Perry is as old south as you can get in Florida. Chicago to Perry is like visiting a foreign country. Harry, you better check to see if you'll need a passport. It's Brigadoon! Nice area, but that smell from just north of there is overbearing at times.

Thanks and I like the Clearwater area...my wife not so much. Funny thing is we started going there on a regular basis to visit her aunt and uncle. Might be coming down this winter to go pig hunting with her uncle...he has some acreage further north in Perry. I have never cared much for the Clearwater area. Looked at a practice opportunity there when I first came out of training but both my wife and I liked just about every other area better. Wound up staying close to home anyway. We generally stay down around Indian Rocks.

1. UF Starters On The Mend: www.gatorsports.com/article/20130805/ARTICLES/130809789?p=1&tc=pg2. DT Damien Jacobs reportedly 6'3"/297. That's up 12 pounds from last season. He's vying for a starter role. 3. DT Darious Cummings reported at 6'1"/301. That could be a typo on the weight. He was previously reported at 310. He's likely in the 2 deep. 4. DT Leon Orr sprained his thumb, but it isn't anything serious.

Progress at TE:
By Robbie Andreu Staff writer
Published: Monday, August 5, 2013 at 6:04 p.m.
Last Modified: Monday, August 5, 2013 at 6:04 p.m.
The tight end position on the Florida football team is considered the biggest question mark on the offense. Three days into preseason camp, coach Will Muschamp said he's been pleased with what he's seen out of the tight ends.
“I think (redshirt freshman) Colin Thompson has done some nice things, blocking at the point and in the passing game,” Muschamp said. “Tevin Westbrook had a really good first day, continues to come on and progress. Clay Burton has been a very dependable guy. He's done some nice things.
“Kent Taylor has improved. We've improved from where we were in the spring. That's what you want to do, take the next step forward. I think we've taken some positive steps from spring.”
Muschamp said Taylor has gained much needed weight and strength since the spring.
“He's gotten bigger, and he's doing a better job of blocking at the point,” he said. “We've just got to ask him to do things that he can do. He can catch the ball and play in space and we've got to continue to try and get him the ball in those ways.”
Muschamp also mentioned true freshman Trevon Young, the final member of the recruiting class who turned down a chance to possibly play college basketball to come to UF as a project at tight end or on the offensive or defensive line.
“Trevon Young is a guy we're mixing in there,” Muschamp said. “Athletically, for 270 pounds at the tight end position, he moves well. I don't know how much he'll help us, but his athleticism fits.
“He's a really good athlete, very flexible. He can bend and change direction. He's 270 now and 6-4, 6-5. Those guys can do something for your football team. We want to be a big, fast, physical team and that's why you add guys like that in your recruiting class late.”

PHILADELPHIA — Riley Cooper has returned to the Philadelphia Eagles after he was caught on video using a racial slur and given four days off.
The team says Cooper is expected to be at practice Tuesday. The Eagles and Patriots are to hold a joint practice.
The former standout at the University of Florida was fined by the Eagles after his slur became known Wednesday. He left the team Friday to seek counseling.
The video of Cooper was taken at a Kenny Chesney concert in June. Cooper apologized profusely Wednesday and Thursday.

Andre Debose Injuries His Knee In First Contact Practice - status is incertain at this time. This from the Gainesville Sun:

Andre Debose, who is expected to compete for a starting role at wide receiver, injured his knee Tuesday night during the Gators’ first full-contact practice and his status is uncertain at this time.
Offensive coordinator Brent Pease confirmed Wednesday that Debose left Tuesday’s practice with a knee injury.
“Yeah, I think he tweaked his knee a little bit,” he said. “They’re evaluating at this time and we’ll go from there.
“I saw him walk off, but I don’t know the severity of it right now.”
UF coach Will Muschamp and several offensive players have said Debose has put himself in a position to have a possible breakout out year in his senior season with the work he’s put in this summer and early in camp.
“He’s done a great job,” Pease said. “Any time you’ve got an injury, you’ve got to be mentally tough, because you have put time invested into it and worked hard, so you’ve got to see what your time of recovery is and prepare to come back from that.”

I heard on our site that it was a torn ACL, and he's out for the year. Any updates? Debose is a dangerous return man, to be sure...

P.S. Also read that Dunbar isn't practicing with the team? If not, you guys have gone from mediocre at best, to in a very tough spot at WR...

Just saw on ESPN that Andre Debose is out for the year - torn ACL. TYHNC, he'll be missed far more on KO returns than in the passing game. Andre has never lived up to the hype in the passing game.
I haven't heard anything on Quinton Dunbar not practicing with the team. We have injured players, but he has not been mentioned as one of the injured. The only player under current suspension is Antonio Morrison who will miss the first two games.

Florida wide receiver and return specialist Andre Debose will miss the 2013 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at Tuesday night’s practice, the first non-contact practice of camp.
"I know that Andre is disappointed," UF coach Will Muschamp said. "He had been doing very well in camp and we were more than pleased with his effort and attitude. Andre was hurt in a non-contact situation. He just planted his foot and there was a tear. He will have surgery after the swelling goes down.
“It is unfortunate and you feel bad anytime that someone is injured, and the coaching staff and our team will be very supportive in assisting Andre during his recovery."
Debose, a redshirt senior, will be eligible to petition the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility, meaning there is a chance he could return next season.
Debose has not been much of a factor in the passing game throughout his career, catching only three passes for 15 yards last season, but he’s one of the top kickoff return men in SEC history, bringing back four for touchdowns.
He has made 29 receptions for 543 yards and four touchdowns in his UF career, along with 58 kick returns for 1,592 yards and the school-record four touchdowns.
Debose holds the UF career record for kickoff return average (27.4 yards per return) and ranks second in SEC history.

For a five star athlete coming out of Sanford he just hasn't been able to stay healthy long enough to live up to his hype.

Darrell, the other part of the problem for Andre is that he has had 4 different offensive coordinators. He also has had a bit of an attitude that didn't go well with Will Muschamp. However, if he was going to have a money year, this would have been it. He had been doing much better coming into fall practice.

Terry, what is the latest on Driskel? Is he going to be ready for the season or is it still too soon to know?

However, if he was going to have a money year, this would have been it. He had been doing much better coming into fall practice. The Sanford trio that everyone wanted so bad didn't exactly dominate in college. Ray Ray Armstrong was average at best as a safety for Miami, Andre has been up and down for UF and Deron Dye has shifted back and forth between tight end and defensive end. He looks like he could get some reps this year as a DE, but not guaranteed.
