Notes to contestants on UF's win and upcoming FSU game:
1. UAB was not as advertised. In a word, bad describes the Blazers. The NCAA Division 2 West Florida Argonauts would have beaten UAB yesterday.
2. UF is down to 50 ship players. I don't care who you are, you don't beat even a diminished nolie team without the athletes to do it. If the spread is less than UF +14 to +17, the oddsmakers are dumber than I think they are. The only thing that may keep it close is it is a rivalry game and both teams will be motivated to play their best.
3. UF is down to one ship QB on the roster. If Feleipe Franks gets knocked out of the game, the Gators would have to exclusively run the wildcat against a good nolie defense. Yeah, that would work just fine. (shaking head)
4. The UF OL is a mash unit. If Franks doesn't get knocked out of the game, look for the OL to give up 6 to 8 sacks. Franks will be running for his life.
5. Playing with fire and desire has been an issue with UF since the coaching change. Beating a substandard UAB team didn't fix that.
The game has all the ingredients for an FSU blowout. I know FSU has their issues, but not near to the level UF is experiencing with the 9 suspensions, 24 player injuries, and the in season coaching change. I hate it, but another FSU blowout win is the way I see it.

6-9-1. Geez, I sucked this week. Even mscott beat me... yes you should be embarrassed. WEEK 12 RESULTSFIRST, BIG SHAKEUP IN THE BOTTOM OF THE RANKINGS. #1 AND WINLESS GEORGIA SOUTHERN WAS CRUISING TO THE WORST TEAM TITLE UNTIL…THEY RAN INTO A DETERMINED SOUTH ALABAMA, WHO CAME TO STATESBORO WITH A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDERS, DETERMINED TO BLOW UP THE EAGLES’ SEASON. BY THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER, THEY HAD GS ON THE ROPES, TRAILING 0-21, AND WERE IN FIRM CONTROL BY HALFTIME, TRAILING 0-31. IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE HOPE FOR A PERFECT SEASON BY GEOR. SO. WAS ON THE ROPES. WHEN THE DUST SETTLED, GEORGIA SOUTHERN’S HOPES WERE CRUSHED, BEATING THE JAGUARS IN A MASSACRE, 52-0. GEORGIA SOUTHERN RAN FOR 356 YARDS AND PASSED FOR ANOTHER 227, AND HELD S. BAMA TO 196 TOTAL YARDS AND JUST 10 FIRST DOWNS. IT WAS THE FIRST SHUTOUT OF A SOUTH ALABAMA TEAM IN 101 YEARS. WITH THE WIN, GEORGIA SOUTHERN FALLS OUT OF #1, AND UTEP, AT TEAM THAT HAS BATTLED ALL SEASON TO OVERTAKE GEORSO, FINALLY TOOK OVER THE TOP SPOT, LOSING CONVINCINGLY TO LA. TECH. 21-42. FOR THEIR 11TH STRAIGHT LOSS. ROUNDING OUT THE TOP 10: RICE (1-10) JUMPS UP A SPOT TO #2. UNFORTUNATELY, WITH THEIR CRUSHING WIN OVER UTEP IN WEEK TWO, UTEP HAS THE TIE-BREAKER IF THE RANKINGS REMAIN AS IS. TO THEIR CREDIT, AFTER THAT WIN THEY HAVE REELED OFF 9 STRAIGHT LOSSES. SAN JOSE STATE (1-11) TAKES OVER THE #3 SPOT, LOSING CONVINCINGLY 14-41 TO COLORADO STATE. SJSt’S ONLY BLEMISH IS A WEEK TWO TRAP GAME WIN TO DOORMAT CAL POLY, SAN LUIS OBISPO. THEY BOUNCED BACK THE FOLLOWING WEEK, HOWEVER, LOSING TO TEXAS 0-56, AND HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT LOSERS EVER SINCE. GEORGIA SOUTHERN (1-9) FALLS TO THE #4 SPOT WITH THE WIN. CHARLOTTE (1-10) REMAINS #5, WITH A WORKMANLIKE 21-66 LOSS TO SOUTHERN MISS. KANSAS (1-10) JUMPS TO #6. THE JAYHAWKS, AFTER BARELY LOSING TO TEXAS LAST WEEK AND FALLING A SPOT, JUMP BACK TO #6 WITH A CLEVER REFUSAL TO SHAKE HANDS WITH OKLAHOMA’S CAPTAINS AT THE COIN TOSS, THEREBY ENSURING THAT THE SOONERS WOULD BE FOCUSED ON THEIR GAME. APPARENTLY, THERE IS NO RULE AGAINST THE TRICK, AND IT WORKED TO PERFECTION. OREGON STATE WITH JUST ONE WIN REMAINS IN THE #7 SPOT, AND WITH THE ONE WIN AGAINST FCS PORTLAND STATE, BUT A PRETTY TOUGH SOS, HAVING PLAYED USC, WASHINGTON, WASH ST. AND STANFORD, IT IS DOUBTFUL THEY CAN MOVE UP MUCH HIGHER UNLESS THERE IS A LOT OF WINNING IN THE SPOTS ABOVE THEM. BAYLOR (1-10) FALLS BACK TO THE #8 SPOT, LOSING BY ONLY 10 TO IOWA STATE. #9 ILLINOIS (2-9) MAKES ITS FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE TOP TEN, LOSING THEIR 9TH STRAIGHT AFTER STARTING THE SEASON WITH WINS OVER BALL STATE AND THE SHOCKING WIN OVER WESTERN KENTUCKY. THREE MAC TEAMS ARE TIED AT THE #10 SPOT; KENT STATE, BALL STATE AND BOWLING GREEN, ARE ALL 2-9. KENT STATE HAS THE INSIDE TRACK NEXT WEEK, AS THEY ARE THE ONLY TEAM OF THE THREE PLAYING AN OPPONENT WITH A WINNING RECORD.
