The rest of the team hasn't helped either. Fumble inside the 20 on a promising drive. Silly late hit out of bounds. Vandy's qb is no better than Harris, so o e okay by the gator defense/ special teams can still win this. But this looks like a completely different team than the one from the cocktail party. And vandy gave up 34 to Houston last week. Cfb. You just don't know from week to week. The short vandy punt gave uf an open door and the kid drilled the fg. You could not have an uglier win but a win is a win. Congrats on the sec east crown. Thanks for the congrats. I remember an Auburn vs. Michigan Sugar Bowl back in the 80s with the same final score that was just as ugly and boring. UF was lucky to get through today with the win after turning the ball over 4 times plus leaving points on the field. This is a game Muschamp would have lost so the Gators have that going for them.
Late during the week, my mind went years back to a junior high game and a high school game. In 1967, my junior high school team was 5-0, had already won the city championship, and was playing the cities worst team which was 0-5. When the dust settled, it was 6-0 by the winless team. In the mid 80's, I watched an Emmitt Smith Escambia High team playing a little school from Magee, Mississippi that had an excellent reputation for putting players in big school college football. The final was 7-6 Escambia, but Magee missed a game winning FG late in the 4th quarter. My worst thoughts would have come true today had UF dropped that ugly game. However, as you said, a win is a win.

The UF at USC game at 12 PM ET next Saturday will be on ESPN. The weather will be better as the weather is predicted to be nice with the temps in the low 60s. Unlike todays summer-like weather in Gainesville today, the weather should be perfect for football.

That was ugly as hell, and also about what I've been expecting from UF all season. I knew at some point they would play to their "ability". It is amazing that they still found away to win, not just the game, but the right to get pummeled by Alabama.
As much as I've loved how this season has gone, I believe it has reached a Peter Principle moment, buy getting themselves into a game they simply don't have the ability to compete, YET.
Right now it feels like a very special "Be careful what you wish for" Orange and Blue moment.
But of course, we could be poodles or Vols, so there is that.
And who knows, CFB is a strange beast. Just maybe....
However it turns out, It Great To Be Florida Gator!!!

I still can't get over being left out of Phil Steele's top 55, being ranked around 65 on several sites that ranked all 128 teams, not being ranked in the preseason polls, and being picked to finish 5th in the SEC East to get upset about this team regardless of what happens from here on out.
My preseason prediction was 7-5 so the Gators at 8-1 have exceeded my expectations with 3 games to play.

Florida continues to climb up the team recruiting rankings for 2016.
The Gators landed their 22nd verbal commitment Thursday with the pledge of defensive end Jachai Polite, according to Daytona Beach Mainland athletic director Patrick Monahan.
With the addition of Polite, UF’s class is now ranked in the top 10 by two sites (Scout and 247Sports) and moved up to No. 11 in Rivals.com’s team rankings.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Polite picked UF over Miami and also held offers from Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee. He’s the second straight defensive end to pledge to the Gators, joining top-100 overall recruit Antonneous Clayton.
Polite was one of the last three-star prospects with committable offers on Florida’s board. Another is his teammate, offensive tackle Marcus Tatum, who the Gators lead for.
Outside of Tatum, the remaining 2016 recruits UF lands will likely be rated four-stars or better and could result in a top-5 finish on signing day.

Injury Report For South Carolina:
INJURY REPORT
Out: DT Joey Ivie (knee), DT Thomas Holley (hip); Questionable: DT Jonathan Bullard (arm); Probable: S Keanu Neal (foot) and OL David Sharpe (foot).
That's better than what was possible at the start of the week. If Bullard can't play, UF will be DL thin in the first half as Jordan Sherit is out for the first half as a result of his targeting penalty in the second half against Vandy in the last game.
Jonathan Bullard took some reps in Thursday practice so he is now a game time decision.
This will be Joey Ivie's third game in a row that he has missed with his knee injury.
Thomas Holley has a chronic hip injury so this is nothing new. If his prognosis doesn't improve, I wouldn't be surprised to see him eventually get moved to a medical ship. That would be a shame as, outside of the hip injury, Holley is a remarkable athlete who would be destined to play in the NFL. His hip injury was undiagnosed coming out of high school so he had a surgery to repair the problem in his redshirt freshman season. However, the stress on his hip playing DT causes him too much pain for him to consistently practice or play.

Posted without opinion - JC Jackson acquitted and wants to return to UF:
By Cindy Swirko Staff writer
Published: Friday, November 13, 2015 at 3:28 p.m.
Last Modified: Friday, November 13, 2015 at 4:28 p.m.
Former University of Florida football player J.C. Jackson was acquitted Friday afternoon of robbery and related charges following a three day trial and said afterward he would like to play for the Gators.
“I would like to come back, but it's up to the coaches,” Jackson said.
Jackson, a former Gators defensive back, was charged in July with three counts of home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary in connection with an April 18 robbery at the Canopy apartment complex at 4400 SW 20th Ave.
Police said in the arrest report that Jackson led two men — one of them armed with a handgun — into the apartment, and those two men robbed everyone inside, taking two electronic gaming systems and $382 in cash.
Assistant State Attorney Adam Urra said in his closing argument that Jackson's participation in the robbery warranted a guilty verdict.
“J.C. Jackson had a big role — get everyone in,” Urra argued. “It was a single-minded, single purpose of his.”
A co-defendant, Bosie Dwayne Jackson, who is not related to Jackson, is awaiting trial.
Jackson's attorney, Christopher Brown, said in his closing argument a crime would have happened at the apartment whether Jackson was there or not.
Brown added the evidence against Jackson was circumstantial, and the witnesses presented by the prosecution were unreliable.
“If somebody is not telling the truth and you know for a fact they were not, are you willing to rely on their testimony for such an important purpose?” Brown argued.
Brown said that Jackson's coming in the apartment to yell “hurry up” didn't aid or assist the crime.
After the verdict, Brown said Jackson was acquitted because he was innocent.

By SCOTT CARTER GatorZone.com Senior Writer
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Gators clinched their first SEC East title in six years by escaping with a two-point victory over Vanderbilt a week ago.
The No. 11-ranked Gators (9-1, 7-1) dominated South Carolina (3-7, 1-7) on Saturday -- well, for most of the game -- before holding off the Gamecocks in a 24-14 victory here at Williams-Brice Stadium.
A pair of touchdowns by true freshman running back Jordan Cronkrite and a Austin Hardin 39-yard field goal gave Florida a 17-0 lead entering the final quarter. The Gamecocks could do nothing offensively as they entered the fourth quarter with 44 total yards.
However, a late South Carolina rally, capped by a 38-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Perry Orth to Pharoh Cooper cut Florida's lead to 17-14 with 4:49 left.
The Gators then turned to their offense to finish the game. The offense came through as quarterback Treon Harris hit receiver Demarcus Robinson for a big first down.
Next, running back Kelvin Taylor broke off a 53-yard run that moved the Gators to South Carolina's 1-yard line. He scored on the next playing, sealing Florida's victory with 2:01 left in the game.
Here is our instant analysis from Florida's visit to Columbia:
WHAT IT MEANS: The Gators remain alive in the College Football Playoff chatter by winning their third consecutive game. Florida's ninth win of the season allowed first-year head coach Jim McElwain to join some elite company. McElwain joins former Gators coaches Ray Graves (1960), Galen Hall (1985), Steve Spurrier (1990) and Urban Meyer to win nine games in his first full season.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Cronkrite was suspended for the first half of the Vanderbilt game due to a targeting penalty he received in the victory over Georgia. He ended up not playing against the Commodores, the first DNP of his young career. Cronkrite not only played at Saturday, he played a starring role with a 3-yard touchdown run and 41-yard touchdown reception. On his first career touchdown reception, Cronkrite made the catch as he and Gamecocks defensive back Chris Lammons converged on the ball. Cronkrite beat Lammons for the ball, then raced the final 11 yards into the end zone.
STAGGERING STATISTIC: The Gators' longest scoring drive in time elapsed prior to Saturday's game was a 17-play, 86-yard scoring drive against Tennessee that took 6 minutes, 10 seconds off the clock. Florida had three drives that long against the Gamecocks. Florida's first three scoring drives Saturday consumed 6:38, 7:11 and 6:20 of game time.
SUBPLOT: The Gators were cruising until midway into the fourth quarter when running back Jordan Scarlett was stopped on fourth down. South Carolina seized the momentum swing to trim a 17-point deficit to three points. However, on a key third-and-8 play on the ensuing possession, Taylor raced 53 yards to South Carolina's 1. He scored on the next play to seal the victory.
UP NEXT: The Gators finish the regular season with a pair of nonconference games against Florida Atlantic and Florida State. FAU is up first. The Owls visit Ben Hill Griffin Stadium next week coming off a 24-17 to Middle Tennessee on Saturday. FAU is 2-8 in the second season for head coach Charlie Partridge, a former assistant under Bret Bielema at Wisconsin and Arkansas.

Depth Chart for FAU:
www.gatorzone.com/football/stats/depth.pdf
Gotta say I'm weary of seeing Marcus Maye have a once a game breakdown and Brian Poole getting beat by the slot receiver 3 or 4 times every game. Clearly, they are the weak links of our starters in the secondary. Both tackle better than they cover. If I can see it, you know Lame Kitten is already waiting in anticipation of a few big plays in the passing game similar to what bama did in Tuscaloosa to UF last season.
South Carolina scored two TD passes, one against Poole and the other against Maye although had Jordan Sherit stayed home and covered the QB the play wouldn't have happened. However, Maye was the last line of defense on that side and he was out of position. Other than that, the Gator D played well enough to pitch a road shutout in SEC play.
EDIT:
I was too tough on Brian Poole. On USC's second TD, the outside WR came inside and long and the slot WR curled outside and short. Brian Poole switched to the WR coming inside and had him covered short and middle distance, but he didn't get safety help from Marcus Maye whose job is to be deeper than the deepest. The ball was lofted over Maye whom the announcer described as flat footed. Brian Poole wasn't at fault for the TD. That fault, just like the deep LSU TD pass as the first half was about to expire, belongs to Marcus Maye.
On the first TD throw back pass to the QB, DE Jordan Sherit didn't keep containment on the QB, but it was Keanu Neal who was out of position and couldn't get over to stop the QB from scoring.
Bottom line, a defensive end lost containment on the QB and both safeties broke down on USC's two 4th quarter TDs. To be sure, FSU and bama will test our safeties deep hoping to hit big plays.
