kind of expected last night’s loss, coming on the heels of clinching the division sunday. still they came back tonite it in the 8th and had numerous opps all game (13 lob?). bieber had just 1 bad inning but the pen still looked dynamite til the 11th. from a confidence standpoint would still be good to take 2 of 3 from the rays, since we could still face them in the first rd and recent history not being so hot vs tampa.

I expected some hangover coming off of 18 of their last 21....but they were playing hard. They were one strike away from getting out of the inning the the grounder wasnt reachable for Ramirez down the 3rd base line and the outfielder took a bad angle to field it and the 2nd run was able to come across to make it 6-4 in the top of the 11th

REAL iffy ground coming up here for Francona...especially with this young team. The chemistry has been there, they've been HOT...does he risk a ripple in Big MO & resting the wrong guy at the wrong time? Touchy touchy...

The chemistry has been there, they've been HOT...does he risk a ripple in Big MO & resting the wrong guy at the wrong time? Touchy touchy... based on how they're playing I think the entire organization is buying in. if this club was full of vets and power hitters and stars, I think there'd be a bigger danger. but these guys, except for basically jose ramirez who was on the '16 world series team, are just at an amusement part riding every ride that they can. they know they have to scrap and hustle and play defense and do the little things... the way they've played in september has proven that and it sure does seem they like how that feels. every game it's different guys, and multiple guys, performing, whether it's a starter or one of the numerous arms in what's been a very effective bullpen leading up to clase who's been the best closer in the majors. last night rosario got the night off, then in the 10th pinch hits and on his first swing of the night drives in the winning run. I don't know how you can't love the old school atmosphere tito has w/this team.

Thankfully, the pitching has been stellar, ironically because the playoff roster is far from set and pitchers are making their case to make the playoff squad. In short, I don't know how you keep that edge after a 162 game grind absent some sort of fear of failure. It will be interesting to see how the G-men handle it.

I believe that happened to the Mariners when they won 116 games in 2001

the guardians do it again... another come from behind win, putting up 2 runs in the 8th for a 2nd straight 2-1 win over tampa, who could have clinched a post season spot w/a win. a kwan double and a gonzalez dribbler that got thru the right side each knocked in runs in the 8th. in the 9th trevor stephen walked the bases loaded then got a punch out and fly out to save it. that's 37 come from behind wins this year for cleveland, 29 of them in their final at bat.
labor day weekend this club was 68-64, tied for 1st and scuffling. they're now 88-68, have won 20 of their last 24, and has a great shot of winning 90+ w/a bunch of kids in the dugout. unreal.
