Watched a Dodger spring game yesterday. First opinion: I really hate it the pitch clock. I mean HATE IT. They had the countdown in the corner and as a viewing experience all I did was stare at the clock. Ruins the whole feel of the game, IMO. If they insist on having the clock, don't show it to me on TV and maybe I can live with it. As I sat there watching, guess what word kept popping up in my head? That was true for the game I saw. But they fixed that by having it boxed in the corner of the stat line along the bottom, right next to the balls and strikes line. Did I mention that it's really annoying?

Well, Are we enjoying spring ball fellas____I am!!!! After the initial shock (see posts), I am starting to get used to things. Not as bad as I thought. I saw a Utube clip with a side by side of a spring game and some game last year, and in the time the spring game had finished a half inning, the pre-rule change game had just two pitches. So there's that... In short, I'm coming around.

And I do like the pace but I am still not comfortable with the rushed feeling of it. That's just not baseball to me but if it means I don't have to watch hitters and pitchers walking around adjusting their batting gloves, grabbing their crotches, licking their fingers or going through other strange rituals, I will be ok with it.

My gut reaction as well, both pro and con. There's a reason Baseball is played in the summer. It's almost relaxing to watch or listen to out on the ol' back porch. The pitch clock adds anxiety about time, which just isn't what the game is about. That said, perhaps when the rule sinks in it'll become a non-factor as the players adjust. I agree that the Scherzer style tactic does add some new fun to the game which I never expected.
