Ok, I'm not a physics wiz, nor do I have an Ivy League degree that apparently makes you knowledgeable about things you are clueless about, but.... I'm guessing that 6,000 frickin rounds would not be enough energy to alter Earth's orbit. Now in Willie Wonderfuck's reality, which has a much different brand of physics, may be you got a point.

How many cubic feet of small arms, Division 1.4 explosives is that? 5.5"x7"x11" x 2 will give you cubic inches then divide by 12. I would then take away probably 25 cubic inches to allow for the leftover space inside the cans and for the cans themselves. Probably take away another 10 cubic inches for the space between the rounds. Get out your slide rule, nerd.

There is no explosive in a round unless you're referring to the primer material which is tiny. The fast burning 'gunpowder' in the case only takes up half at most of the volume of the round.

The Fire code distinguishes between the various parts, powder and primer, but since I know exactly squat about guns and bullets, I didn't know what the heck it meant in this context, practically speaking. I'd guessed the volume in that garage photo exceeded the limit, but heck...maybe not.

I'd guessed the volume in that garage photo exceeded the limit, but heck...maybe not. It's easy. The gunpowder is the gasoline, the primer is the spark plug. The primer is ignited by a physical strike, and the powder is ignited by the spark from the primer. Think of starting a fire with flint, steel, and tinder. Gunpowder itself is not an explosive. It is a fast burning solid flammable. Unless the fast burn is contained so that pressure can build up from the expanding gases, it's just a firemaker.
Primers are actually more dangerous because they are set off by a physical blow. One tiny primer detonation can severely injure a finger or hand, or put your eye out. I have deliberately (and accidentally) fired just primers before, and they are LOUD, too!
