or a trio of lunatics armed with knives, or baseball bats, or pipes, or.. you get the picture. I'm fairly quick on my feet but against three grown men armed with knives or ball bats that have bad intentions, could I protect my wife and myself from great bodily harm WITHOUT being armed with my handgun..?.. Glad I don't reside in London so I won't maybe have to find out.
The important point is to do something ............ don't stand there and do nothing. A chair, a broom, your wife's purse --- anything is better than nothing.Thanks, but I think I'll pass on the 'broom and purse' idea. . if those are all I have at my disposal, I'll just start throwing punches. LOL |

You couldn't do it if you were the greatest martial artist in the world. Unlike the movies, the thugs don't wait one at a time to attack. You probably wouldn't be able to beat 3 men with knives even if you DO have a gun, if they are determined to get you. At least your odds are much better, and your family at least could probably get away.

A broom and a swung purse can create critical distance that keeps you out of the radius of a swinging knife.
Take some martial arts training. You'll find out fast that ANYTHING is better then bare hands.

I have one punch knockout power so I would most likely be better off using footwork and slinging punches at the idiots rather than looking for a broom or purse.. I love to throw combinations but I do still possess some knockout ( or at least stopping ) power from either the left or the right. How about this, if ever attacked by three muslims with knives or what have you, I just pull my g19 and put three quick ones in each of their upper torsos. Would that be ok by you..?..

However, as I already stated, if they are charging you at once from 3 different directions, you ARE going to get stabbed, unless you are very lucky. I personally would shoot one, then run directly AT him to increase the distance from the other 2, which hopefully would give me time to turn on them.
With 3 determined knife attackers against only me, I realistically do NOT see a chance of getting out unscathed. The most important thing is to make sure you are right with God at all times. Your life is finite, no matter what, and your time WILL come. |

No sense in using anything else. |

9MM = .355"
10MM/.40 cal = .400/.401"
.45 ACP/.45 Colt = .451/.452"
The difference isn't great, but I'll take any edge I can get. Expanded sizes can favor the .45 even more. |

Since most of the black belts I know ----- one of whom is about 6'4", well in excess of 200 lbs. (NO fat), played minor league baseball and is very good friends with Will Clark (just thought I'd throw that in there ) ----- are also concealed carriers, I think that would be a much more sensible move. That guy is also quite wealthy --- owns 3 or 4 GM dealerships. loves guns (he even can afford to shoot his .50 cal Barrett) and is as friendly and nice as anyone I know. Just don't f-word with him. LOL

I only use Gold Dot 124gr +P or Gold Dot 147gr as my 9mm defensive round. No sense in using anything else. DRT also makes some fairly good ammo. but like you said, can't go wrong with gold dot. |
