My AR's crossed the border into a free state today

I gave CA the finger salute in my rear view mirror and will take that f-ing fascist garbage workaround off my AR's ASAP that enabled me to classify them as non "assault weapons" and not register them with the fascists as "assault weapons". And hey, my 20 and 30 round mags are happy too.

This has been a big fear of mine since they disallowed the original "bullet button" and went full tyranny demanding everyone register their AR's as "assault weapons". I chose to to say f*ck you and made mine gray area legal by making it impossible to release the mag without taking the action apart, which is simply pulling the rear take down pin and tilting the upper, barrel down. The "new" bullet button can then be pushed to release the 10 round mag. F*ck them. Like I said, grey area although technically legal. Tyrannical DA's I do not trust so a HUGE relief. The rest of my guns, except my P220 carry, are still in CA. They'll all be escaping tyranny in the next three weeks.

It's special mag release that has an extension up top that pushes against the upper disallowing the mag release to push in. Once you tilt the upper forward the extension is not obstructed and the mag release can be pushed in releasing the mag. It has to be permanent so it's epoxied into itself so I'll have to drill out the center of it to remove and install a normal AR mag release.

Not only that but I had to pay $50 a piece for this clever work around to CA tyranny law just to end up destroying them to remove. On THREE AR's. Much better option than registering as "assault weapons"...

Why not just buy a new stripped lower that conforms to non-tyranny standards?

Palmetto State Armory has them pretty cheap.

These are existing normal AR's. You can buy featureless AR's in CA. How do these PS lower receivers conform exactly and who would want that shit?

But I might be wrong.

Unless something has changed all stripped AR lower receivers are the same. The difference is in the parts installed. Only a full auto lower is different in that there's some extra material hogged out behind the area of the trigger group that allows the auto sear to operate. Again, this is where we were at before CA started going full tyranny something like 4-5 years ago.

Yeah, and I was thinking it would be easier to simply swap your existing components into a new lower, and simply add the same mag release that non-tyranny AR's have.

Admittedly, I am not an AR guy, so you know a whole lot more about them than I do.

Yes, I've completely built two stripped lowers into high end AR's. It takes soecific knowledge and special purpose built tools. One lower is a high end Battle Arms Development out of Henderson, NV and the other is a Spikes Tactical out of Florida. The pre-built uppers are Palmetto State on the B.A.D. and a Spikes on the Spikes. I put ambidexterous Geissele charging handles in all my AR's. All three are beauties fully tricked out with high end quick release optics and deluxe Magpul flip up rear iron sights. One has the standard A2 F marked front sight (Spikes} while the railed Palmetto has a Magpul deluxe flip up front sight.
My SIG M400 has been stuffed with better lower controls and upgraded Magpul shoulder stock. I put high end Geissele buffers and springs in all three as well. Super smooth and very little recoil.

Also, all three have Geissele two stage triggers. I feel Geissele makes the best AR triggers out there.

Mine just looks like a typical Vietnam-era M-16, but with a 16" barrel, shorter handguard, and birdcage flash hider..
The only non standard item on it is this little charging handle latch extension.

The beauty of the AR is the nearly unlimited ability to change out parts. For example, I put B.A.D. short throw selector switches in mine that I really like. Instead of a 90° throw it's a 45° throw, ambidexterous.
