I always figured the $25 was to store info about you that they glean from the 4473... That's how we've been spied on and all of our legal firearms purchases registered with The State. (the "state" in terms of liberal communism...) Oddly, illegal firearms are seemingly of no concern... I don't know what YOUR 4473 says on it, but there's nothing on mine that I would consider harmful to me. Name, address, dob, D/L and SS numbers? Big deal. The form itself goes nowhere except the store's 4473 paperwork filing area.It says the same thing as yours since it's the exact same form. Only diff is CA collects $25 to save the info in their database. Universal CA gun registration, as it were.

Your state does all it can to violate the rights of lawabiding citizens and bends over backwards to accommodate criminal thugs and disease carriers who come here illegally to kill Americans AND mooch off of us.
My state ain't perfect, but I'll take the FREEDOMS we have here all day long.
Speaking of horrible [We did? When??] , I'm in a position that our loony libs here think would drive me crazy, my being a law abiding conservative and all. A few days ago, maybe a week, my next door neighbor got popped with 2 pounds of weed in his car. They searched his house and found 6 pounds more in his utility shed. A nice, clean cut, well mannered kid who I get along with just fine. And the house on the OTHER side of me is home to a lesbian couple, one of whom is now my granddaughter's boss!
And we all get along just fine!

Yes, it's truly astounding what we'll put up with nowadays... Both the girls are do-able, if they had their heads on straight (pardon the pun). I don't know where the young guy with the weed was doing his thing, but it wasn't at his house, cluttering up the neighborhood, so it's no big deal to me. I hope he'll clean up his act now.

I’m just glad that the part of Californication that I live in is the focal point of opposition to these unconstitutional gun grabbing laws by the urban coastal regime in control of Sacramento. We already have workarounds for most of those laws in place and can go to Oregon or Nevada to buy the ammo. Up in Jefferson territory in the far north, we don’t comply with laws like this, we search for ways to get around them legally.

A good read on the issue from my hometown newspaper. Many don’t know this part of California exists. Our city and county voted for Trump over Hillary 63% to 29% in a state that she won by 4 million votes. www.google.com/amp/s/amp.redding.com/amp/971864001

Forcing people to jump through hoops to exercise their RIGHTS is horrible.
>>>>>>>>> However, owners can modify their guns to get around the registration requirement, said Rich Howell, general manager of Olde West Gun & Loan in Redding. A semiautomatic rifle with such features as a collapsible stock, a pistol grip that extends below the trigger guard, a flash hider at the end of the barrel and a detachable magazine need to be registered in California, Howell said. But manufacturers and gun shops have developed a workaround to make AR-15-type semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines legal under California law. ““They can pass all the laws they want, and I can guarantee you we are going to find a way around them."” Remove the pistol grip, collapsible stock and flash hider and gun owners can keep the detachable magazine and no registration is needed, Howell said. <<<<<<< Just buy a Mini 14 to start with and you're OK.

Up in Jefferson territory in the far north, we don’t comply with laws like this, we search for ways to get around them legally. I've already got my workarounds on hand and have until July 1 to install them. Until then I can still drive to the club in Ukiah and not worry about being charged for assault weapon possession. After that I'll probably just separate the lowers from the uppers, remove the bolt carrier groups and store them in my safe while in CA. These laws are so convoluted that even the cops don't know what to do so the ones around here will surely err on the side of caution and press charges on actual legal AR's. Then you get to go broke trying to get your property back. The cops in Jefferson are a lot more sympathetic to the citizens/2A I'm sure but around here it's letter of the law/throw the book at you.
