If he had some prior connection with UF, his schtick would be easier to take. But right now he sounds like a used car salesman. I really hope I have to eat those words in a year or two. ' Me too!

With the hot seat coaching situation being what it was for the last year, Coach Mac and staff did about as well as they could in recruiting. In December, UF had 6 recruits and the 102nd national ranking. UF closed today with 21 signed recruits, could have signed up to 26 under normal conditions. The class is consensus top 25, 20-28 range:
20 ESPN 20 247 Sports 23 Rivals 28 Scout
The following is a grade from the Gainesville Sun's Robbie Andreu:

QUARTERBACK: UF had hoped to flip either Deondre Francois (FSU) or Lamar Jackson (Louisville), but both stuck to their pledges after visiting UF late in the process.
Grade: I (incomplete).
RUNNING BACK: Gaining the late commitment from four-star tailback Jordan Scarlett was huge. The Gators on Wednesday picked up another highly regarded back in Jordan Cronkrite. Grade: A.
RECEIVERS: Picking up four-star Miami wide receiver Antonio Callaway on Wednesday offset the loss of Derrick Dillon, an early commitment who flipped to LSU on Wednesday. Grade: B.
OFFENSIVE LINE: Florida’s No. 1 recruiting priority was five-star tackle Martez Ivey, and he signed with the Gators, giving UF a strong class of six. Huge need filled. Grade: A+.
DEFENSIVE LINE: The afternoon announcement by five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson that he’s a Gator was a huge boost to the defensive front and the recruiting class as a whole. Grade: B+.
LINEBACKER: After signing zero linebackers a year ago, this was a huge position of need, but the Gators signed only one — two-star prospect Rayshad Jackson. Grade: D.
SECONDARY: Given all the young talent in the UF secondary, this was not a big need. But the Gators signed a three-star safety (Kylan Johnson) and a four-star cornerback (Chris Williamson). Grade: B.
OVERALL: Due to the coaching change, Jim McElwain and his staff had commitments from only eight prospects two weeks ago. The Gators finished strong, adding two five-star recruits Wednesday and filling a critical need on the offensive Grade: B+.
- Robbie Andreu
Notes:
1. Coach Mac is still looking for a QB to sign post NSD.
2. UF has accepted a walk on punter from Tampa Plant, Matthew Beadle. His high school HC says he's the best punter in Florida.
3. Gerald Willis is transferring to Miami. He was allowed back into UF classes, but not back on the team. That makes transfer #2.
4. While D grade at LB is fair, one has to consider Antonio Morrison returning for his senior season as a huge plus.
5. In addition to Morrison returning, Jonathan Bullard is also returning for his senior year to improve his draft position and Jake McGee was given a medical eligibility 6th season.

This from Gatorzone on Gerald Willis:
In other news, the University of Miami announced that Gators freshman defensive tackle Gerald Willis is joining its football program.
A talented player signed in 2014, Willis was involved in multiple off-the-field issues at Florida and wore out his welcome.

After starting the day outside the top 40, good to see the gators close strong and pull a top 20 class. Just the beginning of the McElwain era at Uf

I consider this class to have exceeded all expectations. I would have called it a success with 18 three star recruits just so UF could conduct proper practices and develop decent depth. I'm glad Coach Mac didn't settle for my expectations. I don't really know what was going on in the Byron Cowart home, but had Cowart faxed to UF instead of Auburn, UF would have jumped to a top 15 class. UF had a shot at top 15 without Cowart, but 4 star WR/DB Derrick Dillon was flipped by LSU today and 3 star OL Mike Horton was also flipped today by Auburn. All things considered, I think this will prove to be a highly successful transitional class.

Evidently he was a high school teammate of our Tight End Standish Dobard and Dobard vouched for him and volunteered to mentor him at Miami.

Weird situation with his fax, too. He announced Auburn, left his LOI to his coach to send in and his coach said he thought Cowart was only announcing and not actually faxing anything today. Weird all the way around.

Weird all the way around. UF continued to recruit Cowart up to when he faxed his LOI to AU. Coach Mac delayed his news conference almost 30 minutes as UF tried in vane to get Cowart to come to UF. My guess is momma wanted Cowart with the coach she knows best, Muschamp, and Cowart wasn't sure he didn't want to be at UF. Dominique Easley tweeted that Chuckie isn't an Auburn recruit and he will always be a Gator. Easley gave Chuckie to Cowart when he left UF for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if he told Cowart to drop Chuckie off in Gainesville as he passes through on the l o n g drive to Auburn.

Crap! CeCe Jefferson's father won't sign his UF LOI. CeCe isn't a done deal until the LOI is faxed and received. Now this:
Andrew Spivey @andrewspiveygc
Florida defensive line coach Terrell Williams is heading back to the NFL (Miami Dolphins). Texas defensive line coach Chris Rumph will replace him.
If CeCe ends up at AU, I don't know who I'll be most pissed at, Will Muschamp for collecting $6.3 million from UF while taking UF leaning recruits who previously had no interest in AU or Jeremy Foley for not insisting on a one year non-compete addendum with UF for Muschamp to get his buyout and all the good treatment he got in the media from UF when he was let go.

Muschamp left holes in the Gator roster:
Robbies Playbook Muschamp left some holes Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 10:59 by Robbie Andreu
As he showed again Wednesday, Will Muschamp is a great recruiter when it comes to landing elite prospects. But recruiting isn’t just about landing stars, it’s also about filling needs. In that regard, Muschamp fell short in some areas in his four years at Florida. As a result, new coach Jim McElwain has some serious holes to fill, which he started doing on National Signing Day.
In what amounted to his exit news conference a day after he was fired, Muschamp boasted that he was leaving the new coach with a bunch of talented players. Well he is in some spots, but not in others.
This spring, McElwain will have only eight scholarship offensive linemen to work with and only six scholarship linebackers. That’s not enough at either spot. Not even close.
The Gators are in this predicament at those positions because Muschamp failed to meet recruiting needs at both. In his first two years at UF (2011-12), he signed only two offensive linemen each year and a total of only 15 over four years. Ideally, coaches like to sign five offensive linemen in every recruiting cycle. Muschamp fell well short of that and now McElwain and his staff will have to cope with a lack of offensive linemen.
The Gators face a similar situation at linebacker thanks to Muschamp’s failure to fill recruiting needs. Over four years, Muschamp signed only seven linebackers — none a year ago. He signed only one in 2011 and just two in 2012. With Antonio Morrison still recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in the bowl game, the Gators will have only five scholarship linebackers in the spring — Matt Rolin, Daniel McMillian, Jeremi Powell, Alex Anzalone and Jarrad Davis. Davis is the only one with significant playing experience on defense.
One area where Muschamp met or exceeded needs was in the secondary, where he coached the safeties (and took care of himself). During his four years at UF, Muschamp signed 18 defensive backs, compared to only 11 wide receivers and just six running backs.
On Wednesday, Muschamp, the new defensive coordinator at Auburn, drew national attention and praise for his ability to sign some elite players out of Florida that he’d developed relationships with while he was at UF. There’s no doubt he hurt the Gators with his recruiting ability. It also can be said he did the same when he was still here. The evidence is on the current roster.

Ok, CeCe Jefferson was advised earlier in the week of the coaching change at the DL. The question remains why won't CeCe's dad sign his LOI? From what I gather, CeCe and his mom want UF. As the LOI only requires one parents sig as CeCe is 19, I'm pretty sure of that, I don't understand why the mom doesn't sign the LOI effectively cutting dad out of the process and thereby closing the matter:
Nick de la Torre @nickdelatorregc
News of Williams leaving is not the hold up with CeCe Jefferson. CeCe was told of this move earlier in the week. Committed 2 UF not a coach

Mr. Jefferson is behind CeCe's problems. Again, the easy fix is to simply have mom sign the LOI. It only takes one parent's signature:

Five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson is a Gator, but his future at Florida is still not official and may be in jeopardy.
The U.S. Army All-American from Glen Saint Mary Baker County verbally committed to UF on signing day during a live announcement on ESPNU.
But his letter of intent never came through the fax machine Wednesday, and as of his Thursday afternoon it still hadn’t been sent according to his father, Leo Jefferson.
“No sir, and it’s not going to,” he said. “You tell the Gainesville Sun that he isn't going to fax it in. I won't let him.”
Jefferson turned 19 last week. His father, however, said he still has to approve the LOI, which Jefferson signed in front of ESPNU cameras with his mother by his side in tears.
“What made me decide on Florida is I feel at home there,” Jefferson said on the ESPNU telecast. “And I’ll be close to my family. So if I ever need anything, it’s just a skip and hop from them to come bring me something.”
But Jefferson’s father doesn’t like the idea of his son playing less than an hour away from home.
“I’m a die-hard Gator fan, but personally, I want CeCe to go somewhere else,” Jefferson said. “I wanted to get him away from home. I didn’t want him in Gainesville, to tell you the truth.”
Per NCAA rules, Florida can only comment on recruits who have signed and faxed in their letters of intent.
It is unclear where Jefferson currently stands with his decision or when/if he will fax his LOI to Florida.

Mom wouldn't care if she pissed dad off. But if they are still living together then they will have to come to an agreement as a couple.
