In 2019 there will be just 7 Republican members of Congress who are Republicans from California, or 13% of the delegation. In the race for the open Governor's seat, the Democrat beat the Republican by 24%. Not a single statewide race was won by a Republican and some of the races didn't even HAVE a Republican. Diane Feinstein was battling another Democrat in the race for the Senate seat. The Republican came in 3rd in the primary. And here's some reasons. In the Republican effort to transfer wealth out of blue states with a tax bill specifically designed to hurt states like CA, the Republican tax cut bill raised taxes on exactly the constituents who turned on their Republican representatives in key suburban districts like Orange County. Add to it the toxic qualities of Donald Trump to those same voters and Republicans had themselves a recipe for disaster. Republican National Committeeman Shawn Steel called the California election results “a nuclear political holocaust for Republicans”. “This is the death of the Republican Party” in California, said Mike Madrid, a Republican consultant in the state. “There’s no coming back from this for at least a generation, if not more.”www.politico.com/story/2018/12/01/california-2018-gop-what-happened-1036940

How many times have you declared the death of the Republicans in the last 20 years?
Hint: You'll need more than your fingers and toes.

How many times have you declared the death of the Republicans in the last 20 years? Hint: You'll need more than your fingers and toes. Yeah, but now, apparently, it's official. It ain't me this time. It's the Republicans who declared themselves dead. As you point out, I been sayin' it for about 5 years now. The Republicans have now finally heard me. BTW, just to give you an idea of how toxic the brand is out here, a Republican who used to be Insurance Commissioner, and a good guy who I voted for, decided to come out of retirement and run again for the job, but was smart enough to file as "No party affiliation". He still lost, but his leaving the Republican party made it a lot closer, 51-49. No Republican topped 40% in a statewide race.

Rather than tooting your horn about the death of the Republican Party in CA, Walt, you should be cheering the rise of the stupidity of the voters in CA. As an example, how many bond measures (debt increases) and tax increases are voted down in CA?

As an example, how many bond measures (debt increases) and tax increases are voted down in CA? How is the concept of voting for bond measures stupid? Wouldn't it depend on what the bond is buying? For instance, was it stupid to vote in favor of the bond issue (prop 4) that funded the construction and expansion of non-profit children's hospitals in the state? Was I stupid to vote for that?

WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER THE QUESTION? I don't have any idea what the answer is. You posted it. Go find out and post it. I'm questioning the logic of the supposition that voting for a bond measure makes one "stupid", and I gave an example and asked you if you thought voting for it was stupid. So...was it?

VOTING FOR MORE DEBT VOTING FOR MORE TAXES THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIME DOES NOT EQUAL STUPID? BORN ON PLANET STUPID IMHO, staying in a shithole state like Commiefornia is stupid. Voluntarily being a slave of liberal losers is stupid. Californication is a sinking ship and should be left to disintegrate with only the mutineers left on board.
Sorry FRed, just telling it like it is.

It's hard to beat the weather and natural beauty within a four hour drive from here. Really can't beat it. For now it's getting the kid through H.S. and off to college then moving to a free state with no state tax. Seems like more and more coastal liberalism is moving to free states and flippin them up just the same as where they moved from. Butt holes.

The view of San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz was also nice, from what I understand.
Screw that! Scenery is never an acceptable tradeoff for slavery. There are plenty of good colleges in free states.

This country has had a history of two parties and occasionally a third, that at times can influence nationwide elections. Cali is currently a ying w/o a yang. That'll change, sooner rather than later. The names may change but the concept will carry on, imo.

I understand the Dems did some "ballot harvesting" that swung several election results from red to blue in California. A process that was put into place by their looney governor. God forbid, any other states follow suite.
