Terry, what is the latest on Driskel? Is he going to be ready for the season or is it still too soon to know? Driskel will be practicing two weeks before the opener. He'll be ready for the season. Matt Jones will gain his weight/strength back rather quickly now that he his over his gastro problems so he'll be ready too. I'm more concerned with a couple of OL getting back from injury for the start of the season and that projected starting MLB Antonio Morrison is still suspended and will miss at least the first two games.

Not sure who he is but guessing he's the guy who took the ball away from Iglesias for an INT in the BCS title game? If so, that was a hell of a play.

That was indeed Ahmad Black and it was a hell of a play. Black and Riggs are similar sized and both started at CB. The difference is Riggs has track speed and Black didn't. When Black first showed up at UF, many thought he was too slow to be an impact player. That turned out not to be the case.

Mike, what I meant to say was Jeff Driskel would be back practicing 3 1/2 weeks before the opener. Seriously, I expect Jeff to ease back into things over the next few practices.

Antonio Morrison missed week 1 of practice as part of his two game suspension. Matt Rolin reinjured his ACL. He was a redshirt for this season, but you have to feel for the kid:

Florida has lost a linebacker to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, while another linebacker returned to the team.
Middle linebacker Antonio Morrison practiced Thursday night for the first time in preseason camp, which began last Friday. Morrison missed the first week of camp as part of his two-game suspension.
Linebacker Mike Taylor said he was happy to have Morrison in the team meetings again Thursday.
“It was good to see him, good to talk to him,” Taylor said. “He's a close friend of mine and it's good to have him back.”
Not all news was good for the Gators on Thursday, as they learned freshman linebacker Matt Rolin re-tore the ACL he injured in November and will miss this season.
“It's depressing when you work harder than you ever have in your life to get back to playing the sport you love and you find out it's 4 nothin,” Rolin wrote on his Twitter account.
The Under Armour All-American had been impressive in practice, according to Taylor.
“He's physical, not afraid to hit, flies around,” he said of Rolin. “It's unfortunate what happened, but he'll be back.”

Zach A's Recruiting News On The Gainesville Sun:
August 8th, 2013 02:35pm
Notebook: South Florida trio deciding Monday
by Zach Abolverdi
The fruits from Friday Night Lights should show up for Florida next week.
Fort Lauderdale cornerbacks Chris Lammons (Plantation) and Quincy Wilson (University School) are making their decisions along with Homestead’s Ermon Lane, the nation’s No. 2 wide receiver.
Lammons visited FNL with Wilson and talked about wanting to play with him in college, while Wilson made it clear that he and Lane are headed to the same school.
The Gators are the only team all three of them have among their favorites, so unless there’s some surprises in store, they should be picking UF.
Lammons will announce around 4:45 p.m. on the College Football Blitz on ESPNU, while Lane and Wilson will commit together at 9 p.m. on 560 WQAM, which can heard streaming live at wqam.com.
Other news and notes
* On Tuesday, five-star defensive end Lorenzo Carter (Norcross, Ga.) named a Top 7 of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon and Florida State. He told The Sun the Gators are still his leader.
* Alabama running back verbal Bo Scarbrough is transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton for his senior season. This move could help UF’s chances of getting him on campus again and possibly flipping the cousin of tight end commit C’yontai Lewis. They visited Gainesville together in June but did not make it to Friday Night Lights as planned.
* Five-star running backs Leonard Fournette (New Orleans, La./St. Augustine) and Joe Mixon (Oakley, Calif./Freedom) plan to officially visit Florida this fall. Mixon has already scheduled his trip for the Tennessee game on Sept. 21. Another top prospect, O’Fallon (Ill.) defensive end Dewayne Hendrix, will take an official on Oct. 5 when UF hosts Arkansas.
* The nation’s No. 1 defensive end, Da’Shawn Hand of Woodbridge (Va.), will announce his decision on Nov. 14 after he visits Alabama, Florida and Michigan.
* 2015 linebacker Ricky DeBerry (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher’s) was offered by the Gators during his visit Tuesday.

You have no prayer at getting Fournette. Carter is going to be a battle all the way to signing day.
I've read that Scarbrough's grades are a mess.

UF wants and needs to take two RBs in the class. With a smaller class size of 22+-1, it might not happen.
Bo Scarbrough is a horse, but UF might not be the place for him if he has grade issues. If class retakes are involved, UF admissions averages the grades rather than accepting the higher grade. UF has lost many good players using this policy instead of the NCAA policy. If he needs to get his grades fixed, see the Pensacola Washington DT that transferred to the Alabama school to get qualified for bama in the 12 class, Foley, Al. is the place for that. I'm surprised with his transfer to Bradenton IMG.
After playing the recruiting game, I expect Fournette to stay home and play for LSU. Bama thinks they will get him, but I'm not buying that with their unmatched stacked RB stable.

UF picks up OL commitment:
UF FOOTBALL RECRUITING
UFlands top offensive line recruit By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent

Florida has added another out-of-state lineman to its 2014 class, this time landing offensive guard Nolan Kelleher.
On Saturday, the 6-foot-6, 310-pounder from Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Wando picked the Gators over in-state Clemson, which had long been considered his favorite.
But UF made a late push last month and won him over during his visit to Gainesville on July 20.
The Gators now have five offensive linemen and 13 total commits in their class with the addition of Kelleher, who is the ninth four-star prospect to pledge to Florida according to ESPN.

Two OL Cleared For Practice:
Florida's Garcia, Thurman cleared to practice The Associated Press
Published: Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:37 p.m.
Last Modified: Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:37 p.m.
Banged-up Florida is getting a little healthier on offense.
Offensive linemen Max Garcia (back) and Trip Thurman (shoulder) were cleared to practice Monday, giving the Gators a couple big bodies back for fall practice.
Guard Jon Halapio, who has a partially torn pectoral muscle, is still out at least another week. And running back Matt Jones remains sidelined while recovering from a viral infection. Coach Will Muschamp says team doctors "just gotta be careful with his condition there."
Fullback Hunter Joyer pulled a hamstring in practice Sunday and will be out at least 10 days. And safety Jaylen Watkins (sprained foot) won't practice this week.
The Gators opened fall practice without four offensive starters. Halapio and Jones are still, but Jones is the only one without a return timetable.

Gators get commitment from CB Chris Lammons - said on ESPNU when he announced that he is being recruited for CB and he wants to return punts and kickoffs. There may be two more commitments tonight and one tomorrow:
Gators land surprise commit for 2014 By Zach Abolverdi Correspondent

Florida landed somewhat of a surprise commitment Monday when Fort Lauderdale Plantation cornerback Chris Lammons pledged to the Gators on ESPNU.
The 5-foot-10, 171-pounder visited Gainesville twice this year and was thought to be favoring UF after attending Friday Night Lights last month.
However, Lammons surprisingly named Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee his finalists during his high school football team's media day event Saturday. But after talking things over with his family later that night, he had a change of heart and decided on Florida.
“Great coaching, great facilities, and that's just somewhere I just feel comfortable,” Lammons said.
The Gators now have 14 commits in their 2014 class, including eight ESPN300 members with the addition of Lammons.

UF picked up two more commitments tonight:
Ermon Lane of Homestead, consensus 5 star and #2 WR in the nation, committed on the same radio show with Quincey Wilson. Lane is 6'2"/196.
Quincy Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale University School, 4 star CB, committed. Wilson is 6'1"/196. His father, Chad Wilson, played CB for Miami.
I'll post an article when it's available.
UF has picked up three 4 star and one 5 star players in the last two days. The Gators have a shot tomorrow with a highly ranked JUCO DL.
UF is sitting on 16 commitments, but I'm expecting a couple of decommits or be decommitted. Given that we are looking at 22+-1, UF probably has room for 8 more commitments as of this post.
