - Transfer Portal U. Well done Dan Mullen, well done!
