Mr. Jefferson is behind CeCe's problems. Again, the easy fix is to simply have mom sign the LOI. It only takes one parent's signature: By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent Published: Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 12:40 p.m. Last Modified: Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 12:40 p.m. Five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson is a Gator, but his future at Florida is still not official and may be in jeopardy. The U.S. Army All-American from Glen Saint Mary Baker County verbally committed to UF on signing day during a live announcement on ESPNU. But his letter of intent never came through the fax machine Wednesday, and as of his Thursday afternoon it still hadn’t been sent according to his father, Leo Jefferson. “No sir, and it’s not going to,” he said. “You tell the Gainesville Sun that he isn't going to fax it in. I won't let him.” Jefferson turned 19 last week. His father, however, said he still has to approve the LOI, which Jefferson signed in front of ESPNU cameras with his mother by his side in tears. “What made me decide on Florida is I feel at home there,” Jefferson said on the ESPNU telecast. “And I’ll be close to my family. So if I ever need anything, it’s just a skip and hop from them to come bring me something.” But Jefferson’s father doesn’t like the idea of his son playing less than an hour away from home. “I’m a die-hard Gator fan, but personally, I want CeCe to go somewhere else,” Jefferson said. “I wanted to get him away from home. I didn’t want him in Gainesville, to tell you the truth.” Per NCAA rules, Florida can only comment on recruits who have signed and faxed in their letters of intent. It is unclear where Jefferson currently stands with his decision or when/if he will fax his LOI to Florida. Are mom and dad still together? This could be a solution if they are divorced. Mom wouldn't care if she pissed dad off. But if they are still living together then they will have to come to an agreement as a couple. How does this even happen? It's not like NSD snuck up on them, they have known all along when it was so if the parents allowed him to commit on national television without giving him their blessing, or even knowing they weren't going to approve of his decision, why did they even let him announce?

CeCe says he isn't changing from UF. The problem is his father is in possession of the LOI. The mother is willing to sign. If the father doesn't return the LOI, UF can/will eventually produce another LOI for CeCe and his mother to sign. Looks like it's just a matter of time regardless of what Leo Jefferson wants.
How does this happen? I honestly don't know.

So who has legal custody? If this kid is 19 then can't he sign his own contract regardless? Generally speaking, yes. On an LOI, no. The family is together and either parent can sign. The update is Leo Jefferson is now being defended as wanting to see who UF's new DL coach would be. That's now been solved as I'll show in the next post. CeCe is posting he wants to come to the UK at UF basketball game tomorrow. Why? I don't know as UF is going to get a home court woodshed whipping. However, CeCe and his mom or dad could hand deliver the LOI. This appears close to being over.

UF hires DL coach to replace Williams who is headed to the Miami Dolphins. Chris Rumph recruited CeCe Jefferson in 13 when he was at bama:

The day after losing his defensive line coach to the NFL, Florida coach Jim McElwain replaced him with his top target, Texas assistant head coach and defensive line coach Chris Rumph.
Rumph’s hiring was announced by McElwain on Friday. He replaces Terrell Williams, who left Thursday after just a month on the job to become the defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins.
"Chris and I obviously have some experience working together from our days at Alabama," McElwain said. "He joins a group of like thinkers on our staff and is someone who will positively affect our players' lives — both on and off the field."
McElwain and Rumph were on the same Alabama staff in 2011. Rumph was the Tide’s defensive line coach for three seasons (2011-13) before joining Charlie Strong’s staff at Texas this past season.
Rumph’s defensive line at Texas in 2014 was one of the strongest in the nation, averaging 3.1 sacks a game.
Before being hired by Nick Saban at Alabama, Rumph spent five seasons on the Clemson staff.
Rumph has a reputation for being an excellent recruiter.

Rivals Roundtable Discussion of UF's 23rd Rated Recruiting Class (Zach A. of the Gainesville Sun participating): florida.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1734984I'd give the class a B. It should have had two more LBs, a QB, and another high quality WR to get up to an A and a top 10 class. I give the new staff an A for effort.

CeCe Jefferson is officially a Gator:
By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent
Published: Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10:57 a.m.
Last Modified: Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:56 a.m.
The CeCe Jefferson saga is now over.
The five-star defensive end sent his national letter of intent to Florida on Monday. The Sun first reported the news.
“Today is the day that I officially become a Florida Gator,” Jefferson said on his Twitter account. “Sorry for the wait #GatorNation!”
Jefferson, a U.S. Army All-American from Glen Saint Mary Baker County, verbally committed to UF last Wednesday during a live announcement on ESPNU.
However, he did not fax his letter of intent to the school due to the coaching change at his position. His father had the same reservation, among others, and even told The Sun he wanted his son to play elsewhere.
But after Florida’s hire of defensive line coach Chris Rumph — who has a relationship with Jefferson and recruited him for more than two years — and a “long talk” Saturday between Jefferson’s father and defensive coordinator Geoff Collins, the consensus top-20 overall recruit and his family felt comfortable enough to fax the letter Monday.
“It’s awesome,” Jefferson’s father said of his son becoming a Gator. “It’s been a ride, but we enjoyed the recruiting process. Met some good people along the way and had some great experiences. Now it’s time to move forward.”
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound pass rusher is expected to see the field as a true freshman and contribute on Florida’s defensive line.
“I think CeCe is going to have a big impact on the program,” Jefferson’s father said. “I want him to have a great career, but it’s on him to go out there and make it happen. I know he’s ready.”

My apologies to steaksauce. He said UF needed to improve facilities to keep up with the SEC. I thought it was just the indoor practice facility, but it was more. Try $100 million all total. That's a years worth of UF income so it must be long overdue. While the vibe is indeed good in Gainesville, I think it will take a year on things football related before we start to see what we had come to expect as the norm for the UF football program. The end of a long dark tunnel is in sight:
Written by Nick de la Torre, February 9, 2015
Jeremy Foley and the University Athletic Association are invested with keeping the University of Florida on the cutting edge. Part of that investment means keeping up with the Joneses when it comes to facilities.
How invested are Foley and the UAA, approximately $100 million dollars invested in making sure that the Florida Gators have the facilities to match their pedigree on and off the field.
“A little over $100 million in projects right now with the O’Connell Center, the Student Life and the indoor practice facility, but at the end of the day our job is to support our coaches,” Foley said. “Obviously the Gator Nation wants to get this ship turned when it relates to football. It’s our job do to everything we can.”
Florida is currently working on an indoor practice facility, a new office of student life and will break ground on renovating the Stephen C. O’Connell Center following this season. The indoor practice facility is something that fans had longed for impatiently and openly. Florida and Vanderbilt are the only teams in the SEC that don’t currently have an indoor facility for their football programs but the Gators have already begun work on the Sanders Practice Facility (adjacent to McKethan Stadium and the O’Dome) to build a full 120-yard facility that will be ready at the beginning of the 2015 season.
“The indoor practice facility is being started now as we speak. If you go out there you can see them do some work,” said Foley. “We still have some meetings with our board, our UAA board, to figure out and finalize the financing of that. But we’re committed to that. That will be ready by next September.”
The initial plans called for a smaller indoor facility but, with the input of Jim McElwain, the UAA has opted to build a full field. As the saying goes, if you’re going to so something, don’t just do it, do it right.
“[McElwain’s] fingerprints are going to be on the program,” Foley said. “Again that’s no different anytime you bring a coach in here, but he made it clear what his vision was as it related to infrastructure and it’s my job to help him achieve all those things.”
In addition to the three planned renovations, Foley also announced that the dorms that student-athletes stay in would be renovated. It’s part of a huge investment into what will bring Florida’s facilities back up to par with the rest of the top programs in the SEC and breath new life into tired facilities.
The hire of McElwain and the renovation plans have Gator fans excited. Sure, there was some excitement when new offensive coordinators were brought in but this is different. It’s palpable. Florida fans are ready for the McElwain era to get going and everyone in the building with Foley can feel that.
“I think there’s a really good vibe around our program now. Everywhere I go in town, people are excited about Mac. The finish on signing day, the phone calls and e-mails I got, they’re different e-mails than I was getting this fall, for sure,” Foley said.
“At the end of the day, we need to go win games. We all get that. It’s all that matters. But I’m very confident in Mac. Just look at his track record. He’s won a lot of games in his life. That’s going to happen here. I think it’s going to happen in a way that’s going to make the Gator Nation happy, so I like the vibe right now.”

Now that CeCe Jefferson's LOI is in, Gatorzone has released the complete class with bios: www.gatorzone.com/story.php?id=29727It's a good looking transitional class that will allow UF to build on with the 16 class, including a large number of early enrollees. UF has only had two transfers, Jeff Driskel (La Tech) and Gerald Willis (Miami), so things on that front are looking better than when Muschamp came onboard and experienced 10 transfers by the start of spring ball. Time will tell, but I don't see 8 more transfers. UF will also get a boost from the return of Jonathan Bullard at SDE/DT, Antonio Morrison at MLB, and Jake McGee at TE. Coach Mac is continually looking for another QB to come in for the 15 season. So far, there hasn't been anything substantial to report.

FSU is as talented top to bottom as I've seen in a very very long time. EDIT: Just counted that Alabama had 12 last year. Anyone know of a year when a team had more than a dozen?

Coach Mac hires WR coach to complete staff - I think this has more to do with recruiting than coaching - My guess is Coach Mac will help with WRs the way Muschamp helped with DBs:
Tuesday February 10, 2015 Wide Receiver Coach Kerry Dixon Completes Florida Football Staff Gainesville, Fla.
GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Kerry Dixon II was hired Tuesday as Florida’s wide receivers coach, head coach Jim McElwain announced. With Dixon’s hire, the 2015 coaching staff is now complete. Dixon has spent 10 years coaching the offensive side of the ball, including one season as an offensive coordinator.
“Kerry is a young, energetic, up-and-coming coach,” said McElwain. “He has strong recruiting ties throughout the state and as a former offensive coordinator he will bring value to the offensive game plan.”
Dixon spent the 2014 season as the running backs coach at FIU in Miami. He led a running back group that rushed for nearly 1,500 yards on the season.
Prior to his year with the Panthers, Dixon spent two seasons at nearby FAU coaching the Owls’ running backs. In 2013, FAU rushed for 2,215 yards and 21 touchdowns, both school records. The rushing attack ranked fifth in Conference USA averaging 184.6 yards per game.
In his first season at FAU, Dixon’s running back group had the task of replacing the school’s all-time leading rusher, current Washington Redskin Alfred Morris. The running-back-by-committee approach succeeded, as they totaled just 38 less rushing yards and 167 more receiving yards than the previous season.
Dixon spent two seasons at Montana State, reaching the FCS Quarterfinals both years. He coached a running back tandem, Cody Kirk and Tray Robinson, that combined for nearly 2,000 rushing yards in 2011 and scored 21 overall touchdowns. Kirk’s 1,351 yards rank fifth all-time in school history for a single season and he earned All-Big Sky First Team honors. Robinson was named the Big Sky Newcomer of the Year and earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors. In 2010, Dixon tutored All-Big Sky Second Team running back Orenzo Scott, who rushed for 1,126 yards and 10 touchdowns.
In his one season as offensive coordinator at Stillman, Dixon produced an All-America running back in Quinn Porter, who rushed for 138.6 yards per game and went on to play for the St. Louis Rams.
At Texas Southern, Stillman had a pair of quarterbacks throw for over 1,000 yards in 2008. Bobby Reid totaled 1,791 passing yards with 12 touchdowns, while Cornelius Harmon threw for 1,066 yards with six scores.
Dixon began his coaching career at his alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, Texas. He then spent one season at Morgan State coaching the quarterbacks.
As a quarterback coming out of Booker T. Washington in 2002, Dixon signed to play at Baylor and started twice as a freshman for the Bears. He moved to receiver as a sophomore before suffering an injury and ultimately transferring to Hampton. He was a team captain as a senior for the Pirates and played in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities All-Star Classic in 2005.
