cb, have to admit I didn't have you as a def/ozzy/crew kind of guy. . but I'm impressed w/the back end of your list. the t-birds never got the kind of national run I think they deserved, but live they were dynamite. vaughn just makes me sad, not his music which absolutely rocked but how he left us way too soon. and bb king was the oldest performer I ever saw in concert. he played the newport (same place bam mentioned... it was the agora then had a name change in the late 70s). at first I wondered why he'd played a campus venue (there were some adults in the room but only about a 1/3) but once he got going his age and the crowd's age was a non-issue. and when/where in the hell did you see steppenwolf? they had broken up long before I started at tosu in '77. magic carpet ride was an 'always play' on the jukebox. and everyone should see mick once before he goes away. seen the stones 3 times and they never disappointed. to think I thought jagger was 'ancient' when I was in college and he was 'so old' at 38. lol springsteen still tops my list. have seen him the most and his shows are legendary. saw marshall tucker, and cdb when I was in school and they were real good. but the show that surprised me the most was j. geils. saw them at blossom up near cleveland and they were awesome. I never got to see any big name bands in their prime or past their prime, LOL. The last big name band I saw was Queensryche, and they were SO loud, it was painful! It was an indoor club, and Geoff Tate's voice was incredible ........ arguably the best male vocalist in rock or tied with Bruce Dickinson (who I will give the edge because he is also a rated ATP ) . Chris DeGarmo had already left the band, so the guitar playing wasn't as good as the originals, but still excellent.
The only other "names" I can remember seeing were Dr. Hook and Black Oak Arkansas. Alexandria LA was not a major stopping point for world class bands.LOL My first concert ever was BOA. Rory Gallagher was the opener Best shows I've seen. VH on their first tour . They opened for Black Sabbath(who sucked) , and The Stones in Miami on their Bridges To Babylon tour.

Never had the privilege unfortunately. I was only 13 when Freddie died. They played in Cleveland last year with Adam Lambert, but as we know that's not the same. The bands I love so much are getting too old to play anymore and some dont already. thankful I got to see Def leppard and Journey last year. When I was growing up in Birmingham, wasn't much to do besides BAMA, Auburn or Uab games. So we went to a lot of concerts. I've seen Queen, Def Leopard 4 times, Ozzy 5-6 times, Motley Crew 5-6 times, AC/DC, Van Halen 5-6 times, The Stones once at Legion Field, Blue Oyster Cult 3 times, Journey,Steppenwolf2-3 times, Rush 2-3 times, Dio 3-4 times, Judas Priest 2-3 times, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King...I could go on and on Ive seen Journey, Pat Benatar, Lynard Skynard, Blue Oyster Cult,38 Special, Donnie Iris (twice) Michael Stanley Band (at least 8 times..lost count)
Concerts I went with my wife__Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, and Sugarland

6-8-1. ugh LSU AT TEXAS +6.5 you look just at talent and lsu should not lose. plus the key injuries at rb for texas. but... the tigers are not good on the ooc road (7-11 ats as faves) nor vs higher quality ooc foes (4-7 ats vs power 5 opponents), tho they are 4-0 su/ats vs the big 12 of late. while the horns are 5-0 ats as home dogs and tom herman is an amazing 14-2 as a head coach getting points, with 11 outright upset wins. and here's cfb nerd stat #1 of the year; ooc home dogs in game 2 who scored 40+ in their opener are 36-19 ats TEXAS A&M AT CLEMSON -17 I heard an amazing stat this morning... in games that trevor lawrence started & finished, clemson has not won by less than 3 tds. wow. so can the aggies play them as tough as they did last year pre-trevor? they outgained the tigers by nearly 100 yds, and I don't think death valley-sc will intimidate a&m. taking sec teams as big ooc dogs is always attractive, but in addition the visitor is 4-1-1 as 12+ road dogs. the last 12 times a defending national champ played at home off a game 1 win, they are just 4-8 ats. and the last 30 times the champ has played an ooc game vs fbs foes, in a conference sandwich they are just 7-23 ats since 1980. BYU AT TENNESSEE -4 suicide alerts are up in bowo country. I'm headed down that way for work next week and I'm wondering if I should even bring up cfb. . and I think rocky top gets rockier this week. since 1980 home faves off a home loss as -20/more are just 23-39 ats. byu is better than georgia state. that 30-12 loss to utah last week is a little misleading, thanks to 2 pick-6's by the utes. cougars are 9-2 ats as road dogs lately, 5-1 ats after playing utah. and nerd stat #2; game 2 teams w/17+ returning starters, off a 10+ ats loss, are 17-3 ats as road dogs. VANDERBILT AT PURDUE – 6.5 one of the more intriguing matchups to me this week. boilers fell apart at nevada late in a 34-31 loss, w/5 turnovers. vandy got run over by uga 30-6. purdue not being a strong rushing team will help the 'dores I think. good trends for both teams here; pu is 8-1 ats off an ooc chalk loss, vandy is 2-0 ats as a dog vs big 10 foes. another stat goes against purdue tho; game 1 losers as favorites, who were a bowl team the previous year, are 7-15 ats in game 2 vs ooc teams who scored less than 14 ats in game 1. the sec visitors keep it interesting in west lafayette, where there's very little that fits the description 'interesting'. CINCINNATI AT OHIO STATE -16 more than half of uc's squad are ohio kids who'd like nothing more than to be the 1st ohio program in nearly a century to beat the bucks. the irony that luke fickell, a beloved buckeye from the mid 90s who started 50 games and coached here for 15 yrs, might pull off the feat is even juicier. the bearcats scrap on defense and have a rb in mike warren who could play on sundays. that said, cincy is just 8-15 ats vs ooc, 2-7 ats as dogs of 14+. florida atlantic isn't uc, but holding any d-1 program to -14 total yards in a half is quite a feat. the 'cats hang around early, but tosu stretches out toward the end. btw... the last 2 times these 2 played were in 2002, and 2014. hmmm. SYRACUSE AT MARYLAND -1.5 when the orange opened as a favorite here, I really liked the terps to pull off the upset. but all the money has flowed to maryland, which gives me pause (the public is not usually right). terps are just 3-20 ats off a su win, 'cuse is 19-9-1 ats in road games. NEBRASKA AT COLORADO +4 revenge spot for the huskers after losing 33-28 to cu last year. unl had 2 defensive td's and 1 from special teams, and they needed them in an ugly win over south alabama. buffs knocked off colorado state, but they are 1-7 ats off that rivalry game and 1-7 ats as home dogs lately. nebraska is 4-0 ats as road chalk, 5-1-1 ats in ooc away games. colorado does qualify for nerd stat #1 above, but I like the visitor here. RUTGERS AT IOWA -20 big 10 opener for both. hawks finished strong vs miami (38-14) while rutgers scored 41 straight pts to beat umass 48-21. kinnick is a tough place on visitors, but iowa is 0-7 ats when home chalk of 18+, 8-18 ats as league faves of 10+. they also have arch rival iowa state on deck. ru ended last season much improved, and it's a good spot for them to surprise. MIAMI AT NORTH CAROLINA +5 last year the canes beat unc 47-10, so they dominated, right? uh, no. the teams were virtually even in total yards, the tar heels led in 1st downs 24-14, but 8 turnovers (8!!!) made all those other stats moot. miami's o-line gave up 10 sacks to florida 2 weeks ago but their d kept them in that game. thought mack brown's crew showed moxie in beating use-e, and 1st yr coaches off a win are 10-1 ats in game 2 vs opponents off a loss. STANFORD AT USC +1 how do you pick a game where both starting qb's are out? the trees are 26-11 ats in pac 12 road games, while the trojans are 3-8 ats lately at home, 1-5 ats the last 6 vs su. ARMY AT MICHIGAN -22 neither looked impressive in wins last week. um's new offense is a work in progress... can their d stop the cadets' ground attack? army is 11-6 ats of late vs fbs opponents, 4-1 ats as dogs of 16+. the ugly hats are just 1-9 ats as chalk of 19+. since 1982, the academy programs are 39-13-1 ats as 20+ dogs off an ats loss, 19-4 ats in those games vs foes off a double digit win. MINNESOTA AT FRESNO STATE +3 kind of surprised that the gophers are favored here. fsu is 9-0 ats the last 3+ years getting points under coach jeff tedford, and 6-1ats the last 7 times they were home dogs of 4/less. minnesota is just 2-10 su the last 12 road games. CALIFORNIA AT WASHINGTON -13.5 last year cal shocked the huskies 12-10, and lately the bears are 8-1 ats as dogs of 3+ vs opponents off a win. uw is 1-7 ats the last 8 as pac 12 favorites. WEST VIRGINIA AT MISSOURI -14 tigers are 6-2 ats as home faves lately, and they cost me $$ getting beat at wyoming 37-31 despite outgaining the cowboys by 150+ yds. since '88, game 2 home teams off a game 1 loss as -14/more favorites are just 2-8 ats. wvu is 10-1 ats as a dog vs an opponent off a su favorite loss. SOUTH FLORIDA AT GEORGIA TECH -6 2 teams who got pummeled last week. but usf looks like a forest fire going out of control.

Journey more times than I can count, but never with Steve Perry. Had backstage passes for a meet and greet at one of those. They gave us beer, my friend swiped a glass Ross Valory was drinking vodka out of. Bob Seger, Neil Diamond, Chicago, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Adams, Peter Frampton, but the most entertaining, IMO, was Tina Turner.
