Oldest I saw was John Lee Hooker at a mid size low ceiling room that was secondary to the main full sized hall with balcony. Carlos Santana made a surprise appearance (to the audience at least) and I directed Carlos and his photographer buddy to the little backstage area. I was on staff and saw all kinds of great shows there for free in the 80's. Before Winterland was torn down we used to drive to the city all the time and saw all the greats. Always two headliners and one local big name band. Sometimes three headliners, but always 3 bands for $6. Chemicals were prevalent in those days... Then there's all the stadium shows I used to attend indoors and outdoors. I could write a book about it. The last show I saw was when I took my superfan daughter to her first concert ever on July 20th in Vegas. Why Don't We, the current highly popular teeny bopper boy band. They were actually pretty good if you like that sort of stuff. Daughter was over the moon! I always liked Winterland. It had a "special" vibe. We used to drive up from LA to go there. Yep. It had a very unique echo in that cavern. Frampton Comes Alive captures the sound really well, especially during the parts where he uses the talk box on Do You Feel Like We Do. I get chills every time I hear that echo. Trower Live had some songs recorded there as well as I recall (probably the same show I was at), and Hendrix, and... and... Those were the days. No barriers and the stage was only 4 feet off the floor. I've been right up against that stage numerous times. Touch your favorite rock star...

saw them early in their career. in the movie it's listed as "mid-west tour". The Agora on campus. Never had the privilege unfortunately. I was only 13 when Freddie died. They played in Cleveland last year with Adam Lambert, but as we know that's not the same. The bands I love so much are getting too old to play anymore and some dont already. thankful I got to see Def leppard and Journey last year. I saw The Rolling Stones a few years ago and they're still going strong.

When I was growing up in Birmingham, wasn't much to do besides BAMA, Auburn or Uab games. So we went to a lot of concerts. I've seen Queen, Def Leopard 4 times, Ozzy 5-6 times, Motley Crew 5-6 times, AC/DC, Van Halen 5-6 times, The Stones once at Legion Field, Blue Oyster Cult 3 times, Journey,Steppenwolf2-3 times, Rush 2-3 times, Dio 3-4 times, Judas Priest 2-3 times, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King...I could go on and on cb, have to admit I didn't have you as a def/ozzy/crew kind of guy. . but I'm impressed w/the back end of your list. the t-birds never got the kind of national run I think they deserved, but live they were dynamite. vaughn just makes me sad, not his music which absolutely rocked but how he left us way too soon. and bb king was the oldest performer I ever saw in concert. he played the newport (same place bam mentioned... it was the agora then had a name change in the late 70s). at first I wondered why he'd played a campus venue (there were some adults in the room but only about a 1/3) but once he got going his age and the crowd's age was a non-issue. and when/where in the hell did you see steppenwolf? they had broken up long before I started at tosu in '77. magic carpet ride was an 'always play' on the jukebox. and everyone should see mick once before he goes away. seen the stones 3 times and they never disappointed. to think I thought jagger was 'ancient' when I was in college and he was 'so old' at 38. lol springsteen still tops my list. have seen him the most and his shows are legendary. saw marshall tucker, and cdb when I was in school and they were real good. but the show that surprised me the most was j. geils. saw them at blossom up near cleveland and they were awesome. I never got to see any big name bands in their prime or past their prime, LOL. The last big name band I saw was Queensryche, and they were SO loud, it was painful! It was an indoor club, and Geoff Tate's voice was incredible ........ arguably the best male vocalist in rock or tied with Bruce Dickinson (who I will give the edge because he is also a rated ATP ) . Chris DeGarmo had already left the band, so the guitar playing wasn't as good as the originals, but still excellent.
The only other "names" I can remember seeing were Dr. Hook and Black Oak Arkansas. Alexandria LA was not a major stopping point for world class bands.

I have seen a lot of really, really good shows. For music I don't particularly like, Taylor Swift is incredible in concert and worth every penny it costs to see her. I knew very few songs but she was amazing, as was Panic! at the Disco when I went my daughter a couple of times. For the music I do like, Rush was the best concert I ever saw. Granted, I was pretty close to the stage but my mouth was open in awe the entire time. On the other side of the coin, I was/am a HUGE Boston fan and saw them every chance I could when they were close by. Unbelievable music but an absolutely boring show. For the musical genius Tom Scholz is, he sucks as an entertainer. LOL You wanted to see Taylor swift. Just admit it I really didn't. It was Halloween night and I knew there would be 40,000 screaming girls but I will say this... if I get the chance to go see her again, I am definitely in, kids or no kids. The production was off the charts.

I'm impressed at your musical spectrum!

Friday nights almost always had a name band playing. We used to drive down to hear the bands in summer when I could work days at my job at Kroger.

The production was off the charts. My list of concerts is a short one unfortunately Nearly all the concerts I've been to I've won the tickets via some kind of contest. Tickets these days are too rich for my blood I've seen Journey, Def leppard (they were together, same concert), Shania Twain, She was my very 1st concert at the Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus back in 1999. My girlfriend at the time was a big fan. I was a big fan of looking at Shania Twain at the time if you get what I'm saying. I've seen Trans Siberian Orchestra 5x now. And I hope to see them again this year as they're coming back to Youngstown in November. That is one hell of a show. Highly, highly recommend checking them out if you get the chance. And this year got to see the Youngstown Orchestra with a Queen cover ban play at the new Youngstown Amphitheater. I thought the show was great and fun. And that's it really.
