 I certainly wonder why some of the Cali folks live in homes grandfathered into existing code. During this event, I've enjoyed watching an Amazon Prime series called Bosch, based on a group of novels. Love his house view in Hollywood Hills overlooking LA. Supported by stilts on a hill side. WTF. Asked Walt. Grandfathered in. 2 BD, two bath, 1,100 sq ft house that'd cost you 1.5MM, maybe and you are two shakes from the bottom of the hill. Not just the owner's risk, however. The guy below you is forever looking up. |

It is required for new construction, doofus. Furniture is not part of a building and is not regulated. Fireproof? In fire zones, fire resistive measures are mandatory. Most new buildings require AFSS, including residential. "Asphalt sheets" ?? What is your question? |

Fireproof? Concrete furniture? Asphalt sheets? Furniture is not part of a building and is not regulated. Fireproof? In fire zones, fire resistive measures are mandatory. Most new buildings require AFSS, including residential. "Asphalt sheets" ?? What is your question? Fire "resistant" is not fire PROOF. If I am going to buy a house where fires are prevalent, I want my house to come through a fire unscathed, not counting cosmetic damage. A house built in a fire zone should be legally uninsurable, or require prohibitively expensive special fire insurance. That MIGHT stop people from being idiots.
