Cool. I've always held your gun knowledge/experience in high esteem. If you have a problem child .22, use mini-mags. Never use the Mexican crap. 90% of my .22 is maxi and mini mags - close to 10k on hand at the bottom of two different lakes. Bought a boatload of minmags at 6c/rnd not long ago but it fell off the boat mid-lake. That British crap bam uses costs more than diamonds.

I never really thought that much about it after that until later on, when I saw the amazing prices that Colt Pythons were demanding on the market. I could have sold the Python and bought THREE Model 19's.
KICK ME.
FTR, I think a 4 or 6" Colt Python is the prettiest DA revolver ever made. As an aside, the next $ growth Colt is the SSA, Gen II & III. The made a ton of them but new in box examples have started to rise in price, along w high Q, those lightly used pieces. Colt specialty shop is closed and they made em. Everyone knows the Comp has been in distress for a bit. Has anyone ever seen the Colt Boa? Special production of around 700 for one distributor. I think they are up to $10K. Collectors have been snapping up snake guns of high Q or a few years now. Gen II & III SSAs will be next.

Collectors have been snapping up snake guns of high Q or a few years now. Gen II & III SSAs will be next. Have to admit I've never even heard of the Boa. I'm not a modern Colt fan.www.gunbroker.com/item/654650053www.gunbroker.com/item/656302007Might be bad photography, but the finish on the 2nd one doesn't look all that great.Kris Ford of Ford's Firearms (his outfit after Red Jacket Firearms folded) is not impressed with the Boa. According to him it's a Python barrel on a Diamondback frame ---- bad idea."COLT BOA These guns are especially rare, because the ones that were sold split open or cracked. The .357 load was way to much for it's dainty frame. Basically they took a python barrel and put it on a diamondback frame. Upon release they quickly stopped production because of their weaknesses. This is The MOST Collectable Colt Revolver in my opinion. It was made by Colt as a special run, with the entire run bought by Lew Horton Distributing, a big gun distributor. Unlike many special distributor guns, the Boa is considered to be a FACTORY model. These were Colt Mark V revolvers fitted with a Python barrel and given the Royal Blue Colt finish. There were 600 each made with a 4" barrel and 600 with a 6" barrel. There was also a Boa set of one 4" and one 6" gun with consecutive serial numbers in cases supplied by Lew Horton. There were 100 of these two gun sets made. The individual gun retail price from Horton was $525. Retail on the two gun sets was $1,200. Pricing a Boa today is very difficult due to the skyrocketing prices of all Colt pistols, and especially rare guns like these. We at Ford's Firearms are lucky enough to have a CONSECUTIVE Number Set, 4" & 6" (NIB with papers) on it's way to the shop for consignment. If you are interested please let me know. Consignment prices have not been discussed yet; But I am excited to see, not one but two of, these rare machines in person. Colt made a HUGE mistake by discontinuing Model P (SAA) production. The ones being made now just don't stack up to the older generation ones, and they are way overpriced because of the name.
I personally hate gun collectors who buy them up and never shoot them. That lowers the supply on the market for the people who want to shoot them. Guns were made to be shot, not hung on a wall or put in a safe somewhere. Of course it is a free country, but I hate that! Shoot the damn gun, or let someone else who WILL shoot it have it. JMHO of course.

The P938-22 is a 1911 based pistol but not full sized.
Sig did make a 1911 .22, model 1911 - 22. If they still do or not, I don't know. But it was full size. Thanks for that info. I didn't know that. Looked 'em up on GunBroker and it's a really good buy. I don't like the grip safety, which can be easily changed, but for $300, if I didn't already have my Colt, I might buy one. Kudos to SIG.
See? I DON'T know everything!!!! www.gunbroker.com/item/656551050EDIT: Then again, no I would not buy one. It has a useless full length recoil spring guide rod and 2 extra holes in the frame on either side of the slide release hole. I have no idea what those could be for.

They are nice, average performing overpriced guns, but nothing special. I liked the idea that SIG made a full size 1911 in .22LR. After looking at them more closely, I found things I don't like about them, and I explained those things. There is no valid reason for having two extra holes in a 1911 frame, and full length recoil spring guide rod does nothing to improve accuracy or reliability. There is a reason John Browning designed his gun the way he did.
Buy all the SIGs you want. I hope you buy 3 or 4 of them this month. One can never have too many guns. You don't have to worry about me buying one out from under you. They're all yours. ANY decent handgun has better combat accuracy than a human shooter can use, and most of them are boringly reliable with good ammunition.

For some reason, the .38 Super has gotten my attention lately. It's not a very good idea actually, since the round is not real common, and I have enough calibers to reload for already.
And I have to admit, I don't NEED any more guns. I have guns now that I hardly ever shoot. Some have been fired in only one or two sessions by me and then put up, only to be looked at from time to time. That dges against my principles.

Don't know about today, as things have changed a lot in ol Mexico but back in the day a .38 Spr was a hot buy in Cali, Tx etc because it wasn't a M&P round, which was legal to own a .38 spr semi in Mexico. 1911s were particularly hot in that round.

Yep, that's true.
The .38 Super in the 1911 was plagued with inaccuracy issues back in the day. It had to do with headspacing due to the semi-rimmed cartridge case. That problem was fixed by redesigning the chamber to headspace on the case mouth like other semiautos. The case rim was also made smaller to eliminate feed problems from the magazine.
