WEEK 2

Post by Walter on Sept 7, 2021 10:48:01 GMT -5
WEEK 2
"There's only two things I hate in this world: people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch."
Not a lot of good games to choose from this week.
THE GAMES
ALL GAMES SATURDAY, 11SEP21
1. (1-0) OREGON AT (1-0) OHIO STATE -14
BEST GAME OF THE WEEK. OREGON STRUGGLED AT HOME AGAINST FRESNO STATE, ACTUALLY TRAILING EARLY IN THE 4TH QUARTER 24-21 BEFORE TAKING CONTROL TO WIN IT. OHIO STATE AFTER HAVING SOME EARLY TROUBLES OF ITS OWN AGAINST MINNESOTA TOOK FIRM CONTROL IN THE SECOND HALF TO COASTED TO A COMFORTABLE WIN. OREGON LIKELY LOST THEIR BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER WHEN DE THIBODEAUX SUFFERED AN ANKLE INJURY, AND ALL THREE D LINE BACKUPS ARE FRESHMAN. HOWEVER, THOUGH THERE ISNâT A SINGLE SENIOR ON THE STARTING DEFENSIVE TEAM, OREGON STILL HAS ONE OF THE BEST FRONT 7 IN THE PAC12.
2. (1-0) PITT (1-0) AT TENNESSEE +3.5
PITT BEAT A HAPLESS UMASS TEAM 51-7, WHILE TENNESSEE BEAT SIMILARLY HAPLESS BOWLING GREEN 38-6. BOTH TEAMS ARE MIDDLE OF THE PACK IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CONFERENCES, AND BOTH ARE EXPECTED TO END THE SEASON ROUGHLY AS .500 TEAMS. THIS GAME MAY END UP DECIDING A BOWL BERTH OR NOT FOR ONE OF THEM.
3. (0-1) NAVY (1-0) AT AIR FORCE -6.5
AIR FORCE STARTED WITH AN EASY WIN AGAINST FCS LAFAYETTE, WHILE NAVY WAS BUSHWHACKED BY CUSA EAST FAV MARSHALL 49-7 IN THEIR FIRST GAME. NAVY, WITH ONLY 3 RETURNING STARTERS ON OFFENSE RUSHED FOR 335 YARDS, BUT FOR A TEAM THAT DOESNâT THROW THE BALL, THAT ISNâT AS IMPRESSIVE AS IT SOUNDS AS THEY COULDNâT FIND PAYDIRT. AIR FORCE ALSO REBUILDS ITS ENTIRE OLINE AND ALSO DOESNâT THROW MUCH AND GAINED 370 VS LAFAYETTE, PERHAPS ALSO NOT AS IMPRESSIVE AS IT SOUNDS, BUT IT DID YIELD 5 TDS.
4. (0-1) CALIFORNIA AT (1-0) TEXAS CHRISTIAN -10
WHILE CAL WAS LOSING TO A PRETTY GOOD NEVADA TEAM, 22-17 AT HOME, TCU WAS SCRIMMAGING AGAINST DUQUESNE, BEATING THEM 45-3 IN A GAME WHERE THEY DECIDED TO PLAY 12 MINUTE QUARTERS IN THE SECOND HALF. SUFFICE TO SAY, TCU HASNâT BEEN TESTED BUT ON PAPER IS SOLID ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL.
5. (1-0) IOWA AT (1-0) IOWA STATE -4
TWO RANKED TEAMS FROM IOWA FACE OFF EARLY IN THE SEASON. IOWA STATE GOT A SCARE BEFORE BEATING FCS NORTHERN IOWA 14-6, WHILE IOWA WAS BEATING INDIANA 34-6.
6. (1-0)COLORADO VS (1-0) TEXAS A&M -17 AT DENVER
ANOTHER SEC TEAM TRAVELS WEST TO PLAY THE PAC12. COLORADO CRUISED TO A WIN OVER LOWLY NORTHERN COLORADO 35-7 WHILE TEXAS A&M WAS BEATING UP KENT STATE, SO RECORDS DONâT MEAN MUCH. TAMU RETURNS MOST SKILL POSITION O STARTERS, BUT NOTABLY ARE REBUILDING THE OLINE AND BREAK IN A NEW QB, WHO TOSSED 3 INTS IN HIS FIRST START. THEY FACE A COLORADO D THAT DIDNâT GET MUCH RESPECT IN THE PRESEASON RAGS, BUT GAVE UP JUST 20 YARDS RUSHING ON 18 CARRIES TO N. COLORADO. TAMU, HOWEVER, AINâT N. COLORADO.
7. (1-0) APPALACHIAN STATE AT (0-1) MIAMI (FLA) -8
APPY STATE COMES OFF A WIN OVER RIVAL EAST CAROLINA TO MEET A MIAMI TEAM HUMBLED BY ALABAMA IN THEIR OPENER.
8. (1-0) NORTH CAROLINA STATE AT (1-0) MISSISSIPPI STATE +2.5 EDIT - NOTE CORRECTION
MSU TRAILED LA TECH 34-14 EARLY IN THE 4TH BEFORE WAKING UP AND PULLING OUT A 35-34 WIN, SURVIVING A MISERABLE 4 TURNOVER GAME. MSU COACH MIKE LEACH IN EXPLAINING THE COMEBACK SAID, âNOBODY HAD A DENTAL APPOINTMENT OR STUDY HALL, SO WE DECIDED TO PLAY FOOTBALL.â MEANWHILE NC STATE DOMINATED SOUTH FLA. IN AN IMPRESSIVE FIRST GAME 45-0 WIN.
9. (1-0) TEXAS AT (1-0) ARKANSAS +6.5
. WHILE TEXAS TOOK CARE OF WANNABE LOUISIANA-LA 38-17 LEADING MOST OF THE GAME, ARKANSAS STRUGGLED AGAINST RICE, TRAILED AT THE HALF, AND WAS BOOED BY THE HOME CROWD AS THEY LEFT THE FIELD BEFORE SNAPPING OUT OF IT AND ROLLING TO THE EASY WIN IN THE SECOND HALF, FINAL SCORE 38-17.
10. (1-0) MISSOURI AT KENTUCKY -5
MISSOURI BEAT CENTRAL MICHIGAN 34-24 IN A GAME THAT WAS PRETTY EVEN MOST OF THE WAY. CMICH WAS WITHIN 3 EARLY IN THE 4TH QUARTER. MEANWHILE, KENTUCKY WAS BEATING LOUISIANA-MONROE 45-10 WITH 367 YARDS AND 4 TDS PASSING WHILE HOLDING LA-M TO JUST 165 TOTAL YARDS.
11. (0-1) WASHINGTON AT (1-0) MICHIGAN -6.5
THE HUSKIES OFFENSE, RETURNING THEIR ENTIRE OLINE, PLAYED A MISERABLE FIRST GAME, RUSHING FOR ONLY 65 YARDS WHILE QB MORRIS TOSSED 3 PICKS IN THE LOSS TO MONTANA. MICHIGAN, WITH A BRAND NEW OLINE, TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS, BEATING WESTERN MICH 45-17, RUSHING FOR A WHOPPING 335 YARDS.
12. (1-0) UAB AT (1-0) GEORGIA -26.5
GEORGIA, OFF A SEASON DEFINING WIN OVER #3 CLEMSON, HOSTS UAB, A TEAM PICKED TO WIN THE CUSA WEST. UAB THOROUGHLY DOMINATED LOWLY JACKSONVILLE STATE 31-7 AND THOUGH THAT MAY NOT IMPRESS YOU, THEY STILL MAY HAVE THE BEST D IN CUSA. OKAY, THAT STILL MAY NOT IMPRESS YOU EITHER, BUT COMING OFF A BIG WIN, IS THERE A LETDOWN FOR THE DAWGS TO MAKE IT INTERESTING? ON PAPER, THIS ISNâT CLOSE, BUT THATâS WHY THEY PLAY âEM.
13. (1-0) SAN DIEGO STATE AT (0-1) ARIZONA â PICK
SDSt BEAT A HAPLESS NEW MEXICO STATE TEAM, 28-6 WHILE ARIZONA LOST TO BYU 24-16
14. (0-1) STANFORD AT (1-0) USC -17.5
STANFORD LOST IN THEIR OPENER 24-7 TO KANSAS STATE, FAILING TO SCORE UNTIL THE WANING MOMENTS OF THE GAME TO ESCAPE BEING SHUT OUT. USC DIDNâT LOOK TERRIBLY POLISHED BUT CONTROLLED SAN JOSE STATE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL AND WON 30-7.
15. (1-0) UTAH AT (1-0) BYU +7
WHILE UTAH WAS BEATING UP WEBER STATE, BYU WITH A NEW QB AND REBUILT OLINE, SLIPPED BY PAC12 ARIZONA 24-16 IN A GAME THAT WAS PRETTY EVEN. UTAH HAS A NEW QB OF ITS OWN, ALBEIT A GRADUATE TRANSFER FROM BAYLOR PLAYING IN HIS 5TH YEAR OF COLLEGE BALL BEHIND AN OFFENSE THAT RETURNS EVERY STARTER FROM LAST SEASONâS TEAM.

Post by Walter on Sept 7, 2021 13:00:54 GMT -5
In the last full season, 2019, I think we only had 6 or 7 pushes out of 170+ games. As ET say, it's just part of the game. I can't alter the line. It's bad enough that I set the line from Vegas early in the week and it sometimes changes by game day.

SUFFICE TO SAY, TCU HASNâT BEEN TESTED BUT ON PAPER IS SOLID ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. 5. (1-0) IOWA AT (1-0) IOWA STATE -4TWO RANKED TEAMS FROM IOWA FACE OFF EARLY IN THE SEASON. IOWA STATE GOT A SCARE BEFORE BEATING FCS NORTHERN IOWA 14-6, WHILE IOWA WAS BEATING INDIANA 34-6. 6. (1-0)COLORADO VS (1-0) TEXAS A&M -17 AT DENVERANOTHER SEC TEAM TRAVELS WEST TO PLAY THE PAC12. COLORADO. 7. (1-0) APPALACHIAN STATE AT (0-1) MIAMI (FLA) -8APPY STATE COMES OFF A WIN OVER RIVAL EAST CAROLINA TO MEET A MIAMI TEAM HUMBLED BY ALABAMA IN THEIR OPENER. 8. (1-0) NORTH CAROLINA STATE AT (1-0) MISSISSIPPI STATE +2.5 EDIT - NOTE CORRECTIONMSU TRAILED LA TECH 34-14 EARLY IN THE 4TH BEFORE WAKING UP AND PULLING OUT A 35-34 WIN, SURVIVING A MISERABLE 4 TURNOVER GAME. 9. (1-0) TEXAS AT (1-0) ARKANSAS +6.5. WHILE TEXAS TOOK CARE OF WANNABE LOUISIANA-LA 38-17 LEADING MOST OF THE GAME, ARKANSAS STRUGGLED AGAINST RICE, TRAILED AT THE HALF, AND WAS BOOED BY THE HOME CROWD AS THEY LEFT THE FIELD BEFORE SNAPPING OUT OF IT AND ROLLING TO THE EASY WIN IN THE SECOND HALF, FINAL SCORE 38-17. 10. (1-0) MISSOURI AT KENTUCKY -5MISSOURI BEAT CENTRAL MICHIGAN 34-24 IN A GAME THAT WAS PRETTY EVEN MOST OF THE WAY. CMICH WAS WITHIN 3 EARLY IN THE 4TH QUARTER. MEANWHILE, KENTUCKY WAS BEATING LOUISIANA-MONROE 45-10 WITH 367 YARDS AND 4 TDS PASSING WHILE HOLDING LA-M TO JUST 165 TOTAL YARDS. 11. (0-1) WASHINGTON AT (1-0) MICHIGAN -6.5THE HUSKIES OFFENSE, RETURNING THEIR ENTIRE OLINE, PLAYED A MISERABLE FIRST GAME, RUSHING FOR ONLY 65 YARDS WHILE QB MORRIS TOSSED 3 PICKS IN THE LOSS TO MONTANA. MICHIGAN, WITH A BRAND NEW OLINE, TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS, BEATING WESTERN MICH 45-17, RUSHING FOR A WHOPPING 335 YARDS. 12. (1-0) UAB AT (1-0) GEORGIA -26.5GEORGIA, OFF A SEASON DEFINING WIN OVER #3 CLEMSON, HOSTS UAB, A TEAM PICKED TO WIN THE CUSA WEST. 13. (1-0) SAN DIEGO STATE AT (0-1) ARIZONA â PICKSDSt BEAT A HAPLESS NEW MEXICO STATE TEAM, 28-6 WHILE ARIZONA LOST TO BYU 24-16 14. (0-1) STANFORD AT (1-0) USC -17.5STANFORD LOST IN THEIR OPENER 24-7 TO KANSAS STATE, FAILING TO SCORE UNTIL THE WANING MOMENTS OF THE GAME TO ESCAPE BEING SHUT OUT. USC DIDNâT LOOK TERRIBLY POLISHED BUT CONTROLLED SAN JOSE STATE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL AND WON 30-7. 15. (1-0) UTAH AT (1-0) BYU +7WHILE UTAH WAS BEATING UP WEBER STATE, BYU WITH A NEW QB AND REBUILT OLINE, SLIPPED BY PAC12 ARIZONA 24-16 IN A GAME THAT WAS PRETTY EVEN. UTAH HAS A NEW QB OF ITS OWN, ALBEIT A GRADUATE TRANSFER FROM BAYLOR PLAYING IN HIS 5TH YEAR OF COLLEGE BALL BEHIND AN OFFENSE THAT RETURNS EVERY STARTER FROM LAST SEASONâS TEAM.
